Politico: Ron Paul delegates get nosebleed seats

TAMPA — The GOP is shoving the Ron Paul Revolution to the margins — of the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

The Republican National Convention seating chart, obtained by POLITICO Sunday, shows the delegations from Nevada, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota and Oklahoma all located on the outer fringe of the convention floor. Each are states with significant Paul followings.

The delegation for the Northern Mariana Islands, on the other hand, is right in front behind the gang from Michigan, birth state of Republican nominee Mitt Romney. Other groups with pretty good seats include those from the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and American Samoa. None has electoral votes that can impact the outcome of the election.

It’s yet another indignity for the party’s cantankerous libertarian faction for their revered retiring Rep. Paul, R-Texas, who accumulated 177 delegates during his run for the GOP nomination this year. While he didn’t win a single state, his supporters used procedural mechanisms available to them in several states to take a majority of delegates from Nevada, Iowa and Minnesota.

It is customary for vanquished candidates to cede delegates to the presumptive nominee, but Paul has insisted he cannot tell his followers what to do.

but if *you* (any of *us*) try to tell this to a neo-

conservative who is still sleeping . . . the eyes merely glaze over--

it is one of the most frustrating experiences 1988vote has ever had (both of us!)--

We took a long walk yesterday, and we talked about how frustrating it is to find our closest friends just closing up to truth--

people who have 'indulged' us in our Ron Paul fantasy are no longer indulgent, and we feel terribly alone.

One of us had an 'e tu, Brute?' moment with a friend--

and we walked in a natural place and mourned--

and then we asked each other and ourselves, 'what will happen next?'--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

I'm SO done with the republican party.

I pledge to write in Ron Paul in November.

And not vote for any other republican on my ballot.

They did this crap to us in 2008 and not a thing has changed.

Actually I'll correct myself - things have changed for the WORSE.

This party is even more rotted than they were before.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."

"He didn’t win a single state" - media propagandist

Winning the delegates is winning a state! It's the delegates that matter.

You say you don't like the Lesser of Two Evils?

You say you don't like the Lesser of Two Evils?

Well, they'll marginalize a significant representation of the Lesser of Two Evils Party so the Greater of Two Evils will get re-elected.

"Evil don't give a sh!t whether you pick the Lesser or Greater, as long as your only 'choice' is EVIL."

Lobby California Delegates please!!!!!!!!!!

I read an article the CA delegates have been charged to silence us. But being a die hard from socal and spent time all around the state i know we r so libertarian its crazy. Convince them if they back us our message will put Cali back on the Republican map!!!!!! Im telling u lobby these folks hard they r lookin to get back in play. Plus its the biggest electoral block in the union. Make it happen!!!!! We got this Ron Paul or No one.

Most people in California are

Most people in California are very liberal, at least in NorCal. Never been to SoCal.

San Francisco, Hollywood & Politics liberally propagandize.

The California State populous ain't fairly represented in newspapers, Hollywood drama, nor politics. Most folks are critical of what the propaganda machine spits out... Like me.

Grammatical note to the Editor: double entendre may or may not be discerned as jointly or singularly negative. If you catch my meaning, send it home (before the opposing runners score).

Erin Burnett talking on CNN about the nosebleed seats

All the states in the nosebleed seats the delegates should be rowdy and fun so the media will put all attention on you. Make them love you!

Seems Quite Normal to Me Actually

You back the loser, you get the cheap seats - it's part of life. And no one is worried about Oklahoma or Louisiana anyway - Ron Paul has negligible support in these states anyway - Romney will win these states with 60% majorities. Only one that anyone might care about is Nevada but that is life - if Ron Paul supporters want to take their ball home when they don't win - there is nothing anyone can do about it - besides there are much bigger blocks of votes to worry about in the general election.

Abandon the Reprubican Party,

Abandon the Reprubican Party, form a coalition party that stresses: fiscal conservative, End the Fed, end welfare to corporations, restore liberty, end the empire and bring back the American system of trade. We can get a lot of folks from both sides of the aisle.

You mean just like the

You mean just like the Libertarian Party? The Constitution Party? The Boston Tea Party? The Reform Party? The Jefferson Republican Party? The Independence Party of America? The American Populist Party? The Modern Whig Party? America's Party?

Many have tried, all have failed.

Why do all these parties fail?

Because they are outside the mainstream - the "folks" have never been reached to any great extent - much less converted or convinced. The no compromise - take our program exactly as it is without compromise because compromise is immoral - dooms your movement to failure - makes it impossible to ever reach the folks so the movement is doomed so long as it is so rigid - if the rigidity is a virtue to you then keep it but don't delude yourself that there is a path to victory.

When you leave, you're doing what they want and they win.

Instead, look at Nevada in 2008 and 2012. They didn't leave. They got results later.

When you leave, they do what they want.

Your ain't there to raise a ruckus! [Hold up Ron Paul sign. Wave arms wildly.]

Carry on...

Well Well well

here we are getting the shaft as usual. It happened in 2008 and now we see 2012 is the same Crapola just a different year. Lets hear from all that said we should play nice so the RNC would be fair to Paul delegates.

Let this be a reminder to all, if we are ever going to be treated fairly we must take over the GOP or get out.

Just today I talked to another Minnesota delegate to our county convention that told me I must vote for Romney now. I happily told him I will be writing in Ron Paul, and Romney is Obama's political twin.

If the RNC pushes Romney through then they have chosen their own bed of thorns and it is time to lay in it. AS I see it Obama wins over Romney easily.

Gold standard: because man can not be trusted to control his greed

Time to bust out the Dephi Technique

Perhaps that seating arraignment could be of use. They probably did it to maximize the television cameras ability to falsely display "party unity"

"If this mischievous financial policy [greenbacks], which has its origin in North America, should become endurated down to a fixture, then that government will furnish its own money without cost. It will pay off its debts and be without debts. It will hav

Typical from the RNC

And what was all this about

And what was all this about how a 'walkout' of delegates would 'shame Romney'? Won't do a damn thing if none of the major media cameras can catch it, even if they tried...

Like father, like son? George Romney for President, 1970

Braver than Mitt: George Romney walked out on the 1964 convention to protest GOP radicalism. His son would never do the same.

In theater, this is termed a sideshow. George Romney was pretending to run to President of the USA.. But wait... his parents left the US in disgust. They denounced their US citizenship & moved to Mexico. George Romney was born there. Thus, he was not qualified to be President,

George Romney was not a natural born citizen of the US.

Few remember these facts. George Romney's walk out of the Republican Convention, 1970 did little, if any good.

Stay the course. Go Ron Paul!

They Don't Care...

Not about Obama, or Romney, the rules don't matter...

Those enforcing the rules make the game fair or allow otherwise.

They care or they intentionally don't.

Rules are put in place to help you believe they are to be followed.

Are you following? Or leading?

Please take my words kindly, as they are meant. Light on editorial; focus on action.

may not be eligible either. "Must be born of 2 natural born citizens to be president." Maybe he was born in Mexico.

Keepin' it real.

Mr R born in Harper Hospital, Detroit Michigan March 12, 1947

To be a "natural born citizen" parents are citizens & birth is within the United States of America. Mr O, Mr McCain, Mr Trump, Geroge Romney did not meet that simple requirement. Mr B II had a "C" average in his schooling; good nuff to be president.

No Response From Romney Campaign On Request For Birth Certificate
August 26th, 2012

During a Friday afternoon visit to beautiful downtown Commerce Township, [Mr R] told supporters: “Ann was born in Henry Ford Hospital, I was born in Harper Hospital. No one’s ever asked to see my birth certificate; they know that this is the place that we were born and raised.”

When [Mr R] made that statement, it may have been true. However, Deadline Detroit has since requested a copy of his birth certificate through his Michigan campaign office on Friday. As of writing, no one has responded to either our voicemail or email.

Quit yer bitchin'...

Didn't you get the memo, we all have to be "good Republicans now" and support the candidate. You wanted to be included, well that's their idea of inclusion. Remember gang, think "long view, loooong view" (like from the rafters) LOL! You asked for it, you got it! This is what submission brings...

Amen! Still trying to hide jelly doughnuts in the footlockers

Let talk strategy now. Operation "make love to the GOP" and try to out flank them with a brokered convention? How's that working out? Wipe the Hail Mary ooze from your mouths and get your feet back on the deck where the rest of us have been paying for your unicorn dreams.
Ralph Nader 101....there is no difference between either side of the two headed monster from Washington. Goldman Sachs #1 Obama supporter 4 years ago...today it is Romney..and he may be looking for some payback should he get elected. He won't have the stones to kick around the Dems...and it already looks like he's started on us.
HERE COMES MORE OF THE SAME.....I am finally glad that all you "in the know" Bentonites can see with your own eyes....the big old shaft our delegates get while Carl Rove and company are laughing their fat bellies off at our shattered hopes. We will be the butt of every establishment party joke for years.
'Cmon guys...what's next? Jesse Benton gonna fly in on Dumbo with the magic feather if we still believe?

The RNC Asked Paul to speak Monday Nite for an Hour !

That is what Ron Paul told us at the Sun Dome meeting today. Paul said thejy will let him talk about anything he wants. They might even give him more then an hour ! But of course, Ron Paul was kidding because that is when the Isaac Hurricane might hit.

Politico's flip-flopping on

Politico's flip-flopping on their view of Ron Paul and the Liberty Movement would make Romney proud.

$18 M showboat? Much cheaper to tour the isles w/ this entourage

The American Isles delegations have pretty good seats.

  • Northern Mariana Islands - front seats, near orchestra
  • U.S. Virgin Islands - pretty good seats, see orchestra
  • Puerto Rico - pretty good seats
  • American Samoa - pretty good seats

The Isles have zero electoral votes. Despite being island nations, none seated with water front views.

Pretty much everyone seated is Republican. Goes without mention. There is no nominee yet. Again, goes without mention.

For an $18 million taxpayer extravaganza, hope for a really great show... Rather than fuss with seats in Tampa, would have been cheaper to tour the islands with this entourage for a fraction of the $18 million.
