Reason magazine senior editor and Ron Paul’s rEVOLution: The Man and the Movement He Inspired author Brian Doherty told The Daily Caller News Foundation last week that he estimated Johnson would get a third of Paul’s 2 million votes from the GOP primaries.

Why this old thread again?

What point are you trying to make?

(When I look at the comments it appears that it was ME who bumped it up. But I assure you I didn't. I only commented because somehow it was on the first page.)

Now, How Many Votes if Ron Paul Where to Run and Gary step aside

as he has said he would do? See Open Letter to Our Leader, Ron Paul. It is at Top of Recent Topics. If you support this idea, please check out the post, vote and comment. This is how we win.

Ron won't do it

Ron won't do it because he doesn't want to do it. Not my words, by the way.

Time will tell, but if the DP straw poll is any indicator

Gary may get close to half of Ron's base... So, about 700,000 votes would be in the right neighborhood.

That's better than votes going to Obama or Romney.

Gary Johnson is picking up supporters! Mindblowing numbers!

On 08/29/2012 Gary had 59 supporters in 5 meetup groups across the nation.

4 days later he is up to an astounding 64!

Wow 5 people! Amazing! The Money Bomb for Sunday should surely break all of the records set in 2008 by Dr. Paul.

November 6th 2012 I voted for Dr.Ron Paul
"We must remember, elections are short-term efforts. Revolutions are long-term projects." ~ Ron Paul

Not to mention...

the Independent, Democrat and Republican votes that are sick and tired of the status quo.

Gary Johnson vote

=Obama win!Ron Paul ONLY!!!!!

What on earth... I don't even...

If a Gary Johnson vote is an Obama win, then how is a Ron Paul write-in NOT an Obama win?

Gary Johnson can win-Paul People must vote for Johnson

If all the Paul people get on board and vote for Gary Johnson, there will be a good chance he will win. Traditionally everyone will come out and vote in a Presidential election. If all of us come out and vote for Johnson, considering our number, we will make a major impact on this election. A three way split is not a bad thing. We need to ensure he stays on all the ballots. Don't let the crooks get away with this.

We who support Ron Paul and are republicans, must speak up against the corruption exhibited by our party this week. Romney is not the legal candidate according to the national party rules. The rules are there to be followed, not changed. This is an example of how dirty the leaders are who run the party. There is no integrity, just corruption. I suggest everyone start by joining their local committee. Through gaining placement within we can start to make changes. It takes time. We have the next four years to gain control. It won't happen overnight.

Speak up now, or forever hold your piece.

Gary can win in a landslide

80% of Americans agree with his views.

We just need to get him to the presidential debates -- first one is on Oct. 3rd.

Gary Johnson might get 66,700 of RP's supporters, but not 667,000.

Vote Gary Johnson over

Vote Gary Johnson over Obamney!!!

Ron Paul 2016

There's many reasons not to vote for LP

The most important one of all is that your votes WILL BE FLIPPED to one of the other two puppets and the LP will not get over 1% even if there was a lot more than 1% voting for them and as usual no one will say anything.

The establishment NEEDS your vote, they want you to vote, they want you to feel as if you can have your say. For the "political rebels" like the RP supporters, they need to make them feel as if "they just don't have the numbers" to make a change: via voting they never will because it is rigged, get that in your head.

As long as voting is primarily counted by machines NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE, the machines are rigged inside and even those well intentioned people monitoring the machine counts don't have a clue that it is rigged INSIDE.

Why do you think Ron Paul was only close to winning it in the early caucuses (Iowa, Nevada)? Low turnout is the reason they cite but IT IS THE MACHINES.

Must watch:

The only way to truly make a change is to educate others. Once there's critical mass (not by voting but actual people that are aware) THEN something might be accomplished.

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom — go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, an

So there are two options.

If you don't vote--if it is rigged, then it doesn't matter. If it isn't rigged, then you didn't support a liberty candidate.

If you do vote--if it is rigged, then it doesn't matter. If it isn't rigged, then you supported a liberty candidate!

And you really don't have the choice to not go an vote, because you should at least be voting for your US Representatives and Senators, and I highly doubt that that is rigged as well, even if the Presidential elections are rigged.

Whatever you do, don't for

Whatever you do, don't vote for Romney. I think the GOP base and liberty would benefit from 4 more years of Obama over Romney, in an indirect way. And now before you stop reading I'll explain...

Obama has the whole GOP, even the neo-cons fired up. If Romney wins, then these people go back to sleep for 4-8 years. That's no good for us. At least if Obama wins the neo-con media (Hannity, Rush, Levin) will keep these people fired up and angry, and we can keep teaching them.

And since I can't bring myself to vote for Obama for this reason, I'll just help to split the GOP vote with Johnson.

Yes, 500,000 votes is typical of an LP presidential candidate.

Perhaps someone here will find my 5 essays as to why "The Libertarian Party is a failed liberty advancing strategy". Just do a DP search on that title above in quotes.

..is violence.

Voting is, in fact violence

but as Ayn Rand put it, "I pay attention to politics so that one day I won't have to."

I don't consider it "violence"...

...I tend to just think of it as a waste of time at best, and a naive false sense of security at worst.

Voting "Yes for Kids"...

..in your local govt school measure is voting to rob your neighbors. Voting for Demoblicans who would prohibibt someone else's innocent jones is voting to cage the inoffensive. Voting for Demoblicans who would protect, preserve, and cherish the IRS and the Fed is voting to kill people who would try to protect their proerty or resecure their own liberty.

Voting in self defense is your only moral option

I don't agree that voting is

I don't agree that voting is anything more than expressing an opinion.

Even bad opinions aren't initiations of force. It takes others to do the actual initiating of force.

Gary Johnson

Have you seen the latest Johnson ad on his site? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrU6hTWyj6s&feature=player_em...

I have been following TMOT and his philosophy on writing in Paul's name, but, I fear that with the corruption that the RNC has shown it has a tendency to do, they would find a way to give those votes to Romney. I have given it great thought and have listened to a few on here that have been pushing for Gary Johnson if Paul was pushed out with the same argument. I want to see what happens at the convention this week, but when all is said and done, if Romney is the nominee, I believe we all should push for Johnson in order to get him in the debates so we have someone who speaks on liberty and small government as neither Romney nor Obama will.

all I know is that the comeraderie on DP . . .

went down a notch when GJ became an issue.

I was the object of anger yesterday on a discussion about him--

I 'dared' to mention that I felt Johnson was lacking in character/integrity, because of choices he had made in his personal life--

it's sad to see this happen. I guess I'm glad that some Ron Paul supporters have found a 'new friend' in Johnson--

but I can't jump on that wagon--

I won't jump on it.

I may just not vote at all that day--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

Which came first?

Rand endorsing Romney, or Ron Paul supporters endorsing Gary Johnson on the DP? Rand's endorsement of a neocon is what divided the grassroots. That's what shifted many of Ron Paul's supporter's efforts over to Johnson.

A candidate so bland that he won't offend too many.

He plays buzzword bingo tested with libertarian focus groups.

GJ is a LINO, IMO.

Beside I am going to stop wasting time speculating an the MSM's presumptive candidate and wait until I know the official GOP nominee.
