Iraq vet arrested on terrorism charges after jogging with training rifle

I'll admit jogging in full military fatigues while carrying a training rifle is just asking for trouble in this orwellian police state we now live in, but the gun just shoots pellets so, what laws exactly did this guy break?

A US veteran is facing charges of terrorism after being arrested for trying to get some exercise. That’s William Alemar’s story, at least, who was detained this week after jogging in full military fatigues in public while carrying a training rifle.

Authorities have charged 23-year-old Army National Guardsman and Iraq war veteran William Everett Alemar with "committing a terroristic act and wearing body armor while committing a felony offense.” He was arrested on the morning of August 20 after officers responded to calls of an armed man running along a road adjacent to a Martinsburg, West Virginia high school.

When the cops found Alemar three minutes later, he was wearing his full National Guard get-up and was brandishing an air-soft “training rifle,” a gun that while similar to his actual weapon only fires pellets, not bullets. He was also garbed in a ballistic vest composed of bullet-resistant ceramic panels and was equipped with two knives and several unloaded magazines, the Herald-Mail reports.

If he had been doing this during the RNC or G20 he would have

Gotten overtime.

At least this proves Posse Comitatus isn't completely dead in civilians' eyes.

Makes sense to me. Terrorism

Makes sense to me.

Terrorism is inciting fear in the population to further some political means.

This wacko running around in body armor with weapons was clearly frightening the local populace - i.e. terrorizing them...

If you see something that frightens you a little bit,
Say something!

"Charges of terrorism"

And what, pray-tell, is "terrorism?"

This is charging someone with thought-crime. He actually didn't commit a crime, but the cowards in law enforcement now think that he may have been thinking of committing a crime, so now he is being charged with potentially thinking about committing a crime that he didn't actually commit???????

WTF?? Is it just me, or is this straight out of 1984?

I don't quite understand.
WV. is an open carry state.
I have walked around Martinsburg tons of times with a beautiful 375 SA revolver slung nicely in a gorgeous black western holster with about two dozen extra rounds circling the belt and not once have I ever been questioned.
Restaurants, moving theatres, stores, not once.
I like WV and VA. for that very reason.
I live in MD. (which I rather hate) where not long ago, I was accosted and placed I cuffs for walking across my own front yard wearing it. I didn't resist and immediately insisted they get their superior there. And when they did, he wasn't too helpful until I mentioned how much it was going to cost the town for the lawsuit that would take place if I stood there much longer that way. Then it was get them cuffs off right now! But not before they had unloaded my gun for their safety. MD sucks.

I love my country
I am appalled by my government
