Colorado Paul Delegates Won't Support Romney

As reported by KDVR and the The Denver Post:

TAMPA — Though Colorado Ron Paul delegates know they don't have a path to victory, it doesn't mean they will fake admiration for Mitt Romney at the Republican National Convention.

Of Colorado's 36 delegates, eight stopped short of supporting Romney and his running mate Rep. Paul Ryan in a voice vote Monday at a delegation meeting.

"We hold our principles and our constitution higher than our party's success," said 23-year-old Jeremy Strand, a Paul supporter from Lakewood and a delegate. "All of us would agree that he (Romney) is not exactly a Republican."

I am confused. Why did these

I am confused. Why did these people abstain rather than casting their votes for Dr. Paul, as their counterparts did in the other states?

The chairman (Ryan Call) was saying that he could recast their votes to Romney, since Paul didn't have a plurality. But since it wouldn't have made a difference anyway, they should have just risked it. They could have just as easily abstained from home.

Thanks. I hope those for Ron

Thanks. I hope those for Ron Paul participated in the Liberty Delegates Press Conference, and continue to make their stories known.

I'm confused on this, since I

I'm confused on this, since I thought we had a solid 12 (to 14). It sounds like 4 Paul delegates flipped.

Read the article. About more

Read the article.

About more than a dozen delegates and alternates agreed with Strand...

...in the KDVR article, 8 abstained.

But what happened to the unity between Paul and Santorum supporters during the CD and state conventions? Hope they all stuck together

Yep, only 8.

Yeah, I just got confirmation from one of our alternates that it was only 8 delegates. Still trying to find out what happened to the other three we thought were on our side.

And Alternates??

A dozen delegates and alternates? I didn' think alternates get a vote. But the 12-14 number (which I think was 12 Paulers +2 likely Santorum people), was suppose to be our delegate count. We have many more if we include alternates (I know of at least 3 alternates there from CD 5 who would never vote for Romney).

Bravo Patriots.

Stsnd your ground.

Thank you for staying true to what we the delegates at the Colorado State Convention sent you to Tampa to do!
Please explain to Kaye Ferry Eagle County GOP chair how Romney's attorney is trying to change the rules to kill all future dissent and control all future delegates contrary to the process we all took part in.

As a delegate from Boulder County

let me second your comment, and encourage our Colorado delegates to stand on principle. My heart and prayers are with them today in Tampa.

Good job. You don't have to

Good job. You don't have to support Romney. Just don't. :)
