Gary Johnson counting on Ron Paul's backers to Switch

Libertarian presidential candidate and would-be spoiler Gary Johnson smoked out new campaign cash here this week.

But his hopes are just a pipe dream unless he wins over Republican voters loyal to never-say-quit candidate Ron Paul.

"Hundreds" of Republicans have promised Johnson they will switch his way if the Republican National Convention nominates Mitt Romney on Aug. 30, Johnson said Thursday.

"That's hundreds telling me personally, which means how many more?" Johnson said during a six-day Texas campaign swing.

He predicted a "gigantic influx" of support after Romney is nominated.

"People are holding out hope for Ron," said Johnson, a former New Mexico governor.

"After that, who represents Ron's voice best? Romney? Or me?"

He better count again.

Just a big government republican in sheep's clothing.

The sheep are falling for it.

Free includes debt-free!

nah, i swear he is closer to a big government democrat

I'd rather fight than switch.

I'd rather fight than switch.

So okay, I fought and got my ass kicked, so I guess it's time to switch.

If I have a reason to visit the polls in Nov I pledge to vote for GJ, but he doesn't excite me. He ain't no Ron Paul. Not even close.

Never trouble trouble til trouble troubles you. Fortune Cookie

Gary Johnson and his 23%

Gary Johnson and his 23% sales tax, his baby killing, and his preemptive wars. LOL, no way i will support him.

Don't forget his federal

Don't forget his federal mandate that states be forced to recognize gay marriage.

Ron Paul 2012 - It's Almost Here!

I suggest that he adjust some

I suggest that he adjust some of his positions, especially in regard to "humanitarian" wars. He is currently too much like a neoconservative to pull the support he needs.

Not just humanitarian

Not just humanitarian wars...but keeping our bases in the Middle East...and saying that he may support some kind of action against Iran...And supporting a 23% national sales tax....And supporting forcing every small business to become a federal tax collector...and supporting a federal mandate that states be forced to recognize gay marriage... The guy is a joke and is certainly no liberty candidate.

He is a fraud..Don't fall for it. I would rather have no candidate or wrote-in Ron's name (whether it counts or not) than support a fraud like Johnson.

Ron Paul 2012 - It's Almost Here!

Let's be fair here

He's calling for a 43% reduction in military spending. That would be an unprecedented move in the right direction.

He supports a sales tax to replace the IRS as a pathway to minimal taxation and the simplfication of the code. No one, including Ron Paul, could eliminate federal taxes entirely in one term.

Gay Marriage is about 137th on most people's priority lists in this time of economic crisis.

Yes...Let;s be fair..

Calling Johnson a fraud is being too kind.

His 23% national sales tax is a tax hike. It also forces every small business to become a federal tax collector.

The issue is not about gay marriage. It's about Johnson's position that the federal government has the right to FORCE the states into something that is not even mentioned in the Constitution.

He is a phony and a fraud. Don't fall for it. Write in Ron Paul.
