Thanks for contacting me to urge my support of HR 3806, the One Subject at a Time Act. As you know, this bill would limit any legislation to a single subject.
I won't be supporting this bill because it is a change that I don't believe is necessary -- and in fact would be harmful to effective governing.
In order for Congress to do our job it is often necessary to combine multiple subjects into a single bill. That is especially true if we are going to pay for new initiatives that are created.
This simple-minded bill might make a nice sound bite, but it would be terrible policy if enacted.
