Justin Amash Calls for Audit of RNC Over Treatment of Paul Delegates

The New American: During an August 26 rally for Ron Paul in Tampa, Florida, with nearly 10,000 supporters in attendance, libertarian-leaning Representative Justin Amash (R-Mich.) called for an audit of the Republican National Committee after it seated delegates from states with a great deal of support for Ron Paul at the edges of the convention floor.

The Houston Chronicle reports, “Delegates from U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, and the Northern Marianas Islands get better seats than Ron Paul’s supporters.”

According to a convention seating chart obtained by Politico, “the delegations from Nevada, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota and Oklahoma all located on the outer fringe of the convention floor. Each are states with significant Paul followings.”

Paul’s campaign manager, Jesse Benton, who has been accused by Ron Paul’s supporters of being a neoconservative saboteur, did not consider the RNC's seating choice for Paul delegates an issue. “I am glad so many of our delegates get to sit close together,” he said.

Bump!

!

Justin Amash has a big fat 0 by his name in my book

Anyone that endorsed Romney can join the ranks of Rand Paul in my book I would not vote for him if he was in my state. He succumbed to the RNC and I will never send him money again.

what we need to do is

Take over the party from the ground up!

LIBERTY2ME's picture

I feel like the title of this

I feel like the title of this article is a little deceiving. Justin Amash said "audit the RNC" at the Ron Paul rally, but is he actually going ot do this? I thought it was just said by him in jest, a play on "audit the Fed" just because of what was happening at the time.
Is he actually going to do it?

If!

If there is ever a law suit and files are charged, I think Jesse benton should be included in the suit. He is a traitor to the cause. But I know, that will not happen. But I think we all know here, who Jesse really works for.

Gives Me Hope

As a 22-year-old born and raised NYC resident and recent college graduate (this past May) of Lebanese/Palestinian Catholic descent, this man gives me incredible hope. I have been such an avid Ron Paul supporter since I first heard about him when I was 15, and have bothered my friends and family over the years about Dr. Paul to the point that they think I secretly work for him.

I have aspirations to go to law school and earn myself a decent living, which is not an easy thing to do in this current economy and especially in a city like New York. However, the determination and effort shown by young leaders like Amash gives me hope that not only can I succeed but that America is tolerant enough to elect someone of my background to office one day.

Ever since I can remember I wanted to be in politics, serving in Congress and representing New York State with libertarian and constitutional principles that Ron Paul instilled in me as far back as 7 years ago. I am going to continue studying so hard for the LSAT, working my butt off through law school just like Justin did, and hopefully be in a position one day to make a difference and stand up for the principles this country was founded on. My parents came here as immigrants in the 1980s due to their desire to capture the opportunity here, and I refuse to let my future children inherit a country where police state measures and intrusive government have ruined that.

Bravo Justin Amash, you are doing even more good than you think.

More power

to you, and read "The Client" by John Grisham if you have not already and be prepared....

Audit the RNC?

I love it. This could get nasty.

And who - which branch of gov't - do you think

has the authority to instigate? I think it would be great but just how?

Justin Amash did NOT endorse Romney

Justin Amash did NOT endorse Romney. He posted on his facebook when Romney chose his VP and said congratulations Paul Ryan on VP pick. That was NOT an endorsement. the next week he posted. I endorsed Ron Paul and will NOT be endorsing anyone else.
I emailed the editor of this false information.

Looks like someone else smells a rat in

Jesse Benton. Hey, but that's Ron Paul's choice. I can only wonder what a Ron Paul presidency could have been, had his campaign been handled by hard nosed pros.

alan laney

have you ever thought that

have you ever thought that Benton et. al realize how the party works, in that it can essentially remove every Paul delegate if it desires? the campaign is making the best of a grave situation.

so when benton said we can't win, was he right or was he right? the RNC has the ability to vote out any paul influence, which i'm sure benton was well aware of.

agree that Dr. Paul's campaign directors (whatever word . . .

is used) may have been less than competent and even naive and even easily stepped upon--

. . .

but Dr. Paul doesn't 'hang out' with the sorts of hardball players that Romney hired as his political thugs--

this is why he didn't win; he is nice--

he is nice and right--

would *we* rather he be not nice and right; well, he wouldn't be right if he were mean--

this nation is not ready for, does not want (as a majority) someone with diplomatic skills and integrity, together. Dr. Paul has had both, and so he lost--

but his message got out, and perhaps when more Americans realize that being cut-throat isn't the happy way to freedom any more than waging unconstitutional wars or redistributing wealth (so that the wealthiest win, the middle class suffers, and the poor are merely kept poor) is the path to freedom--

The United States of America is not ready for Ron Paul to be POTUS--

but many are ready for his message, and *we* will go on--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

I really don't like to keep

I really don't like to keep bagging on Benton but I knew he was wrong for the position way back when he said something to the effect ... that we don't expect to win this ... I thought he needed to go then, too bad he wasn't fired and replaced when he said it, who knows how things would have gone with someone more seasoned and savvy, one who believed Ron Paul could win. Now I wouldn't even trust him as a body guard.

“I am glad so many of our delegates get to sit close together.”

Yeah, that's nice, so they can all rise and go to the lavatories together... when they feel they're going to be sick.

When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.
~ John Muir

I am so glad...delegates could sit together.

What kind of a statement was that?
Was it sarcastic or naïve?

The law cannot make a wicked person virtuous…God’s grace alone can accomplish such a thing.
Ron Paul - The Revolution

Setting a good example is a far better way to spread ideals than through force of arms. Ron Paul

He was just trying to make lemonade

Out of RNC piss.

I tip my glass to those...

who thought Jesse Benton was somehow on the side of Liberty.

John Conlee had a big hit called Rose Colored Glasses. I hope everyone will take theirs off now. Living in denial of reality is unhealthy.

that's a kind thing for him to do . . .

after he endorsed Romney!

*sarcasm*

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

Every time I think I can't be

Every time I think I can't be more disgusted with Benton than I already am, he says something even more idiotic.

The son Ron should have had.

The son Ron should have had.

We are all Ron's children.

We are all Ron's children.

um . . .

that's a little weird--

I'm not young enough to be his child--

!

But . . . that might be carrying admiration for him a little far--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

Sorry it was a failed play on

Sorry it was a failed play on words, although I do often think to myself, "What Would Ron Paul Do?"

you're all right . . .

I have sore toes right now, but you didn't step on them--

have a good day and peace--

we all need it, certainly--

:)

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

Love conservative aggressiveness.

Congrats Jesse, er ... I mean Justin.

Love how Jesse comes off looking so loveable-LOL!

This is uplifting news.
