When Does Rand Speak?

And will he stick to the script or call that den of vipers out for their criminality and betrayal of everything that this country once stood for?

He speaks

when Romney's hand moves.

LOL

I still like Rand but this was funny!

Hahahahahahaha

Thanks for the guffaw

Any speech by Rand

will be written and fully approved by the Romney handlers. Rand will go along with this because he is not and never will be the man his father is. How can we expect that kind of greatness from anyone who wants to be a carreer GOP politician? Rand is OK, but he is not going to be the leader of our movement. I wonder who will step up next to try and fill Dr Paul's impossibly large shoes.

He's speaking today

He'll be talking about auditing the Fed and more importantly auditing the Pentagon.

Many, many people on the DailyPaul seem to be ignoring the fact that Ron AND Rand helped get many new things into the GOP platform including internet freedom, auditing the fed, a gold standard, the need for a warrant for every drone flight, and many other good things. I honestly don't think any of this would have happened if Rand hadn't endorsed Romney. The GOP still hates Ron Paul, disrespects him, and would prefer to only have their Neocon agenda going forward.

Didn't hear any of that. I did hear Rand tell us that Mitt Romney was the guy to lead the country forward.

Maybe that's why Ron couldn't be bothered to stick around and watch his son give the biggest speech of his life.

gold = money
war = health of the state
liberty = prosperity

Who gives a shit?

Not me.

The RNC dumped him. He was to speak Monday.

So he will not be speaking.

They rescheduled him

He will speak between 7 and 8 Eastern tonight. Probably around 7:30.

Rand Paul can earn my trust back...

...if he even mentions that his dad should have been allowed to be nominated from the floor. If he's not even willing to make that simple stand for liberty, there is little he could ever do to earn back my trust. So what will it be Rand? Your father? Or your career?

Don't hold your breath

He was on tv earlier saying how fairly we were treated and how he expects we will get onboard because of the End the Fed plank in the platform

Yes

Because that sort of rhetoric is way better and more effective than maintaining an awesome voting record.

Yay for rhetoric and martyrish stands over actual votes and legislation!

Actual votes?

You mean like those wonderful sanctions against Iran? I'm not saying what Rand Paul should do politically. I'm no political expert. I'm only saying what he should do if he wants my full 100% support along with my time and money. I have little enough of both that I have to be very picky about where I spend them.

Oh wait

You mean the ones that only apply against their central bank? You mean how he spoke out against all the other sanctions? Oh you mean how the sanctions would have been MUCH harsher had he not fought so strongly against them?

http://rt.com/usa/news/paul-iran-war-us-704/

Yeah, sure was a jerk move all that. How quickly people forget...

But, since we're so awash with liberty candidates, who would you say is the strongest fighter for Liberty in the Senate? Who is the leader of our cause in that building?

So sick of people trying to claim the sanctions against Iran as his "aha, see! I gotcha! Rand is totally a neocon and loves war! Bought and sold!" vote. The man SINGLEHANDEDLY held up the Patriot Act to the last possible second, and they had to flout a ton of rules and send a machine to Obama overseas so he could sign it.

How quickly we turn our backs on those who support us.

Eric Hoffer

Eric, you make some good points...

...and knowing that you've given a lot to the cause of liberty and put yourself out there sort of helps me see your point of view a little more clearly. I guess I still don't understand what Rand thinks he will gain by a Romney endorsement. But you're right that it's not an excuse to tear down the best liberty minded senator we have. Please accept my apology for speaking so harshly.

Holy...

Well that was unexpected.

I don't usually get those, lol, so I'm a bit taken aback now.

Thank you. Honestly? I don't think he has a concrete idea of what he'll gain. Maybe he does, but it seems more to me like a, "I think this will make main line GOP guys like me more and won't really cost me anything except in face." He knew he was going to catch a ton of crap from us and that we'd be pissed, but I kind of think he hoped that we'd ignore the rhetoric and keep focused on the results eventually.

Usually what I use to know if a guy is an idiot is a "everybody likes him but his record is crap" test. The thing we can all see is that second to Paul Ryan, Rand Paul is one of the most liked guys in the GOP right now. He's been able to sway Jim Demint on a few foreign policy things to our side, which is a huge deal because Demint has such a following. He's doing what Ron never managed to do, which is lead among his peers. It was a problem that Ron didn't have any peers. He was pure and awesome and that makes people nervous. It's why I love him honestly, but like they say, a prophet is never accepted in his homeland.

I like Rand's votes and how he acts in the Senate. He's been a real thorn in the establishment backside, but he's managed to do it while swaying neo-conservatives somehow. I don't like his rhetoric for the most part, but I've learned to accept it as the "how it gets done" part of what he's doing.

Eric Hoffer

Yeah, it totally sucks that

Yeah, it totally sucks that there are very few people who have the principles to do both.

Erm

You realize you can't do much after the martyrdom right?

Sorry, but you either get to choose one now.

1. Person who's rhetoric matches the scumbags but who's votes advance our cause and who is totally in line with our philosophies in terms of what he gets done.
2. Person who's rhetoric matches our, but who gets what the scumbags want done when it comes to voting.

I'm sorry, but sometimes you have to blend in in order to get what you want done. In terms of actual votes, Ron got nothing done. He saved his soul in that snake pit, and I'm proud of him for it. His actions give us the strength and fortitude we need to fight on now, even if he was ignored for 30 years. The problem is that in order to sway these corrupt politicians, sometimes you have to talk their language. If he has to pull the wool over some neocon eyes to get some Liberty done, I'm fine with it. I don't want him sacrificing himself on the bed of, "You were mean to my Dad and screwed him!" because then he goes bye bye and we lose our only guy in the Senate who is leading the charge.

I'm sorry, but I'd rather he kiss GOP behind all day but then votes for our votes and does things like filibuster the Patriot Act. I'm totally fine with rhetorical butt kissing as long as he has a spine when it comes to the actual votes.

Eric Hoffer

Nah, sorry, I have a

Nah, sorry, I have a different perspective on this issue, I see your point but respectfully disagree. When I had a job that required me to give up some of my principles to remain employed, I resigned despite the difficult economy and am much better for it. That is how I try to live my life, no grey areas and that's why Ron Paul is such a hero to me. I'm sure many agree with your stance, and that's understandable and can get things accomplished, but it doesn't work for me.

Your choice

That's your call, although I do want to give you some friendly encouragement to bring that vision to a GOP meeting, to sit your ass on a committee, and to influence everyone else to act as you do.

I think we'd all prefer if the GOP were made up of people of your caliber. I just know that sometimes we have to take incremental steps. However, we also need people like you to keep pushing those steps forward and saying, "This is where we should be striving to go. This is our goal."

Eric Hoffer

He will script it

Definitely!
