Ron Paul Won

In all fields of human endeavor, winning by cheating is losing.

In a competition, when someone cheats, he gets disqualified. The disqualification does not make the runner-up the winner. Rather, it reveals that the man who appeared to be the runner-up had in fact been the winner all along.

In the race for the GOP nomination for President, therefore, Ron Paul won.

As the New York Times wrote yesterday,

Delegates from Nevada tried to nominate Mr. Paul from the floor, submitting petitions from their own state as well as Minnesota, Maine, Iowa, Oregon, Alaska and the Virgin Islands. That should have done the trick: Rules require signatures from just five states. But the party changed the rules on the spot. Henceforth, delegates must gather petitions from eight states.

When Mr. Romney and the RNC cheat so blatantly, they make the game no longer about politics: they make themselves ineligible for the vote of anyone who cares about his own morality, his own honesty or his own integrity – regardless of his politics. And from a purely practical standpoint, they invite Americans to ask if they want to live in a nation governed with the same contempt for those who don’t toe the party line as has been displayed both in Tampa and throughout the primary process.

But as a Ron Paul supporter, I can’t remember feeling so invigorated and empowered in my cause.

Not only did my candidate win: the GOP has given the Liberty movement a greatest gift it could have given us. It has induced a righteous indignation will ensure that there will be no lull in the Liberty movement post-convention or post-election. It has educated us; it has brought us together like only a common hurt can, and it has freed us to do whatever needs to be done for the cause we love, wherever we need to do it.

2012-08-29-ThankyouCard.jpg

To those in the Liberty movement who in the first flush of anger are saying they will never vote GOP again, I would humbly suggest that there is no better revenge than success, and that success, therefore, is a dish best served cold.

Ron Paul has been fighting for the cause of freedom for 30 years. Even if Romney were to win the election in November – a possibility now massively reduced by the disenfranchisement of a large minority of Republicans who comprise its most energetic activists – eventually he’ll be just another ex-President. But the GOP’s behavior has just about ensured that Liberty will never be just another ex-movement. Thanks to GOP, a hardened, indignant and wiser Liberty movement will be as much “here” in four years or eight years as the Constitution will be.

And each time one of the main parties blatantly chooses power over honesty and fairness, it opens the unconverted to one of the most important messages of the Liberty movement: that the answers to our problems may not be found in the platforms or most of the people of the main parties that created them.

When I was observing the GOP caucuses in Seattle, I was able to ask a number of caucus goers who they voted for. Everyone I asked who was under 40 was there for Ron Paul. Everyone I asked who was over 65 was there for Mitt Romney. The younger adults would explain why they liked their candidate with passion, conviction, excitement and an unusual understanding of issues – in other words, the stuff that victories are made of. The senior citizens – every one of them – gave as justification for their support of Romney, “He’s the man who can beat Obama”. (The logic didn’t work so well for John Kerry, as I recall.)

I wanted to help them see the flaw in their answer by asking why they’d want to replace a large bank-funded, Patriot Act-supporting, NDAA-supporting, interventionist who doesn’t have a plan to reduce government spending in the foreseeable future with a …

You see, of course, why I couldn’t ask the question.

More to the point, the people who “like Romney” are the outgoing seniors. The future of the party will comprise, out of simple biological necessity, those younger, liberty-loving, peace-mongering Constitutionalists, the likes of whom the RNC has worked so hard to put down.

That’s exciting.

But things are even more exciting if I am wrong.

Think for a minute what happens to all these excitable young people if the GOP old-guard stick around for long-enough to succeed in thwarting every effort the Paul supporters make to take over the party. In that case, the GOP will achieve something that no third party has: it will make third parties credible and their support significant. We may even look back at the 28 Aug. as the day when the seed of a brand new party was sown. Stranger things have happened.

Whichever way it goes, the GOP’s failure to integrate its liberty wing will seriously endanger the duopolistic political system on which they have depended for so long because the liberty movement is now simply too large to disappear.

Whether this liberty movement of critical mass changes the mainstream of US politics by controlling the GOP, or by becoming the philosophically coherent minority that swings elections is, in the long-run, a choice for the Republican party to make. However, for this election cycle, the GOP appears to have made its choice.

It doesn’t really matter: a paradigm shift is already under way. As I wrote in "Ron Paul Can Win", the best piece of evidence that this is so is that the means used to by those with an interest in the old, prevailing paradigm to maintain it become more contorted, and increasingly dependent on ignoring large chunks of reality – like the social and cultural phenomenon of hundreds of thousands of the nation’s youth filling stadiuns to hear an old conservative politicians talk about even older philosophers and economists; the brute fact that the number of non-supporters of the main parties is unprecedented, or the simple expectation of fair play in competitive endeavors.

To my liberty and peace-loving friends, I urge that our responsibility in November is to put the mainstream on notice that the Independent, post-partisan middle is now liberty-dominated and large enough to turn elections.

If the mainstream knows this, they will be forced – out of shear self-interest and love of power - to give civil rights, peace and real markets more than lip-service. Remember, in a two-party system, the candidate who wins over the median swing voter wins the election. Controlling the “politics of the middle” therefore offers disproportionate political influence.

To that end, write in Ron Paul if a write-in vote will be counted in your state. If Ron Paul endorses someone, vote for him. Otherwise, vote Gary Johnson (or your favored third party candidate). Just remember that we wield influence by demonstrating to the GOP and DNC that we are the group that swings elections from now on. Therefore, a vote against Obamney is not enough. Even a vote via write-in for Paul is not enough if no one will ever see it. Constitutionalists, libertarians, Blue Republicans, down-the-line pro-peace progressives, protest voters etc. must vote for Paul’s principles and get that vote counted.

I remain a Ron Paul loyalist. I suspect that the most principled politician of our time would consider a vote cast in good conscience for his values to be a vote for him. In fact, if you’ve come this far as a supporter of Dr. Paul, however you decide to vote in the November in support of his values, you can probably say without too much of a stretch, “I voted for Ron Paul in 2012”.

But for sure, you can already say that you supported him when he won the GOP nomination, because that, by any honest measure, is just what he did.

The Republicrats only have their duopoly if we give it to them. And you know what you get if you vote for the lesser of two evils, don’t you?

Hint: the answer is in the question.

yes Ron Paul Won

Not only that but : “War is Peace” Freedom is Slavery” and “Ignorance is Strength.”

You can not fix a problem if you do not understand what the problem is. Worse; you can not fix it, if you pretend that it is not there. If you want to see an excellent example of defining away a problem, then read Feynmans minority report on the Challenger Explosion. People a lot smarter than the author of this foolishness --- they were rocket scientists after all --- attempted to define away the failures of critical pieces of the shuttle system. We know how that ended.

See more. Enter the two words orwells boot into any search engine and read the first article that comes back. For even more education, go to the link http://xfoolnature.org/?p=10. Be warned. It is a two hour read. The upside is that --- well read it.

Yes he did win... He did not

Yes he did win... He did not have to set around at the convention and listen to boring speech after boring speech full of lip service and lies.

I believe everything we do

I believe everything we do should be about local races from here forward. State representatives, Sheriffs, city council positions, and so on. These races cost much less, they are very winnable, they can secure us a great deal of liberty and states can push back against Federal legislation with nullification. Local races are also off the radar of the MSM. That means less smear and lies in the race as well as a more level playing field between local and online media. There are many advantages to a local race strategy.

Way to go Trevor

To My Business Associates

Hi Everyone,

I realize that in the past our relationship has been business.

I turn 65 in a couple months and I am very concerned about the world I will leave behind. Having watched and been the victim of corruption in my home town for the past 30 years and now watching the Republican National Convention, I felt compelled to draw your attention to what I believe should be our first order of BUSINESS.

To reclaim liberty in this country!

It is time for a victory over corruption and a write in vote by you and me will change the course of history!

Coalition is what we need now

Robin, What happens if progressives wake up in 2016 and we get 20% voting for a real progressive and 20% voting for a real libertarian and one of the other two candidates winning with a little over 30%? Time to get started on a real coalition team with a real coalition plan so we don't have to wait until 2020 or 2024 when the actuarial tables give one of us the victory we want (maybe). BTW the 2016 GOP ticket will be Huckabee/Martinez, not Paul/Amash.

I'm voting 3rd party for President

Republican for senate. Republican for house. We have an emergency now I thijk, since the GOP is throwing it to Obama. We really need to get that senate cleaned out. They're in their own club w lifetime memberships. 50 little gods beyond recall. We need to go back to the state's appointing the senators.

which states count write ins

?

More correctly, Ron Paul was cheated, twice, out of victory,

Both in 2008 and 2012.

Dr. Paul is not to blame for any of it. If they wouldn't have cheated and brutalized him, slandered and maligned him, he could well have won. The man worked tirelessly on our behalf. He started a revolution. He is to be commended. God bless him.

The problem is he endorsed his own brutalization

He said nothing about the primaries being provably rigged.

He said nothing about the state conventions being rigged - in fact, he demanded his supporters just take the beatings and be "respectful" about it.

He said nothing about the RNC breaking it's own rules regarding the delegates.

Worst of all, the campaign ENDORSED all this via Rand (who was part of the campaign).

Ron Paul had the path to victory, yet his campaign wound up the show at the moment of victory and left their delegates in the cold.

Ron Paul STILL HAS a path to victory (3rd party with Jesse Ventura). Of course, the campaign won't take that path because if they did, it would mean they would win - and that's the last thing his campaign wants (you can thank his wonderful advisors for that).

This was all about setting up little Rand (who will be thrown out next election IMO).

Suckered again America!

Ron Paul LOST

Get this through your head - RON PAUL LOST.

He was cheated at the primaries, at the state conventions and at the RNC. The real tally had Paul winning by a LANDSLIDE which is self-evident by his crowds vs every other candidate (combined). Ron Paul was cheated and he did NOTHING to defend himself. In fact, he took the wind out of his own sails just after Bilderberg. His own son supported the candidate engaged in the criminal vote fraud which is just astonishing considering the reality of the situation.

It's a BIG LOSS for liberty and a BIG LOSS for the republic and BIG LOSS for all his backers who contributed in excess of 50 million dollars.

To perform some mental gymnastics and convince yourself of some victory is merely DELUSION.

The only positive here is that more sheep now get that the system is rigged and always has been. That it took this to expose it is certainly NOT a victory. Will these new awakened sheep be effective in any way? Let's "hope" so, but I'm certainly not betting on it.

Hope that clarifies your understanding.

I agree

Ron Paul looked timid in the face of corruption. There is no compromise with evil (to coin a neocon phrase).

Hey GOP, where's my vote?

Chant with me...

WE'LL REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER!

WE'LL REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER!!

WE'LL REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER!!!

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

They lost me today. I'm outta this party after...

...writing in Ron Paul in November.

At least the Libertarians appear to be HONEST in their proceedings.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

dont let them

have their party back....lets keep taking it over.

Please delete my account Due to Mr.Nystom rewriting one of my post under my name.

I Think We're Better Off Joining The Libertarians....

The GOP powers that be will stoop as low as necessary to keep control. The Republican Party has a stigma attached to it that can only dilute Campaign for Liberty. We would advance quicker if we dropped the GOP Republican baggage.

If 15% of the Republican Party and 15% of the Democratic Party joined with Libertarians or created a Liberty Party, we could have a majority 1/3 that can have real power and influence.

The Revolution needs to break free of a corrupt party and let it die on its own.

Our angle could be what Libertarians have always tried to show that there really is no difference between the Republicans and Democrats.

I doubt it will happen with Rand trying to kowtow to the GOP, but I wish Ron Paul would back Gary Johnson. Of course, Rand backed Romney over his own father.

The best part is

We don't have to change our party affiliation to vote for GJ in November so we can hit a double homerun on this one 1. We can bring our grassroots social media attack and get GJ the popularity and possibly the presidency. 2. By us doing that the RNC will see exactly what they just threw away, and next election cycle our candidate whoever he/she may be will be the mainstream.

sincerely,
Mike G.

The Grand Shi Strategy of Ron Paul - Forbes

The article was posted a month ago on dailypaul.Seems appropriate now.
http://www.forbes.com/sites/realspin/2012/07/29/the-grand-sh...

My thoghts:
There will be many tears from those feeling the same as I do as we view the video tribute shown by a political machine that treated such an esteemed statesman with such blatant disregard. Looking forward our consolation is the appreciation for what Ron Paul gave to us and his grace and ability to rise above fluid and ever-changing political events to face the next challenge. As a retired baby boomer, my vote for Ron Paul may be the last one I will forever truly treasure as a reflection of my newly gained political awareness, independence and freedom as a critical thinker. Thank you Dr. Paul for showing us how we can become eventual winners to make a difference in a plutocratic authoritarian national state where freedoms must be hard fought and won one step at a time. We have learned that our adversaries are strong, but liberty is stronger.

Romney speaks to people with promises and declarations that he will save them. He will be relegated to history as a politician years from now the same as Obama. Neither will be remembered for their exceptionality except for their deleterious support of such destructive things as NDAA, their undeclared war positions, government mandates and bailouts and support of the Fed and a plutocratic and authoritarian vs. democratic form of government. We know their promises speak louder than their ability, desire or intention to deliver on those promises.

By contrast Ron Paul will be remembered as a master strategist who lit a fire and started a revolution the results of which will prevail many year to come. He inspired ordinary citizens to believe the world can be a better place if people get involved and work together to fight for their freedoms. We pay homage to you Dr. Paul, a true patriot, gentleman, historian, teacher, leader and visionary by our commitment to spread your message. We shall remember Maine and every patriot for whom those delegates fought to defend and support. As in life, the journey there is our greatest reward knowing we are clearing the path for the many who will follow like the Shi force of water, “ultimately overcoming everything in its path.”

Thanks!

I didn't realize it was nonfunctioning link. Glad you caught it!

Everyone in Politics LOSES.

Dr. Paul hasn't been practicing Politics. He's an anarchist at heart and has been promoting Liberty, not running for the contemptible white house.

From the start, this has all been about waking up the sheeple to see that ALL politics always results in loss of liberty. Even when the liberty-minded have the numbers, the bad guys cheat and get away with it.

That's the way it has always been, and that's the only way it will ever be. This trend has never and will never be broken, excepting only by war; It can't peacefully be done; that's against the strict laws of the universe.

Paul knew this all along. If you want to be true to the good doctor, simply ignore the politicians, ignore the GOP, and be a mouthpiece for liberty, waking sheeple up in whichever way YOU feel comfortable with.

Read great libertarians and convince others to do the same. Eventually when the majority of the planet does so we can shrug off this parisitical evil group called politicians and get on with liberty for the first time in human history.

HONEST RON 2012!
LEGALIZE LIBERTY!

Once again Robin has "stolen" my article.

As soon as I had had the time, energy, and had allowed my blood temperature to drop somewhere below 212 degrees F, I had fully intended to post an article entitled "How Mitt Romney saved the Republic".

The body of the article would have said essentially what he has already written, if not so eloquently.

Thanks again, Robin, for expressing my thoughts so well.

On a not so slight note,

Robin, Dr. Paul always aspired to be a Statesman, as per, "Lovey", Carol Paul. Never ever, a "politician."

Otherwise, spot on, my friend. Very well said!

I hope from here on out people learn to refer to Dr. Paul as a Statesman and begin to think of him as such, not unlike Churchill, tho different times, different circumstances, notwithstanding.

I have been thinking this is the way to go. I wrote in dr paul in 08. I dont know much about gj but i have noticed he doesnt get much love here. However, i would rather make it known that i would rather vote 3rd party before voting for any of the bums the 2parties continue to put out.

Which states count write ins?

Dr. Paul will not endorse anyone.

Paul later said in a broadcast interview that he has no plans to endorse anyone for president. "I am endorsing, you know, peace and prosperity and individual liberty, the Constitution, and I'm more intense on that than I am on the politics of it," Paul told Fox News.
http://www.usnews.com/news/politics/articles/2012/08/28/gop-...

then i recommend you choose from option nos.

1, 3A, or 3B.

My first paragraph was a quote from the author. I think he included option 2 to be diplomatic.

I do think it is most important that we send a message to the establishment that they fucked up. We should try to bring as many people on our ship as possible but make it known that RP would have done better than Romney against obama contrary to the narrative that "won" mittens the nomination. To me that is step one in breaking the propaganda matrix

As a side note: I wasnt expecting dr paul to endorse anyone. The cool thing about him is that I already know where he stands before he confirms it. He is that consistent

I'd rather die, than join your stupid club.

Reminds me of the folks

who say a vote for Paul is a vote for Obama. If Rmoney's victory is a result of cheating -- and it is -- then you can't logically blame Paul's loss on a lack of dedicated supporters.

I know you feel bad. We all do. But let's leave the scapegoating game to the RNC, shall we?

Paul/Ventura 2012

Don't hate the player, hate the game!!!

Nah. Ventura is an

Nah. Ventura is an intellectual lightweight.

It's even better than that

My closest friends are people who, with me, were present at Ron Paul's announcement for office in 1974. One of them was a personal friend of Murray Rothbard. Another taught college econ and knew Ron and his family in Lake Jackson. He gave Ron his personal reading list on Austrian Economics, about late '72/early '73. My family lived in the district he was about to run for.

This movement, and Ron will say this first, is so much larger, older and more profound than even the modern libertarians understand. We, who started chapters of the Libertarian Party in Texas in the '70's, and the Republican Liberty Caucus in the late 80's have some idea, and we are proud bit players in this great human struggle for liberty.

Ron Paul deserves every bit of veneration he gets, and has secured his place in history as the greatest champion of human liberty in the 20th Century, and a good bit of the 21st, with no stopping in sight.

This is a truly proud moment, to have our torch carried forward by the finest young people this planet has to offer. Our faith in the correctness of our message is fully vindicated. Thank you for your dedication and extremely hard work. Now you know what kind of totalitarian insanity we are faced with - an insanity that causes well-meaning people to flip their entire belief system and personal philosophy on it's head and never bat an eye, never see their complicity in the complete 180-degree reversal of the basic moral foundations and values of America.

So, welcome to the real movement, that one that will never rest. In the master opus Cryptonomicon, Neal Stephenson penned one of the most perceptive thoughts ever.

The protagonists were setting up a totally (as in, beyond any government surveillance) secure offshore server farm known as the Data Haven, on a remote island that was already host to major undersea cables and microwave transfer towers. The hero maintained that they needed 4096-bit encryption to be secure from snooping. His partner exclaimed, "dude, it already takes a supercomputer weeks to break 128-bit, how long do you think we will need this kind of security?" His answer: "As long as there are men who want to steal."

The libertarian ideal feeds the dreams of all mankind, whether by that name or another. Meanwhile the terrified totalitarian arms-dealer bankster monsters that rule us will attempt, as they just have in Tampa, to stomp out this movement. On the other hand, we are definitely winning the intellectual battle, and have exposed the craven paranoia and the shallow, cheap imitation of leadership the Republican Party has chosen for it's representation.

We must all hang together, or as they say, risk hanging separately. Hold your families, friends and allies close, this is going to be a very rough ride, and innocent people will be victimized by the poor aim of the state and it's henchmen. Let us scream bloody murder at every victim of state brutality, every lie, keep lists on websites, every whistleblower saluted, let's wire ourselves together in a network of unbreakable links.

They have overplayed their hand, their mendacity is obvious to all. Romney will probably lose. Let's be faithful to Liberty, not jingoist nonsense. Gary Johnson is perfectly qualified and a great choice to be the next president of the United States. You see, the movement is so strong and mature that it even came with a built-in Plan B in the likely case Ron was shut out of the GOP. No problemo, let's go get 'em, kids!

About sums up how I feel. Odly, had the GOP played by the rules, it may have actually decelerated the Liberty movement, or at least not been as powerful a catalyst.

Reminds me of the days I was a "robo" emailer, thread commentator, and internet poll taker in 2007-08, haha, just to break past that MSM veil as best I could. Not a delegate at that time, that experience led me to make it to State delegate in 2012, and you can be sure I will be one in 2014 and from now on.

"Ron Paul Won" Thanks, Robin.

As we speak (so to speak), my e-mail entitled "Ron Paul Won," with a link to your article, is being read by a group of tea party friends along with my Daily Paul comment last night regarding the unseating (among others) of a Maine delegate/tea party activist, a man who'd received the fourth highest votes in the state. It had reminded me of that famous Daily News headline after President Ford refused to bail out NYC, except in this case it was...

RNC TO TEA PARTY: DROP DEAD

I believe that most of this particular group of friends (all honorable people) planned to vote for "anyone but Obama." Perhaps they still will. Or maybe, after the convention debacle, not. In any event, I wanted to be sure they understood just whom and what they'd be voting for if they did vote for Romney, and your article said it well. So, thank you.

Ron Paul won the Statesman award in my opinion though he lost

the battle for nomination.

Would it really have been that difficult for Romney (described as such a good man by his wife last night) to welcome the Ron Paul delegates and allow the retiring Congressman to be nominated on the floor? To allow the votes to be tallied respectfully and within current rules? No, it shows that Romney is not the leader he pretends to be, nor a man who cares about we the people. Romney could not be generous and show largesse toward the new and passionate group of Republicans, Independents, Libertarians, and Democrats that came into the fold for the sake of restoring the Republic.

No, Romney and the GOP machine won the nomination even though through evil behavior. Let's be clear what Ron Paul won: Ron Paul won the character test, the integrity test, the love of America test, the leadership test.

Romney showed his true colors; he is unworthy of leadership.

"That difficult"

gardeniabee says: "Would it really have been that difficult for Romney ... to welcome the Ron Paul delegates and allow [him] to be nominated on the floor?"

Yes, it would have caused his Obammunistic head to explode.

Actually, we really don't need Dr Paul to win Freedom for us - the secret to being Free is to Be Free.
