Turned in my resignation

(reigistered today, lurked for months)

After yesterday's events and the awful primaries paired with the timing of receiving a donation letter from the Texas State GOP I decided to turn in my letter of resignation and my cut up membership card to let them know my displeasure with their actions. Maybe I'll reconsider if the content of the majority of the party changes down the road.

"Chairman Munisteri,
It is with regret that I write this letter but I am officially leaving the Republican Party. After yesterday's culmination of events at the National Convention in Tampa and the series of events throughout the primaries that displayed to me behavior that is fairly unattractive I am left with no choice but to leave the party. I apologize in advance because the Republican Party of Texas was not a direct cause or instigator of the events which I will outline in detail but it merely was a silent witness to these corrupt events. For that, I cannot remain.
What reason is the Republican Party labeled “Republican” when it no longer represents that form of governing? The events of the primaries and the totalitarian program ran at the National Convention last night opened my eyes to the true nature of the Republican Party, one of lies, deception, and tyranny. The election process to choose the Republican nominee was as far from Republican as it could be. It favored a pure Democracy of the primary caucus and the heavy handedness from the top of the organization on who can and cannot stay in the race, regardless of public opinion on those candidates. The actions taken by corrupt state parties, acting on orders to suppress and deceive the Ron Paul delegate constituency, were truly reprehensible and the individuals involved should be removed from office for their deeds. They do not exemplify Republican values, American values, or the decency of human values. Yet, at the credentials committee and the permanent rules committee, these types of people were rewarded for their shady efforts and given a pat on the back for doing what they did to sabotage state conventions in favor of Mitt Romney. For that, I cannot remain.
Watching the National Convention live yesterday I could not help but notice the makeup of the RNC's base. I saw it first hand and as an alternate at the Texas State Convention. People over the age of 65 should be involved with politics but should not make up the majority of the party. This is what I saw on the convention floor. The lifeless faces of people well past their age of involvement with current events, restrained to getting news of the outside world through Fox News and chain letters in email. The alternative is accepting youth who do not watch television but instead read books on the history of conservatism, Liberty, and on historical figures both Democrat and Republican who exemplified limited government and moral standards far past the scope of today's Republican leaders. I remember back to the Texas state convention for the selection of national delegates and at large delegates that the youth, people aged 18-28, were neglected, sneered at, and given a pat on the head for their participation. Many of which were Ron Paul supporters who were excited about Liberty, the Constitution, and a truly limited conservative government. All of which coincidentally are things missing from today's Republican party. In our District elections, national delegate candidates that read off of cards or passed out expensive glossy fliers were rewarded with passage to Tampa while people speaking extemporaneously and from the heart on concrete issues like non interventionism, the federal reserve, and free market economies were shunned because these ideas required thought by the audience. I can tell you, Mr. Munisteri, that if the party's demographics do not change, and change soon, the Republican party will be no more. This election cycle saw the involvement of hundreds of thousands of young energetic voters ready to be accepted into the Republican party via Ron Paul's grassroots revolution, only to be turned away in favor of soulless skeletons with makeup and deep pockets to fill the national party's coffers. The RNC might as well have signed it's death warrant with this act. For that, I cannot remain.
I am including my shredded membership card as I can no longer carry it, as the Republican party has chosen a Joseph Stalin form of fascism over the methods of a constitutional republic. The events that transpired this election season were not by accident and were ordered from the top. And what the party wants, they will get. They will have to accept the consequences of their actions though, which will include a mass exodus from their ranks to more Liberty and Constitutionally sound parties.

For Liberty,

ps. Thanks for the pre-paid business reply envelope. "

I agree with you

entirely. I still hold out some hope for a 3rd party vote, unfortunately the R lemmings and D lemmings prevail with nothingness so well that I presume it may be worthless to bother with it.

how do we leave

the GOP? What steps need to be made? Any phone numbers will be helpful.
I want to do this today.

You should be able to get

a card at the post office to do it, or print up a page to mail in from from your State website.

It's not over.

People hurt, shamed, digusted, fatigued, and weary after this campaign cycle. I think that it's only natural that people are going to vent, make heated decisions, and just generally shut down.

I do suggest that people take a few weeks or months off and just enjoy life and the freedoms we do still have.

We are going to need to be ready for ensuing battle ahead. Whichever direction this movement go, whether full on 3rd party, or continue with the GOP takeover, we are going to need to endurance to finish the fight this time.

Have faith my friends in Liberty, the battle will NEVER be over.

The Revolution Continues..

It's going to have to be 3rd party

No way around it I am afraid. Wishful or positive thinking won't change the facts.

By the way, anything that 'we' the Liberty folks thinks sounds good in the platform, pay special attention to any of it happening were Mittens to actually win, which I am not so sure he will. I know I won't vote for him.

I agree with you completely, however, when you suggest anything other than working within the GOP and accepting people who are "mostly there" for liberty (like Rand), many people on this site froth at the mouth.

What amazes me is that the argument that we need to "infiltrate and change" still exists with the the shenanigans we've seen; I supported the idea last year but in light of the corruption cannot imagine anyone of sound mind supporting the policy.

I think some here on DP are misguided

about continuing the same path we've been on. However, there are many thousands of Liberty folks that realize it's time to move on. You can read their quotes and listen to their interviews in many places around DP and the rest of the net/news, post RNC convention and the major consensus is that it's time to go.

We can still support Rand's bills with our votes. WE don't have to be Republicans to vote and voice approval for sane bills. The Machine may well swallow Rand and quite frankly I am moving on from worrying about what Rand says for a long time after the white washing he gave to Wolf Blitzer over the cheating that happened to Liberty in this convention.

We lost the battle of Camden,

, dear esteemed General Cornwallis, so we're giving up the fight and going home. Long live his majesty George III.

George Washington.

That's all I heard you say by the way in your letter. It's called being a sunshine patriot. Wah.

the problem with THAT is.....

we have no washington.

paul's campaign, which at almost every turn has knifed itself, is not taking this to the nth degree. and the "george the third" of today is not bogged down in other affairs enough NOT to give a rat's ass about an uprising in a country which would mean "his" demise. we are squarely a threat and we are in their cross hairs always.

You are so wrong... we do have a Washington...

Sometimes moral leaders pop up in places you least expect.

What's the strategy?

Is it to get into the King's good graces by compromise and concession, or declare our independence and fight like hell?

Are you capable of putting your LP registration drive on hold...

....for even 3 seconds?

Not everything is GOP v LP.

If you can take your LP glasses off and stop thinking LP v non-LP, maybe it will help you think more clearly.

While I promote working in the GOP and do it myself, I dont frame everything in the GOP frame of reference as you do with the LP.

great. we're going to leave

great. we're going to leave the gop to the corrupt now. exactly what the estanlishment wants.

leave the GOP to the corrupt, and let them destroy each other and the party. We can come back to the GOP and rebuild it when the criminals are out of public life and the selfish, brainwashed Boomers are no longer the voting majority, and it won't be long before either of those occur.

Brilliant knee-jerk notion.

RP set a fine non-knee jerk example; why is that example lost on so many here?

Ron Paul set a brilliant

Ron Paul set a brilliant example, because he didn't "knee-jerk" into a third party. He used the GOP to put himself on the national stage, and that is the reason we are all here right now.

I can understand if it was unclear-I was agreeing w/ your

comment annica and Thank You for making it.

Bravo Patriot

Ignore the members of the Liberty Movement, who in spite of all we have seen and endured, still labor under the delusion that the corrupt bipartisan system will ever be changed from the inside out. Better to step away and no longer play the game rather than compromise your principles and work with the decayed remnants of the "Leave It To Beaver" generation.

However, don't stop educating others. Don't stop working to change the mind of others. And never give up!

Excellent letter.
You have a gift for writing, please use it. There are plenty of sites out there which accept articles from anyone. Please don't hide your talent anymore from those eager to read honest assessments on subjects Liberty-minded people are concerned about.

I do not believe for one second this and similar assertions. I

completely doubt you were ever registered R and that you were ever a true LIBERTY Movement adherent.

That said, the loss of your no doubt tremendous contributions to the cause of LIBERTY will be a near mortal blow for the movement

but we will muddle through somehow without you.

May your chains rest lightly.

I've had a GOP card since early 2011, after the midterms.

He should get a GOOD laugh

Maybe he'll send you a THANK YOU SUCKER letter back?

Afterall you did exactly what he hoped, wished and prayed for. You gave him exactly what he wanted. He's in and you're out! OUT! OUT!

Loved it!

Loved it!

Dear Ulfilas

That's we were hoping you would do.

One fight and I see all these people quitting. If you can't handle the heat, maybe that's the best thing for all of you. I'm sorry but I just can't take this garbage anymore. Bye! Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out!

We lost one battle. And you people want to quit like we lost the entire war. It doesn't make ANY sense. If you lose one game do you sit out the rest of the season? NO. If you lose one round of a fight, do you throw in the towel? NO.

You are throwing away all the hard work and effort put into electing liberty minded people and changing the party. Which we HAVE DONE. They WANT YOU TO QUIT. When you quit they solidify control. That #rncpowergrab was DESPERATION.

Much less posting all these threads about joining the LP. (Oh yeah, the LP, lets be irrelevant for another 40 years.) We've done more in ONE election cycle than the LP HAS EVER DONE or ever will do.

Downvote all you like, it's my fucking opinion, and I approve this message.

One fight and I see all these people quitting.

First of all, this is now TWO straight conventions rigged against Paul and his supporters. Second of all, nobody's "quitting," we're just sick of the filth and corruption inherent in everything the GOP says and does, and no longer want to be associated with it.

I don't play, I commission the league.

Oh boy!

Oh boy! TWO WHOLE FIGHTS! Do you know how long the neocons took to take over the party? Much Longer. You are sick of working hard and not winning the biggest prize, so you quit. That's the truth whether you like it or not.

I don't get my way so I'll go home. Go home then, I'll go fight.
If George Washington would have surrendered so easy we wouldn't be having this conversation.

I second that! I joined the

I second that! I joined the Republican party for one reason; RON PAUL.
I was never a Republican. I've been a (l)ibertarian all of my life.

We can and should all continue working together regardless of our (party) or political affiliation. That is our best hope for the future.
