This is not a day to be optimistic about the futureSubmitted by kevink on Wed, 08/29/2012 - 20:36
First off, I apologize for being gloomy but let's be honest here. We're going to get stuck w/ Obamney Rombama after all. On top of that, one of the greatest American heroes in the history of this country is retiring. Making things worse, the RNC has now seen the "loopholes" that were a grassroots candidate's path to the presidency (collecting delegates) and has changed the rules to prevent this sort of thing going forward. I'm sure Gary Johnson (who I will be voting for unless I write in Ron Paul) will be blocked from the debates in the general election. I'm sure TPTB will figure out how to prevent 3rd party candidates from being in the debates in 2016 as well.
I guess things had already degraded in this country to the point where this outcome was inevitable anyway. Does anyone really trust the electronic voting machines? Does anyone not think that if Dr. Paul had gotten 8 pluralities that the RNC would've just changed the rules again? It's a scary thought to think that we're going to have a currency crisis in this country. And it's also scary thinking about the likely response, which I'm guessing will be more wars since it's profitable for TPTB plus the Keynesians might actually believe that it's good for the economy (though I wonder if that's just an excuse to build up the MIC, which, as previously mentioned, profits TPTB).
I know people are going to say "be encouraged and energized to continue the fight for liberty", etc. I'll counter that with a line from Judge Napolitano that it's dangerous to be right when the government is wrong.
I get the feeling that the only hope for this country is that we will have a currency collapse and rioting in the streets and that the citizens will somehow force Romney to step down and simply anoint Dr. Paul POTUS. At least I can dream!
