The Creation (not ratification) of our United States Constitution September 17 AnniversarySubmitted by fonzdrew on Thu, 08/30/2012 - 03:29
September 17, 2012 marks the 225 anniversary of the creation of our United States Constitution, and 9 months later it's ratification. I was sitting at my desk with my head in my hands depressed, and angry about the resent events at the Republican convention, and what they did to Ron Paul and the delegates, and indirectly to us. Then it hit me, I'm a big cry baby, sitting here feeling sorry for myself. Our founding fathers shed blood and many of our fellow country men died on the battle field fighting to give the future generations (us) the freedoms they never had. They didn't just fight one revolution, they fought two revolutions, the second one being the war of 1812, when our future national anthem was written. They created a constitution that was to keep the government in check, and to help keep us a free people. Not all our founding fathers was on board with the creation this particular constitution. Thomas Jefferson characterized the delegates as an assembly of "demi-gods", and Patrick Henry ("give me liberty of give me death")refused to attend the convention because he "smelt a rat in Philadelphia, tending toward the monarchy". But after it all, Thomas Jefferson supported it and we at last had a law of the land. When I came to this realization, I became more curious our history up to the civil war, and found many videos relating to it. I have posted 5 videos below that everyone should see, two of them being more educational. They will give you a renewed strength, and more dedication to take back the country that once belonged to free and the brave. God Bless The United States of America.
