Did the Gary Johnson 2012 Republican website talk about racist newsletters?

I don't recall whether I saw this first hand or someone on this website had posted that. I have almost reached my decision on Gary Johnson and I have this stuck in my head, I can't remember. Please assist.

Yes They Did And Was Witnessed By Many

This article was on Gary Johnsons official 2012 campaign website.

The Pragmatic Libertarian

As we pleaded for the longest time what was done?It was put it on his facebook page complete with the word racist that was a hyperlink to this "newsletter expose" on Ron Paul. http://www.tnr.com/article/politics/angry-white-man

How soon you people forget.

And that was after Ron Paul endorsed Gary in 2011 before Ron entered the race. Gary has never apologized for this to my knowledge and I think it really hurt Ron that he would stoop that low to try to make himself appear a better candidate than Ron and providing links to the famed "racist newsletters" on his campaign website.

And that I surmise is why Jesse Benton stated unequivocally that Ron will not endorse him.

If you're not trolling, you did a great job of acting like one

...by linking "Gary Johnson" and "raaaaaaaacist newsletter" in the same Google result.

Viewed retroactively, they were insensitive and horribly politically incorrect but weren't much different than other views making the rounds in conservatives circles just after the L.A. Riots.

Stop repeating the raaaaaaaaacism meme. You're doing our enemies work for them. (If you are the enemy, of course you already know that.)

If you care about either Ron Paul or Gary Johnson you'll revise the title of your post. If you don't revise it, I guess then I'll know which side you're on.

Look at it this way.

If you are basing your decision on supporting a candidate solely on newletters that were disavowed by Ron Paul and are now a non-issue, then your premise is very weak.

What exactly is it that attracts you to Ron Paul?

What exactly is it that attracts you to Gary Johnson?

List exactly the reasons. Be brutally honest. Write exactly what YOU know, and what YOU experienced.

I don't have a premise and am

I don't have a premise and am not looking to sway people away from GJ by asking a question.

I'm writing an essay/making a video about his pros/cons. It's quite difficult making my way through all the Gary Johnson BS n this site. So far my conclusion is most of the negatives I have read are not true. The most factual negative thing I can find is him saying Gitmo may be necessary.

The reason I ask about his comments on the newsletters are he cane out with a video saying he is a "Ron Paul Revolutionary" a few days ago. You can't bash someone and ride thier coat tails in the information age.

The reasons I support or don't support Gary Johnson will be in my video. I would say essay but the way you questioned me condescendingly about something you could check my profile and other posts about leads me to believe you wouldn't read it.

I don't owe you any explanation why I support Ron Paul.

you are seriously, as a Ron Paul supporter, planning to put

those newsletters in a video? Everyone knows Ron isn't racist and it is the beltway libertarian types at reason who made those an issue 24 hours before the NH primary in 2008 because people thought the beltway libertarians should know Ron's character. They do, but some jealous of his profile are willing to smear it dishonestly, implying racism for lack of centralized management when they know he ALWAYS fought racism from way before that time and never bought into the 'court social conservatives with red meat' meme some libertarian types did buy into. Ron is not a red meat kind of guy.

But as a Ron Paul supporter who already wrote in Ron Paul in California before I knew he was a certified write in candidate here, I don't want those newsletters without an actual explanation, including video of Ron denouncing racism in drug laws contemporaneous with the time the few bad ones were written.

It is your video, but if you love RON you won't just drop a casual mention in there, imho.

P.S. but yes, it was on GJ's website and even when they took the text down they left the link to the article which completely smeared Ron up. That pissed me off, too.

But my problems with GJ have to do with his lack of principled center and complete disregard for sovereignty which if you want local representation so individuals can actually impact and defend their own right to make policy, you need. He was for NAFTA and is much more 'pragmatic' (in my view not centered by principle) and swayable, therefore, in my private opinion, to special interests. I am not sure how you address that in a video, but it is your video.

Fair enough.

I'll be careful with what I say next time. Thanks for your work!

And which divide and conquer angle are you representing?

I believe what it was, was

I believe what it was, was the official campaign website took a couple paragraphs out of an article that mentioned the newsletters, but that particular paragraph didn't make it onto the website.

So there was nothing negative

Thank you. So the quote was about something else and there was nothing negative toward Ron or his message?

How lucky for you!

But still, what would've happened if there WAS some mention of newsletters on the Gary Johnson 2012 website, or other negative things written about Ron Paul or his message?

Why do you not trust in Gary Johnson the same way that you trust in Ron Paul?

I believe in the freedom to be what we choose to be.

I won't trust GJ same as Ron

I won't trust GJ same as Ron Paul until he has a couple dozen years of voting records to back it up. Right now I'm doing research to see if I trust him at all. Thank you.

It was on GJs website including the offensive language for a day

with mega protests from us as you can imagine. Then the text quote was deleted but the link to the article with a recommendation to read it was still up. I don't think THAT ever was taken down at least until he dropped out of the primary.

I need

to do some more research, but so far, I dont trust him.
