Daily Show Exclusive: Michael Steele on RNC Treatment of Ron Paul - "Height of Rudeness and Stupidity"

"What the Republican National Committee did to Ron Paul was the height of rudeness and stupidity for this reason: Why would you alienate an individual who has the ability to attract a new generation of voters, who are already skeptical of your institution but are willing to at least listen through the vehicle of this individual and the words that he is saying? Why would you alienate them, get on the floor and not let them speak? Not have his name go up on the board and see the number of electoral votes that he receives? This is crazy! ... They are afraid of that which they cannot control."

- Michael Steele, Former RNC Chairman

Exclusive - Michael Steele Extended Interview Pt. 2 | 08/30/2012
In this exclusive, unedited interview, MSNBC's Michael Steele explains why the Republican National Committee's treatment of Ron Paul is the height of rudeness and stupidity. Thanks for the link, bytejockey:

Shorter version of segment. Thanks for the vid link, Swifty.
Noteworthy Comments:

fiodax: I stopped Mr Steele while in Tampa this week. We talked for about 10 minutes and he seemed genuinely interested. As I told our story about the Oklahoma delegation his assistant actually began to cry. I'm glad to see that he is speaking out about it. Good for him!

paul-for-liberty: Let Michael know he's got our support... We may not agree with all of Michael's views, but ANYONE who goes against the mainstream and threatens his or her reputation on BEHALF of our liberty movement, NEEDS TO BE THANKED and shown support, to encourage similar behavior out of them in the future.

Whoah, Nellie! This is snake oil. he is the salesman.

When we showed up at our State Convention, we knew the old chairman had to go. We did not really know the "establishment" Republicans, so we took the word of the faction that was friendly to us and helped them get their guy seated.
The guy we seated was a personal friend of Mr. Steele, and he is the reason I think their MIGHT be shape shifting lizard people.... I think I saw him turn half snake once.... at the RNC....
I can't find the clip, but I am pretty sure it was Michael Steele who just dismissed a stellar 2008 debate by Ron Paul as "That's it, he's finished" while the supporters scored it an RP win (dismissed as spamming the channel.)
You folks really need to be careful about supporting people who are blowing sunshine up our butt. Support the sunshine, but do not fall for the blowhard.

When Jon Stewart speaks, I'll

When Jon Stewart speaks, I'll listen, because he does his job well. For 2 mins worth Steele got some respect from me, but that's all he'll bloody well get. What the RNC did to us all is nothing short of appalling. They've just kissed every presidential election goodbye. Because they're not going to win without we the youth. The grand ol' party is full of aged people. The party won't last another two generations or so without us. But thanks to their lovely little stunt, they've just alienated the lot of us.

steele speaks the truth for a moment in his life and everyone here thinks he's a saint.

Steele is speaking to the Daily Show audience. What he says here is not what he says the rest of the day.

I was reading through his twitter feed. Its all RNC/Mitt Romney Cheerleading. Everything he said in this ONLINE ONLY (Not TV) clip... is nothing he would ever say to his party.

For those who can't watch on the Daily Show website

Here's the clip where Dr. Paul is discussed

Don't think for a moment that

Don't think for a moment that Michael Steele is a fair and honest person. I remember it very well when he was being interviewed by hannity and Colmes, after a Faux News debate. Both Steele and hannity sneered and scoffed at every mention of Ron Paul. I cannot remember what his comments were in regards to Dr. Paul, but I do remember that his comments regarding Ron Paul, were as negative and as nasty as you could get. They (steele and hannity) are a good pair…meaning evil and corrupt.

Larry in North Carolina
The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men and women to not support Ron Paul!

He then basically said Paul

He then basically said Paul said stupid things (in exchange with Guliani) and hence he is done (implying that he may not even be invited in future debates and nobody will take him seriously).

It was right after 2007 May debate and I remember it well as it was the first time I heard Ron which ultimately proved to be the beginning of me studying him more, libertarianism, Austrian school, sound money, capitalism, socialism etc. He literally changed my life by changing my economic/political philosophy.

Priebus always looked like a weasel

Steele was treated very unfairly during his leadership time. He was (is) much, much, much better than the dweeb Priebus

do you remember those ads

do you remember those ads where the dogs ppl owned look just like the Owners? From tall thin women with grey hounds to portly guys with bull dogs...Very funny. Now you know what pet Priebus has.

If my need to be RIGHT is greater than my desire for TRUTH, then I will not recognize it when it arrives ~ Libertybelle

Michael Steele

has no integrity what so ever. Just another politician targeting their speech for the audience they are in front of. I hope the DPers aren't falling for this facade. Remember the "Taxes are voluntary" comment with the snickering while acknowledging that a bullet in the head by government is voluntary:

Go to hell Mr. Steele. You are no gentleman, sir.

The most powerful Law of Nature is Time. It is finite and we all will run out of it. Use this Law to your advantage, for it offers you infinite possibilities...

There are many opportunists that have claimed the RP

mantle. Steele is not one of them.

If only...

... he had made this much sense when he WAS Chairman.

Steele just

Upped my opinion of him. He showed some integrity right there. Despite some grievences that I have with him, on both political issues and the fact that he replaced Pat Buchanan on MSNBC(I know it was not his fault) I agree that we can give him a thank you for this.

Michael Steele wasn't belligerent toward Ron Paul

therefore they had to remove him. He wasn't playing the game they wanted. That's the only reason that makes sense to why he was removed. All the other reasons are fluff.

He also liked

Sarah Palin...Teaparty, grassroots.

Steele won the Congress for his party and he got fired

I predict Priebus will lose the Senate and the presidency and he'll get re-hired!

Reince Priebus is not worthy enough

to smell Michael Steel's farts.

GOP suicide

The Republican Party Commits Suicide

The new rules of the RNC, properly denounced by former RNC Chair Michael Steele, are those of a politburo of ensconced oligarchs with a vision of liberty and democracy akin to that of North Korea. Nice job alienating your margin of victory, GOP, and cutting off your nose to spite the majority of voters who want less government rather than the same or more. How can we not ascribe to a conspiracy of totalitarian neocon insanity running our foreign policy when Obama, Bush and now Romney are indistinguishable in their treatment of the American people's desires and rights? All have signed onto push-the-envelope expansion, removal of limitations, and abuse of every power ever imagined by avowed lifelong megalomaniacs, do-gooders and mass murderers. (I know, redundant).

Perhaps they dream of placing the youth and young adults of this nation into physical harnesses to make them plow Monsanto fields and dig Halliburton pipelines, or perhaps pile them into FEMA camps and large buildings (like the NSA Obamanation growing in the Utah desert) and relieve them of their current fantasies of fairness, justice and liberty available through playing the game by the rules.

We cannot assume these self-serving power-krakens will not come after every single American who opposes their ascension to absolute power, as well as anyone who smarts off or videos while they bust other people's heads.. If that does not ignite your self-preservation instincts and sharpen your mind, nothing will. Get ready to fight for your right to party, as well as all the rest of them.

Gary Johnson is our best chance to stop the Machine. Gary should immediately announce he will appoint Ron Paul to Secretary of the Treasury AND Chairman of the Fed, if elected. Think it through, and do the right thing for liberty, for justice, for the America we all know could be, without the coercive state running and ruining our lives.

Here's a thought exercise. Using an estimate of how many potential new 18-yr-old voters there are out there who would be willing to register to vote if they thought it mattered, subtract a couple of weeks of time to get registered in the various states with the current deadlines (we are talking about teenagers), and come up with a number of unattached, non-lifelong-anything political newbies who might vote for anyone if they understood the stakes, and the message. Add them to the Ron Paul R3volution, but subtract a representative percentage of lightweight Ron Paul fans who will let disagreement on the abortion issue obscure the abyss between someone who wants to enslave you as opposed to someone who will free you, and thus will vote for Romney. I'll bet it's a dangerous number indeed when compared to the likely turnout of average Republican voters. Place that number in the third party column and see what. There's plenty of time for these numbers to adjust to the reality of being threatened by a filthy, lying authoritarian police state no matter which major party wins.
