Should Gary Johnson step aside for Ron Paul?

It's clear to anyone who has listened to Gary Johnson speak that Gary Johnson is a huge fan of Ron Paul.
Would it not be better in the interest of Gary Johnson and our country for Gary Johnson to step down
as the Libertarian Party's Nominee for President and accept instead the Libertarian Party's nomination for Vice President, thereby making room for Ron Paul on the top of the ticket.

Let's make it happen.

Ron Paul 2012 - It's Almost Here!

Ain't gonna happen

But you should take the straw poll anyway: http://strawpoll.me/2969

The same thing would happen to his votes as happened in the primaries. They would be stolen by the oligarchy and given to their chosen one.

The only argument in favour of it would be the visibility it would give to the message but he has already done that and it can be amplified by the grassroots even more by supporting Constitutional liberty candidates for other races for Congress and State legislatures.

Ron Paul has said he hates politics and that he is energised for what lies ahead. In other words he will pursue the teaching path he has always preferred and in which he is much more effective. He is a very creative man and he will find a way to spread the message he loves.

In the meantime there are now thousands of Ron Pauls around the country getting involved in the major parties at every level to influence the direction of politics in the future. That is where time energy and money should be spent if one's chosen path is politics. There are other paths also.

"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)

You make the assumption

that Ron Paul ever intended to run 3rd party. I don't think he did, he just didn't like the thought of being called a liar so he never firmly said he wouldn't run 3rd party. Besides, Gary Johnson isn't running because of us, he has his own supporters and if we pressured him to leave, he wouldn't.

Pie in the sky dreams - a nice thought, though.

I think it's time to focus on the long haul and that's the liberty movement. And trying to win a lost cause isn't going to help out. We've already promoted Dr. Paul as much as possible.

If Ron wants it but he doesn't. He wants to retire. He's pushing 80. come on, he deserves a rest.

Keepin' it real.

No necessarily...

but I'm not voting for Gary Johnson.

No because people are responsible for the consequences of ttheir own decisions. Ron Paul chose not to take the third party route and his not being on the ballot in the general electiion is ultimately a consequence of that decision. Gary Johnson and Ron Paul both knew that the GOP treats non-conformists unjustly. They chose different strategies to deal with that problem. The strategy that Gary Johnson chose has resulted in his being on the ballot in all 50 states (although the GOP is trying to sabotage that). To choose somebody else the Libertarians would have to re-convene their convention and we don't have time for that. We need to use this time to transfer as much of Ron Paul's liberty movement over to supporting Gary Johnson as possible and to build name recognition and support for him so that he can get into the debates.

That would solve my November "problem"!!! Because, I do not believe I will be voting GJ or BO or MR.

After witnessing the SHOCKING

After witnessing the RNC's SHOCKING sham of a convention, the time is probably ripe for Gary to step aside for Ron's leadership of the Libertarian party for 2012. Personally, I think Gary's stature would be increased by graciously humbling himself into accepting the VP. With this country in chaos after watching the horror of the RNC and enduring Obama's administration over the past 4 years, Ron's supporters of nearly 6 YEARS deserve one last attempt over a period of 2 MONTHS via a 3rd party. Gary, make the call. Ron, accept the call. America, accept your responsibility for once and vote for the constitutionally CORRECT, neither right nor left, candidate.

I don't think Dr.Paul will attemtp to run again.

He has a good in regardless though.. He could easily say they cheated or some variation of that and go 3rd party but I don't think he would because of the positions we control in the RNC.

Besides.. I don't think for a second that Gary would step aside.
