Karen Kwiatkowski: What I Saw at the Convention

What I Saw at the Convention

by Karen Kwiatkowski | September 1, 2012 (Published Aug. 31, 2012)

I spent a day of my life at the 2012 Republican Convention. The plan was to stay for full four days, but the choreographed and staged "decision-making" made the 2,000 plus delegates irrelevant. Republican Party members hoping to see democracy in action were left staring at a fuzzy gray screen, listening to static, beating their heads against padded white walls. No free man would subject himself to such idiocy. As Doug Wead so delightfully put it, the party has been reduced to "ten fat men sitting in a room."

One of these fat men is John Sununu. Watching him on Tuesday afternoon steamroll the wishes of half of the delegate floor, and destroy what was left of the integrity of the GOP, I was strongly reminded of Nurse Ratched running the floor at the Salem State Hospital. In One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Ratched dominates her fiefdom sternly, with her contempt for her charges oozing with her every smirk, and every command. This evil queen saw criminality in a raised eyebrow, revolution in a meek request for equality. Punishment for dissenters would be quick, overwhelming, and comprehensive. John Sununu’s totalitarianism was on display, and his goal seemed obvious: the literal and figurative lobotomy of the constitutional and liberty movement within the party.

As with the Salem State Hospital, the world of the RNC convention, the world of ten fat men, their sycophants and enablers, is a small place, removed from natural law, and removed from the reality of America. This is the real blessing – we can and are walking away. Millions of us are literally and figuratively walking away from the kabuki theater of neoconservative statism posing as a popular problem solving. We can do this!

I was a State Delegate

I could barely afford being a state delegate and had no ability to raise the funds needed to go to Tampa. If I had and been cheated like those who went were I would be suing for a total refund.

Great find, AnCapMercenary!

Nurse Rached, indeed!

And Karen, if you're reading this, Thank You! Don't stop. Don't ever stop! We will support you!

Fabulous Artice

Thank you so much for this article, for your service and your integrity.

I too feel the same way about neo-con Ben Ginsberg.

To be truthful, Reince Priebus and Boehner looked half looped and Jon Stewart thought the same in his intervew with Former Chair steel.

This tid bit is actually in wikipedia about Boehner:

A September 2010 New York Times story said Boehner as "Tightly Bound to Lobbyists" and "He maintains especially tight ties with a circle of lobbyists and former aides representing some of the nation’s biggest businesses, including Goldman Sachs, Google, Citigroup, R.J. Reynolds, MillerCoors and UPS.".

His connection with Goldman Sachs says it all as far as the way Boehner blocked Ron Paul and allowed te ayes to have it!

And please consider running for office. I think you would have a lot of support!

Great writing!

Karen! In enjoyed reading your post. I was there 3 days too long.... I guess I am a glutton for punishment. However, I don't feel defeated. I'm even more atune to the corruption and have a lot of fight left in me. I'm going to keep doing the do.

I have to be honest it was a hard pill to swallow watching everything people worked and fought so hard for just be tossed to the curb in one fail swoop. If they have the power and are willing to do that to a few, they are willing and able to do it to all.

I have a fellow Female Marine (RP supporter) Who kept telling me in passive conversations we would have about GOV and Ron Paul in general, that we live in a plutarchy. Even though I debated the fact with her that we lived in a Constitutional Republic and people would embrace liberty above all else. She would just grin and say "you'll see, just wait".

Well, she is right. Never really thought about plutocracy and oligarchy governing styles. Plutocracy-rule by wealthy/Oligarchy-rule by a few, or a small group. If you Roll them together you have a Plutarchy. She's a young Native American gal. Which leaves me feeling hopeful, if she is awake like this the future looks bright.

I don't really know how to tame the Monster GOV we have. I do feel that if it isn't put in it's place relatively soon America as we know it will fall and cease to exist. Not meant to sound apocalyptic, I just see it for what it is now, rather than what I wanted it to be.

I'd really hate to see this movement die off. There has to be another way... Just like the the old adage goes, if there's a will, there's way.

She sent me this article. Long Read but interesting to say the least.

Yes! Walk away . . . . .

"The lack of passion in the speeches, and the restrained

audience response to them, indicated that they knew that none of them really owned the message. That’s how democratic centralism works." Yes, Karen, that lack of passion could be seen throughout the speeches, except for the couple that had nothing to do with politics or business, i.e., the testimonials about Romney's friendship. Of all the talks that covered issues, only Clint Eastwood's sounded... REAL. And the crowd RESPONDED to that! (Of course, it probably helped that some of what he said reflected not Romney's but Ron Paul''s beliefs.) Think that's maybe part of why crowds go crazy over Ron Paul? Not just his message, but the fact that he's REAL.

Nice article. I hope people read the whole thing and not just the above intro. (Maybe you might want to add "..." to the end so people realize there's more.)

It is better to have gone...

...and to discover the truth than to never have gone and felt like you were part at fault for not being involved. Thank you!

Yea, and they over reached by quite a bit. Enough that it will come back to bite them.

(this reminds me of the manager at my work, she isnt quite as blatent or bad, but feels threatened when anyone aside from her tells people to do stuff)

Excellent post Karen.

I can only imagine how dishearted you and the other delegates must have felt. It was painful to be watching and reading about it from home, but I am sure being there and enduring it was heart wrenching after all of the delegates blood, sweat, money and many tears.

Thank you for doing what you did and thank you for writing and posting your experience.

Karen is amazing!

I'm thankful to all who participated in the 2012 election cycle, and will continue to do so, be they in or outside the political paradigm, infowars, agorism, etc.

if nothing else, at least our R3VOL delegates made public the type of shenanigans WRONGneyites have been pulling at local state convention levels, for the entire world to see, before MSM's own cameras: even if that woke up 10% of their viewership as to just how fraudulent 'our' current political system is where rubber meets the road, it still would've been worth it.

Dr. Paul woke up millions of minds, and r3VOL shall continue to do so carrying on the torch, regardless of whatever the outcome is, this November and beyond.
