FEC Deadlines & Possible 3rd Party Run

To everyone hoping and praying that Ron might announce a 3rd party or independent run... as much as I would love that too, I doubt it's happening. Why you ask? It's because there are deadlines.

And here are those deadline:

Now is it possible for the Libertarian party (or another 3rd party) to have Gary Johnson step aside for Dr. Paul... I don't know what the rules are on that. Some states have sore loser laws, so even if Dr. Paul did switch to another party, he would be ineligible to be on the ballot because he lost in a primary election.

UPDATE: 9/3/2012 1:00 AM

Thanks to the input of others, only Michigan (maybe 1 or 2 other) states have Sore Loser Laws that apply to presidential elections so far as I can tell.

Yes, an Independent run is 100% out of the question because of FEC deadlines.

It looks like the most likely scenario would be that Dr. Paul replaces Gary Johnson on the Libertarian Ticket. I'm all for that!

Well the modern Libertarian Party...

What Justin Raimondo calls the beltway libertarian because of their appetite for bigger government, more wars and more regulations to promote Federal Reserve members.

They don't like Ron Paul, Lew Rockwell, Murray Rothbard or Mises.

I don't see much hope that way, either.

If Ron does go third party, I

If Ron does go third party, I don't see him competing against Gary. I see Gary as more of a "sit-in" candidate that the Libertarians nominated, so when the time came, they would allow Ron to be on the ticket with Gary, maybe Ron/Gary.

If Ron were to go independent per se, and chooses Gary for Veep, it would've had to be some sort of undercover parallel campaign which the grassroots would've done ala Perot 92 level.

Should Ron go third party, the most likely chance is him being on the Libertarian ticket, more than likely as the Presidential choice, since the LP would visualize the benefit of having Ron on top of the ticket due to his popularity and cross-appeal to all voters, and the Libertarians can easily see this, especially after the corruption led by Romney and the Neocons at the convention, as the chance, finally, to become a major competitor and try to be something like the Liberal Democrats are in the UK, in other words, at least a two and a half party system.

If Gary Johnson and the Libertarian Party support Ron Paul

can't they still put Ron Paul in as there candidate

I'm not sure

That would be great, but I can't find any information on the matter. I suspect that it's within the power of each party to make changes so maybe it's a possibility. But as far as I can tell, an independent run is not possible at this time because of FEC deadlines.

You would be right if we were

You would be right if we were talking about an Indy run, since most deadlines have past.

However, sore loser laws do not apply for president. We are voting for electors, not for the actual person. Except for Michigan, where Johnson is already on the ballot and less than 4 other states.

The scenario being promoted is Ron would replace Johnson as the LP nominee. Nothing in the info you provided bars that from happening.

I agree.

Independent run deadline passed in California, Texas, New York, Ohio and Florida.

Anything

Is possible.
Maybe he will announce the republican liberty party And a democratic liberty party.

true but your headline is deceptive

EDIT: but not NEARLY as deceptive as the "paul: GOP is not my party" thread.

Sorry

I didn't mean for it to come off like that. I see now how it was misleading as if Dr. Paul had said it himself or something like that. I just wanted people to know the post was about Ron and a third party run. Thanks for pointing out that it was misleading. I changed the headline but it doesn't matter now b/c no one else is gonna see the post. LOL

RON PAUL AIN'T GONNA RUN THIRD PARTY

Because Ron Paul ain't got the guts.what needs to happen is first, tell the Ron Paul campaign that if they ain't running third party, then give all that remaining campaign cash we gave him to the Gary Johnson Campaign. Then the whole mass of Ron Paul supporters that now ain't got anybody to support, need to get on Johnsons band wagon, and make a statement.if you want to have a chance to get a Ron Paul type candidate elect that's what you need to do.
1.when Johnson was running as a Republican,he was asked who he would select as his vice presidential running mate if he got the nomination,he said RON PAUL.
2.once he knew he had no chance to get the republican nomination,he had the sense, and the courage to go to the libertarian party.
Gov. Jesse Ventura Told all Paul supporters to vote for Gary Johnson, and make a statement.Ron Paul is gone,Gary Johnson is the only choice we have left.if we get on his band wagon and help him,he just might choose Dr. Paul as his running mate.i join Jesse Ventura in encourageing all Paul supporters to do for Gary Johnson what we did for Dr. Paul.

Some see things as they are and say why,but i dream things that never were and say why not. Robert F. Kennedy

Not Very Classy

to be begging for money for the Gary Johnson Campaign the way you're doing. I am open to Gary Johnson but this kind of spam you and other GJ supporters are doing on Daily Paul is a real turn off. I hope you all start to change your spamming tactics because it's doing more harm than good.
