What Do You Call A Boomerang That Doesn't Come Back When You Throw It?Submitted by chris cudnoski on Sun, 09/02/2012 - 19:56
It's Philosophy Fun Time!
What do you call a boomerang that doesn't return to you when you throw it?
Let us meditate on this wisdom.
By now I'm sure you've figured out that all of the world's accumulated wisdom can be boiled down and summarized into this seemingly childish riddle.
If you don't get the connection, maybe 2 more examples will clarify:
Q. What do you call a banana that doesn't come back to you when you throw it?
A: A banana.
Q. What do you call a conservative who is in favor of higher taxes, deficit spending, and preemptive wars?
A. Definitely not a conservative.
The point of all this is that a thing is what it is, and it is not what it is not. A=A. It is what it is and it ain't what it ain't. A boomerang that doesn't come back is not a boomerang. A conservative who isn't conservative isn't a conservative.
Check your premises.
