Johnson and LP could give the nodSubmitted by fyi2day on Mon, 09/03/2012 - 03:40
If it is their true interest to offer Ron Paul the top spot, Johnson and LP should take first steps to demonstrate approval.
It would equate that if Johnson is 100% behind this idea of Paul replacing him, that he must make a formal statement offering his spot on the LP ticket with consent of his party, et cetera, et cetera...
A combined LP leadership and Johnson statement would be even better as time is of the essence and to affect a smooth launch of a fresh campaign.
I listened to Evan's entire conference call and the consensus seems to be, stay in the GOP and work to get Paul on the LP ticket for 2012 as they continue the work of taking over the GOP at all levels over the longer term.
This seems reasonable as the Paul brand would surely eclipse the Johnson/Gray ticket results for the LP with the strong Paul/Johnson replacement.
Some concerns were raised about newly successful liberty appointees and candidates in the GOP being caused some potential blow back from party line supporters that may see Paul's defection as a reflection on them as supporters during his GOP run. It was posed that Paul's actions may be attributed to these GOP liberty lovers and interpreted as an affront to Partyliner's idea of strict party loyalty.
Hopefully this will not be the case and become an opportunity for our new Liberty reps., to exercise their political acumen and use it as a teachable moment for the liberty movement. Using this opportunity to affect their colleagues and potential constituents within the GOP rank and file positively to be accepted on their own merits regardless of Paul's actions and, as they should be by people of reasonable nature.
I have personally looked at these questions and will support this effort of Evan's to explore this option for a continued Paul campaign and further spread of the message beyond the GOP walls.
I have added my name to the list of supporters of Ron Paul at http://www.ronpaul2012.net/
I have also posted two posts that link to each other here that may help some of you with a bit of history and a few definitions not always clearly communicated as we reconcile our roles in the revolution and in the GOP with changing events.
I hope these pages and supporting links are helpful to you.
