U.S. Tells Iran It Will Not Join An Israeli Attack
Submitted by P.Au.L on Mon, 09/03/2012 - 13:17[Times of Israel] - The United States has no intention of joining in a preemptive Israeli strike on Iran and expects the Islamic Republic to refrain from attacking US targets in the case of such an attack, senior Washington officials told their Iranian counterparts, according to a report in Yedioth Ahronoth on Monday.
In recent days, senior administration officials reportedly sent messages to Iran, through diplomats from two European states, addressing the possibility that Israel would launch a unilateral strike and establishing that the US expects Iran to not draw it into a conflict by firing on American army bases and aircraft carriers in the Persian Gulf.
Monday’s report came amid widespread debate over the level of coordination between Israel and the US on halting Iran’s nuclear program, which — despite assurances by US Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro on Sunday that the relationship is as good as ever — appeared to be strained.

Another potential turn around
Another potential turn around of this is for Obama to simply end up aiding Israel anyways, and just saying 'Well things are different now', as is the same excuse repeated by his predecessors in office.

This makes me sad
I interpret this to mean that Israel is about to do something extreme (maybe nuclear bombs?). Many innocents will die. The US is pre-empting this by stating that they are not involved. But clearly, for them to even say this, it means that they've already been briefed on it. I suspect they've even helped plan it. But they don't want to get their hands dirty, because Obama ran as anti-war, and the Dems still want to get enough Dem voters out to vote to put Obama over the top against Romney. Ridiculous. Thankfully, this time on Earth is temporary, and God will judge them all in due time.

Here’s the scenario: We tell Iran we will not participate in an Israeli attack against her. OK fair enough, however when Israel attacks Iran and Iran retaliates we (the US) are obligated, by treaty, to come to the aid of Israel. This is nothing but political double talk, snowballs in January!

Same thing I thought - except I would expect this to happen about a month before election day - it would be the prefect little bump for Obummer - he talked peace until we got punched THEN he fought back. Classic spaghetti western plot.

The US would support Israel in virtually anything they do. The least of our involvement will be funneling money, weapons and other resources to Israel. More than likely the US will get involved when Iran attacks some point of interest that it could pretend to give a damn about.
