You're ALL Right! Keep On Posting!

The current phase of the r3VOLution, the one led by Dr. Ron Paul, is over. It is moving into a new phase, and I'd like to describe what that is. First, though, many of us on DP have posted our views of how we should direct all our talent:

  • Some have said we should all join the Libertarian Party and vote Gary Johnson.
  • Some have said we should all stay Republicans and vote Gary Johnson this time.
  • Some have said we should become Independent, divorce from politics and just work in our families/communities.
  • Some have said we should bring everyone into the GOP and strengthen our grassroots effort, maybe with the Tea Party, to win more influence and eventually take over.
  • Some have said that we are in an abusive relationship with the GOP, and the only way to end it is to walk away.
  • Some have said that the PTB want us to walk away, so they can keep making things worse, and for that reason we shouldn't back down.
  • Some have said that we should try to find one standard-bearer to rally around, and try to elevate the Judge, Rand, Amash, or someone else to the leader position.
  • Some have said we should just support all Liberty messengers and fill spots with Liberty people from the bottom-up so we have lots of Liberty candidates in 4 years.
  • Some of us are all about Johnson, some are all about Molyneux, some are all about Woods, some are all about Kokesh, some are all about Schiff, some are all about Rand.
  • Most of us are all about Ron Paul.

In my opinion: You're all right!

In fact, there's no right or wrong here. There's just liberty. The message of liberty means that none of us is forcing anyone else to do anything. So, as long as we're all educating the people in the cause of liberty...

  • If you want to work outside the system to bring it down, like Gandhi and MLKjr, more power to you!
  • If you want to work inside the system to bring it down, like Mandela and Dr. Paul, more power to you!
  • If you want to use alternative media and the Web to build a 3rd party image, more power to you!
  • If you want to just teach your family and neighbors through non-agression, more power to you!
  • If you want to wait a while and see what happens before making up your mind, more power to you!

Whatever you do:

  • You must realize that your way is not the only way. Our individuality makes us useful in many ways.
  • Don't feel like you can't advocate your position to get more people involved in your effort.
  • Be understanding if it's not your prospect's cup of tea and help direct them to another Liberty effort.

Personally, I want to walk Ron Paul's footsteps for a while, so I'll be active in the GOP as so many are, and do my best to expose the hypocrisy and corruption, while trying to elevate discussions to incorporate reason, rights and responsibility.

Why is it ok for us to have such a "fractured" movement?

Well, here's my wild prediction for the future:

Somewhere between an economic collapse, WWIII and the democratization of knowledge through alternative media, I think that our liberty warriors will take over the GOP sometime in the next 8 years. The disenfranchised neoconservatives will then form a new Republican party. In the ensuing mess, our Liberty GOP will call for a permanent coalition of Libertarian, Constitution, Green and other third parties, along with disaffected Republicans, Democrats and Independents, with a simple one-page platform that is simply pro-liberty, leaving out any differences between the messages of the separate parties while emphasizing simply an end to crony capitalism and government abuse while promoting individual choice and state sovereignty.

My forecasting model (my brain) breaks down at that point because it could either be civil war or utopia. Who knows and who really cares? All that matters is that we all live in the present, be prepared, and that none of us are overly obsessed with getting everyone on our side. If I'm even remotely right, the independence of America and Americans depends on us having liberty people in every party (except the named socialist ones - yuck :P) and outside of the party, just being positive influences every day.

To sum up, as long as you believe in liberty and you make any effort to spread it, you are doing great! Be involved, and if you are already, be more involved! Try to span gaps, become a fusion influence, study philosophy and stay positive!

If you think I'm right, thanks, and comment anyway.

If you think I'm wrong, pat yourself on the back because you are probably proving my point, and please comment.

Well if he says "No" then what's the special announcement?

That he saved tons of money on his car insurance.

Good one!

JonForRon...........THAT was funny, thanks for the laugh!
I read that he didn't say he would announce something. Anyone know of the link where he said he was?

It was either that or I stayed at holiday inn express last night.

Good one!

Sorry But

We do not have the luxury of 2-4 more years. If it doesn't work this time we have to arm ourselves don't you see the government is buying ammunition, fema supplies, coffins and arming the police with paramilitary equipment. Obama and Romney are preparing for Martial Law. Are You? (The time for negotiations is almost over.)

Now you could argue we should be on tv but ...
Here is Ron Paul being touted on Radio!

Some say that which ever group

(liberty-minded vs totalitarian-minded) has the most children- who are privately educated of course- wins.

While some say to stay in the

While some say to stay in the GOP, the comments elsewhere on DP show that the GOP is radioactive for Libertarians and Constitutionalists for the forseeable future. Romney's putsch not only did for RP at the RNC, but you will probably see a witch-hunt extending back into the local GOPs, as we see Maine and Minnesota reporting. As I mentioned below, if you all stay in the GOP, it only makes it easier to corral you, and control you.
It is four years to the next election, and the only obvious choice is to make like a herd of cats.
Vote Gary Johnson up, if the GOP don't get him off the ticket. Vote in local liberty candidates for congress and senate, or even in your town. Stay in the GOP if you can. Get into the Democrats. Go and get jobs that put you in positions like Ben Swann. Go to college and study politics, economics, IT, etc.

I found this comment from Chris Hedges on the CNN site, earlier:
"You do not fight tyrants because you are going to win. You fight tyrants because they are tyrants."

Remember, as America goes, so goes the world.

I agree. I have different

I agree. I have different strategies for how I'm going to spread the message, but it's good for people to try different ways to see what is most effective. As long as we are all trying to spread the message then I think all ideas should be welcome.

Couldn't agree more with the

Couldn't agree more with the OP. Everybody do what they think is best, keeping in mind that the end goal is liberty.

For me it's honing my rap and prostelytzing in as many places and formats as I can find.

It's funny you would print this now~~

I was just thinking how traffic to the website, no doubt, will take a nosedive pretty soon.

The way I see it

Ron Paul wants to fade into the sunset, as well he should and deserves to enjoy his retirement...

So, he directed the movement to begin taking over the Republican Party, and at the state level there has been some progress in that direction.

That's it. We can fracture as a group and go our separate ways, or continue on the path that RP set out last year, to build up the Libertarian wing within the Republican party.

I don't see any other path ahead.

Let's remain united in our COMMON beliefs which are many, rather than our disparate beliefs which are few.

Because you bet your bottom dollar ROmney & the RNC establishment want to see us fracture and disappear.

Winning Office at Local Level GOP

How good will that do this country and for how long? The Maine State Convention is on the verge of being declared void, which puts all the establishment clowns back in their seats that they LEGALLY LOST IN A FAIR ELECTION PROCESS. As if thats not the most asburd, WWE storyline of the topic, there are NO LEGAL CONSEQUENCES for this burglary of the voting process. Its insane. How far up the chain is this fight possible? We seen what happend in Arizona, Oklahoma, etc. Unless rule changes are implented to prevent the early convening of conventions and similar events with dire consequences, its almost impossible to win these elections fairly, let alone any other way. Why not grassroot within the confines of a fair election process in an alternative party?

We're good

As long as we all stay in contact, let people be passionate about whatever they want to do, and we'll reflect a positive image to the GOP.

Bottom-Up, not Top-Down

Admittedly, a standard bearer like Ron Paul is invaluable at rallying the Revolution, but the future of freedom will take a bottom-up course, with libertarian leaders cropping up across the country to reclaim liberty at every level of government. For that reason, we cannot be too fixated with appointing a successor to Paul, and should focus more on doing more in our own communities. Paul did his duty; are we doing ours? Let the Revolution be one of many leaders and few followers.

Although the Judge would be a fantastic voice for the Revolution.

What Now? Forget POTUS, Get RP Congressional Candidates Elected!

For the next two months, more should be focused on maximizing that RP initiatives & momentum continues to grow in Congress via RP endorsed candidates.

After researching & identifying some truly RP Constitution based Congressional candidates, seriously committed to carrying on RP agenda, some are very long shots, while some others have a surprisingly realistic shot at being elected, and then carrying RP agenda forward when they get to Congress.

No investment of our time/money/energy, right now, for the next two months, better assures more Constitutionalists actually becoming elected into the next Congress, to continue pressing RP's agenda forward, than to support some of those that have the best chance of actually winning.

Here's an example of just one, who has a real shot; Dr. Art Robinson www.artforcongress.com/ron-paul who is running very close race against DeFazio in Oregon.

There's others equally qualified & electable, too, deserving of all our support. Add them here.

Whatever you've done in supporting RP has helped to awaken others, now it's time we all re-focused and directed that energy & momentum, at least for the next two months, onto actually getting more outspoken Constitutionalists elected into Congress in November.

Vote for whoever you want for POTUS, send a message, etc., but work towards actually getting some for-real Constitutionalists elected to stand up for our freedoms & liberty in Congress, like RP would!

Yes, it's a stand off.

No one point of view is allowed to prevail on DP which is much better than the wrong point of view prevailing. The battle of ideas still has to be fought in order to reach the truce. We will agree to disagree. The reason why a lot of us argue is we don't approve of the consensus that is being formed, it's not that we think we can suddenly convert everyone to our viewpoint. Usually the best we can hope to achieve is balance.

We need to find/start a

We need to find/start a different party. Pick our 2016 candidate NOW, and start grassroots campaigning immediately. By the time the "real"(fake) campaign starts people will fully hate the Ds and Rs and will want something different.

Respect each other

Great post! We are all attempting to achieve very similar goals here, and we should respect each other's opinions on how to attain it.

With liberty and justice for all...who can afford it.

I Posted a Similar Version of This on Another DP Thread

We may never find another Dr. Paul in our lifetimes--how could we? He's a product of a particular time in our history, a product of the type of family who raised him. All those factors equal our Ron Paul. Be glad you stumbled across him.

We feel deflated right now but I had to marvel at a co-worker who unexpectedly attended the 8/26 rally and came away totally awakened and ready to get involved despite the fate of the campaign. He's counting on that kind of energy to continue his work.

It's time to let he, Carol and their granddaughter park the plane and relax at home before he has to head back to Congress before retiring. He DOES need a rest, but we certainly haven't seen the last of him. I imagine that he'll speak on behalf of other Liberty candidates, speak at forums etc. to continue educating. He'll have our back, so to speak but we do have to follow his lead and carry on.

We still have Judge

We still have Judge Napalitano and Ben Swan is looking more and more promising everyday.

Sweet crap!

I made the top of the front page! Thanks mods :) I think some people have thought twice about contradicting my post. No need to. Everyone should feel free to post what they want! I do my best to understand and appreciate every vantage point.

Hopefully, when like-minded individuals take over every party and develop strong networks outside of politics, we can all pull the plug on the system together! Follow your heart, people.

Thanks again.

Thank you paceme; timely and good OP

This is a volatile time and passions are running high. It's the diverse nature of the Liberty movement squared by the forces aligned against us. I look forward to the day when the GOP is replaced by a ZAP == Zero Aggression Party.

... what do you mean the one led by doctor paul is over

he is retiring from politics, not the movement.. you didn't hear him going into a hide out up in the mountains somewhere. what the heck

I upvoted

your comment because you are right in the way you interpreted it. However, I just meant that he no longer will be leading in a public, official capacity. We don't have any indication yet that he'll be at the head of anything, though he'll probably write for C4L again. Of course, I don't want to seem him fully retire, ever, because the r3VOLution has just started. I always figured that after this election he'd become a guru, someone all the potential liberty candidates would suck up to. I hope he's more than that, but he is almost 80.

That said, I'm having trouble thinking of ways to reword it to satisfy your thought.

Let me just say here: Ron Paul 2016!

In order for us to succeed...

in addition to all the ways listed I contend that one particular thing needs to be done by each of us. That is to follow Ron Paul's advise to "STUDY."

No doubt he means to read and read. Not just his own books! He also has mentioned the Austrian School of economics again and again. Did you know that all of the works of Ludwig von Mises and Murray Rothbard and other members of the Austrian free market school of economics are available for free online at the Ludwig von Mises Institute website

In addition to Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand which Ron Paul has recommended I would suggest her The Objectivist Newsletter 1962-1965 which is filled with thought provoking articles and book reviews and The Intellectual AMmunition Department.

No Man's need constitutes an obligation on the part of another man to fulfill that need.

Democrats to Libertarians

I managed to turn a few of my "Democrats or no one" family members into Gary Johnson supporters, because of his pro choice/pro gay marraige stance. We, as Paul lovers, may not agree with Johnson on those issues, or others, but it is those issues that I managed to push my family in the right direction. Moving them for liberal Democrats to libertarians is better for all of us. ;) This is my liberty deed of the day, and more to come. :)

I'm first and foremost for

I'm first and foremost for Ron Paul, but I'm realistic and know from all of the hints and direct messages that he doesn't want to run third party... especially after his "swan song" speech at the We Are the Future Rally.

I've had vinyl covering my entire car for Ron Paul's sake and if any of you live in CT and drive on I-91 or Rt 9... you've probably seen me driving the speed limit in the right lane so more people end up seeing the car as they pass. So I'm pretty sure we can throw away the "Gary Johnson Fanboy" crap right now all of the haters like to throw around.

But now Ron Paul can't run, the LP and even RP's people say that it would make a presidential run as 3rd party more difficult than it already is with the Johnson ticket. Paul may still never endorse anyone and I understand why. He doesn't want to risk ostracizing his son from the party we're trying to takeover. Think about it, Ron Paul was ostracized from the Tea Party that he's considered the "godfather" of. The same reason many running for delegate seats left out the fact they were supporting Paul in their speeches.

An undercover cop doesn't get into a gang that he wants to take down acting like or telling them all he's a cop.

Considering that possibility... him saying that he doesn't trust Romney and him saying himself that Gary Johnson is doing a good job and is worth us taking a look at him... that's good enough for me of an endorsement. Difference being... I looked at him myself and saw he was a better candidate than Obamney. I didn't hold him to the unobtainable standards of Ron Paul and say he wasn't good enough or he wasn't libertarian enough. Most of us will probably never see another Ron Paul in our lifetime.

The unifying strategy that helps the movement AND our takeover of the GOP, the priorities that Paul himself promotes, is by using a strategy with our votes just as caucus goers did for our delegates at district and state conventions.

The GOP cheated us because they believed the theory that they didn't need us to win. The way to make sure they don't cheat us again is by destroying that theory.

If they can theorize that votes for Romney or Obama are party loyalists, that stay at home protesters are simply part of the lacking voter participation, and that write-in numbers that don't even count in many states aren't threatening at all... then how can that threaten them and destroy the theory they don't need us?

Whether you believe Gary Johnson is a true libertarian or not (he's pretty close and has a much better libertarian minded executive record as governor in New Mexico than both Obama and Romney combined)... the strategy is to vote for him because our numbers being documented accurately in one place is the ONLY way to destroy the GOP's theory that allowed them to cheat us.

We get two things from this. The upper hand in 2016 where the GOP now can't deny they can't risk cheating us and may even promote a libertarian candidate seeing as it would guarantee them a win (party loyalists + independents + ron paul republicans + disenfranchised dems). And then also waking up millions more in 2012 to the fact that both Romney and Obama are the exact same in the WORST ways. That their vote for either one only slightly changes the speed at which we go down the same broken path. We wake up millions regarding their own libertarianism when Johnson is on the national debate stage in contrast to two faces of the same coin.

The only people that are against this strategy are LINOs... the real people that are sabotaging our potential when we get enough of that from the RNC and mainstream media.

Simply saying "we need to unify" doesn't change the fact that LINOs are here and are hurting the movement.

I'd rather have Paul as president, but I'm sure as hell going to choose Johnson to vote my conscious than vote my fear of either other candidate with the "lesser of two evils" rhetoric both parties rely on...

...especially when we get so much out of the strategy now and in the future for the GOP takeover and movement overall's sake.
