Rachel Maddow on the RNC - 9/3/12 - Why no mention of the wars? Does Romney want to go to war with Russia?

Video: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#48889789

Notable moments:

3:30 - McCain contradicts Paul Ryan's new comments regarding withdrawal from Afghanistan

4:28 - Maddow discusses Romney's subtle threats to Russia during his RNC speech

5:50 - Maddow notes that Romney never mentioned Afghanistan or the troops that are dieing there

7:40 - Maddow begins massaging Obama's ego with his position on Afghanistan

9:13 - Obama tries to draw a distinction between him and Romney with Respect to Afghanistan - where there is none (as we know now from Ryan's recent comments)

10:03 - Maddow begins talking about Ron Paul and Jon Huntsman on foreign policy

10:34 - Maddow: "Mitt Romney is no Jon Huntsman. He's no Ron Paul. [Romney] is afraid to say the word 'Afghanistan'..."

11:18 - Maddow: "This election will fail us as a nation as a means of having a robust debate about a war we are still waging while more than two-thirds of Americans do not want us to be fighting it... The pressure on this issue - the pressure on the policy makers if there is going to be any - will have to come from the People... Because it seems we care about this as a country even if some of the people who say that they want to lead us do not care about it."

Rachel is always eager to criticize and sneer

at the "Republicans", but fails to see the same problems on the "Democrat" side. Where has SHE BEEN during these last four years if she cares so much about the "war" issue? I'll bet Justing Raimondo would have LOVED her help on the air spreading an anti-war message.

When Bush was president Rachel's SCATHING pieces on loss of civil liberties, the horrors and waste of the wars, and her exposes on torture were classics. She and Keith Olberman with his passionate spitting commentary on the outrageous overstepping of Bush just warmed my heart.

Once Obama took over their "principles" gave way to wishy washy silence. So NOW that Romney is taking on the Bush team and pushing for THEIR wars again, suddenly Rachel has re-discovered her "conscience."

I've had many disappointments over the past few years, but one of the biggest was Rachel Maddow's lack of character, her political drooling over Obama and her self-induced amnesia on all of the promises that Obama broke - most especially - restoring civil liberties, ending the wars, and the torture programs.

Sad Rachel..... really sad. "Why no mention of the wars?"... we could ask you the same thing for the past 4 years.
