Kurt Bills Campaign Predicts Ron Paul to Endorse Gary Johnson

Received this e-mail response from Sherald Ward on behalf of Senator Kurt Bills after the 3rd or 4th time I responded to campaign emails complaining about his endorsement of Romney.

Hi Matt,

I was never interested in politics until 2007, when I found out who Ron Paul was.  I was blown away to discover that there was actually a politician that I happen to agree with almost 100% of the time.  I volunteered and contributed heavily to his campaign in 2008.  I stayed involved with Campaign for Liberty between elections, and helped all I could in contributing to Rand Paul's campaign.  In 2011, I was hired to be the Assistant State Director for the Ron Paul campaign here in Minnesota.  I am proud of what we were able to accomplish here, and I am proud that we sent more Ron Paul supporter delegates to the RNC than any other state.

Kurt Bills told the entire MN Republican state convention that he would be supporting whoever the nominee was.  Knowing this, Ron Paul supporters threw their support behind Kurt Bills to put him over the top for the endorsement.  A few days before the official nomination took place, Kurt went ahead and endorsed the presumed nominee.  Ron Paul was personally asked the weekend before last if he is still supporting Kurt Bills even though he had just endorsed Romney.  Ron Paul's answer?

"Of course, and you should too.  Rand needs all the help he can get in the Senate."

I've read some of your angry e-mails, and I've been so busy trying to help Kurt Bills take the message of liberty to the U.S. Senate that I have not responded, but I chose to today.

Abandoning support for a pro-liberty candidate based on his POTUS endorsement (that he told you months ago he would be giving) who could make a major difference in the U.S. Senate when it comes to wars of aggression and our loss of liberty is not taking the moral high ground.  I respect each person's choice of whom they want to support and vote for, but I don't think it's fair to act as if sitting on your hands and watching a pro-liberty candidate lose just because of a POTUS endorsement is "doing the right thing".  What's right for each person is different.

I've read all of Ron Paul's books, and a central theme of his is that we have to stop behaving as if he is going to be able to carry on this entire movement himself and support our local and statewide liberty candidates when we have the chance.  Do we have to agree all of the time on everything?  No, but if we don't hang together, we'll surely hang separately.

The Romney endorsement puts a bad taste in my mouth as well, but I understand that it does not automatically mean that Kurt is no longer pro-liberty.  If he was actually shifting where he stands on issue positions, that would be completely different.  I'd be gone in a heartbeat.  That's not the case.  Kurt still opposes wars of aggression, our loss of freedom under NDAA, Patriot Act, SOPA, PIPA, CISPA, the war on drugs, the federal dept of education, the EPA, and the list goes on.  If the POTUS endorsement helps him carry the message of freedom to the floor of the U.S. Senate, then I can deal with it.

I expect Ron Paul will announce tonight that he is supporting Gary Johnson.  I could be wrong.  I am looking forward to seeing him on Jay Leno.

Ron Paul will most likely return to Minnesota between now and November to campaign for Kurt Bills.

You're free to make up your own mind.  I respect how you feel, even if we disagree.

Dear fellow Republicans,

With just 63 days until the election, we need to do everything we can do help elect Kurt Bills in November. Can you help us make calls? The Phone Bank is open every Monday through Saturday, but we’ve got some special phoning events set up each week:

Taco Tuesdays – Come to the campaign office, make some calls and have a taco or two.

Saturday Night Is Student Night – The perception is that students are liberal and love President Obama and Amy Klobuchar’s policies. Let’s show them otherwise! Young Minnesotans are concerned about their futures and here is an opportunity to make a difference. Bring a friend!

Phone Bank hours are Monday through Saturday from noon to 9:00pm. Any time you can spend at the phone bank is appreciated and does make a difference. Contact Rory at rory@kurtbills.com or 651-243-2230 for more information on calling or to sign up for any time slot.

Together, we all can help take ECON101 to Washington!

WRONG. Could be many things,

WRONG. Could be many things, but a Johnson endorsement is not one of them.
