IMPORTANT Corporate personhood for RP and our partySubmitted by akerlin2 on Tue, 09/04/2012 - 19:22
Please read the whole idea before you scoff and close this thread. You might think it impossible at first, but nothing I have found makes it impossible.
Let's draft a charter, and start a corporation.
Let's make that charter declare everything political we would do if elected, and let's nominate this "person" for president.
Then, the charter will serve as a legally binding promise (contract) to the people from a "politician" - no room for lies and deception.
I believe this is possible because according to 1 USC § 1, which states: "In determining the meaning of any Act of Congress, unless the context indicates otherwise... the words “person” and “whoever” include corporations, companies, associations, firms, partnerships, societies, and joint stock companies, as well as individuals"
Basically, have Ron Paul be the CEO or head of this corporation, and have him claim that he will do what he says, because he is bound by his charter, and can only act in accordance with it.
Essentially the idea is to bring accountability to politics. To be able to say "here is what I will do, and I am legally bound to do it." I imagine such a thing might become very popular if it were to ever happen.
The key is clearly defined actions. If there is little to no room for interpretation, there cannot be any deception. I believe this type of accountability appeals to every honest voter.
For example: "As commander-in-chief, the Ron Paul Corporation will have all military personnel and equipment removed from, and sell or abandon all military bases within Afghanistan by February 2013."
There can be no dishonesty here, and it would be legally binding.
It makes my heart warm to think of the honesty we could have.
There's certainly much more thought that needs to go into this, but what do you think?
