Virgil Goode?

So what do you guys think about Virgil Goode, the candidate running on the constitution party ticket? I hear a lot of talk about Gary Johnson being the default choice (libertarian is such a nice term after all) but after the Bob Barr incident I am wondering about their integrity over there. I think it's safe to assume that TPTB have covered all bases so ....

If you support Ron Paul

You must vote whatever way beats Romney.
If you live in a solid state vote Johnson(like me)or Goode.

If you're in a very close swing state like Ohio, hold your nose and vote Obama.

The goal here is to make Romney lose.
Do you want the GOP to continue putting up neocons for president?
If Not they must lose whenever they put one up for election.
THAT is how you take over the GOP.

Virgil Goode is Pro-Life

I am leaning toward Virgil Goode over Gary Johnson because Virgil Goode has a strong pro-life record and Gary Johnson supports Roe vs Wade.

I am also concerned that the Liberty Party has been co-opted as discussed here: http://www.dailypaul.com/257075/does-anyone-know-more-about-... and this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Y1egV2Q2FE&feature=youtu.be

Additionally Ron Paul said that we should keep the fruit of our labor, Gary Johnson supports a 23% fair tax.

I realize Virgil Goode has issues as well, but because he understands the value of unborn human life, the most vulnerable in our society, he will most likely get my vote.

I really wish I could write in Ron Paul here in Missouri.

Virgil Goode is the Bob Barr of the Constitution Party

People in his own party are not thrilled about him. Most people in the Constitution Party are very anti-war, like Chuck Baldwin was, but Virgil Goode, while he has adjusted his positions since his time in Congress still has a poor voting record on foreign policy and still doesn't regret his support for the Iraq War.

Based solely on his rhetoric, he actually seems pretty decent though. But unless your two biggest issues are pro-life and immigration, Gary Johnson tends to be better on almost everything else.

Regardless, even if Goode is your first choice, just keep in mind that he won't be on the ballot in California and Texas, and does not have a mathematical possibility of winning enough electoral votes to become President, whereas Gary Johnson should be on all 50 state ballots.

I will never disparage anyone from supporting Goode though if you cannot in good conscience vote for Gary Johnson. I voted for Goode for Congress back in 2008 when I lived in Virginia. He was still preferable to the Democratic challenger, but there was no third party option at the time. Just vote your conscience, as long as you take away votes from the two major parties, its a victory.

liberty lover in Nor Cal!

not in enough states

Johnson will be on ballot in all 50
not the constitution party.

Virgil Goode

seems like he is a Santorum kind of politician. Pretty close to the same views. Look at this yourself.

It's time! Rand Paul 2016!

He seems good on a lot of policy issues

He seems good on a lot of policy issues, but my goodness I can't stand to hear the man talk. It's novel at first and becomes downright maddening over time. That said, he seems like a good man who means well.

That's funny

That's funny. As a Dixian I love Goode's speech. Johnson's Yankee voice make me ill :D

Virgil Goode may be safer than Johnson

I've been looking at Goode myself now that I am getting a little suspicious of GJohnson.

It worries me that early on he offered to step aside and now he wont even offer VP. I know there are ballot deadlines, but that isnt what he said when the DP guy ask him about it, he said "I already have my VP". I think, he thinks he will get out vote anyway so he doesnt have to pretend anymore. In fact, he was probably a decoy to get Dr Paul to run 3rd party early so Mittens wouldnt have to "do the dirty deeds at the convention"

I know we need to get ballot access for a third party, but if we did wouldnt they just change the rules again, 30 minutes after when had met the rules?

Goode's platform, I agree it except for the Term Limits on Congressman part, and I could live with that.

I will check more into Goode, before I blindly support turncoat JOhnson.

We can hash it out on DP and make a unified vote later.
Lets talk about it!

Pretty sure Johnson would have leapt at the idea of RP as VP

if he had wanted it.

i voted for Chuck Baldwin last time.

I really like Chuck Baldwin.

Virgil Goode not so much. I wont be
voting for Virgil Goode.

Not sure how I'll vote in 2012,

but voted for Chuck in 2008.
