Farewell Ron Paul ...thanks for the ride!

Ron Paul,

About 5 years ago I was walking down a dirt road in a dense fog. I was not the only one. There were so many of us lost and wandering down this road but we took comfort in being together in the same predicament. We would pass familiar signs and landmarks keeping us moving forward and reenforcing our way on the right path.

We were all too afraid to leave the road not knowing exactly what might be out there. I recall other saying if we veered or took a different path we would be sure to starve, freeze or worse.

As I was walking along the shoulder of this road something caught my attention down in a ravine. It was dim light flickering through the fog. I was comfortable up on the road but something inside me poked at my curiosity. A small group of fellows along the roadside were beckoning me to head down the ravine. They were the outcasts that we were told of...We just had it engrained in our heads that these people were fringe and crazy. But something happened to me. something called me. So when no one was looking I stepped off the road into the brush. It was the biggest moment of my life.

Little did I know that first step was off a steep grade of rocks, mud, thorns, thicket and tree branches. I must have slid a quarter of a mile or so tearing up my arms, legs and hitting my head. Up above on the road I could hear insults of how stupid I was, how I was a kook and then laughter. I tried to climb back up but realized it was useless.

Once at the bottom of this ravine I found you. You were holding a lantern on the edge of a dock where a raft was waiting with a few others that left the road. I was confused and in disbelief. You reached out and grabbed me, and helped me on the way to the raft. You showed me how the road I was following was a vicious circle full of deceit. You explained the best paths to take to break the cycle and forge a new path.

We set out over the body of water into the blackness. There were all sorts of creepy things along the way. Rough water, snakes, wind and hail. You never changed course. You stood firm and pointed this vessel to a point of light that was getting brighter and brighter as we approached.

Ahead was a beautiful sunrise penetrating the fog and trees. Once we made landfall we stepped off into a green meadow with spring buds and fresh aquifers running over the smooth rocks sparkling in the sunlight.

Over the course of the next 5 years, I made this trip back and forth with you. I stood upon the road and beckoned others. Each day you stepped onto that raft to head over to the dirt road to rescue more. Day in , day out, you were tireless.

Today I woke up to join you on the raft when I realized you were not coming. You had taken your last trip. As I pushed off to head into the blackness like we always have it hit me. This is what you wanted from us all along. We are now the raftsmen in the sea of despair. We are multiplying and rescuing more and more people. More than any one man could do. You have created an army of enlighten men and women.

You deserve to stay on shore. You did your part. I must say I am a bit sad to see you stay. I don't know how I can ever repay you. You have changed my life forever and the seed you planted will grow in my children and children's children for many years to come.

Salute Ron Paul!
The rEVOLution lives inside all of us and we are only getting stronger.

is the title of this thread, "Farewell Ron Paul... thanks for the ride?"

As if Ron Paul will stop writing books, speaking to college campuses and educating himself and others.

The real revolution is only just beginning. This "ride" is not over as long as any man walks this Earth.

Joη's picture

it's almost as if you're misinterpreting it!

"You underestimate the character of man." | "So be off now, and set about it." | Up for a game?

I understand....

that it's an allegory. It's beautiful.

The point I am trying to make is that while Ron Paul has inspired many to take up the cause of Liberty, he's not going anywhere.

He's not staying ashore. He may decide to live a more private life, but even so, he'll do far more good educating and writing in retirement or wherever his path may be.

Joη's picture

nvm me then

sounded like you were saying something else.

"You underestimate the character of man." | "So be off now, and set about it." | Up for a game?

If anyone ever deserved a break

It would be Dr Paul.

Ignore the trolls further down the post.

We know what we need to do, we need to work on the Audit the Fed bill in the senate right now.

You know what to do people. Bombard the ignorant senate, focus on the ones going up for election this year.

Cantwell and Murray will be hearing from me and the other liberty fighters in King county WA.

Thank you Bozhi

It doesn't take a 5 year veteran RP campaigner like myself to "get it" but, it helps.

Anyone who posts negative on Ron Paul or his followers is obviously clueless.

Participate in America's future- Research Ron Paul- Truth will Prevail! You too, will be proud one day, to be able to say: "I was a Ron Paul supporter."

Greetings Bozhi - From a WA-State Ron Paul delegate.

As we got screwed by the WA State RNC so did the National RP Delegates.

Good luck trying to change anything here. For a while there I thought we were genuine Ron Paul country.

But our own party stabbed us straight in the back.

Can't blame the democrats for that.

I won't give one rotted republican on my ballot the satisfaction of my vote after their corruption.

If there is an R after your name, you have as much chance of getting my vote as if there is a D after your name.

Two parties - Different name - Each like the other - Both the same.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

Ditto from WA. They aren't

Ditto from WA. They aren't going to be rewarded for what they did.. We are going to take their jobs and get our own people in there.. and that includes so called "libertarian friendly Republican" Toby Nixon. He didn't stand up against the party with us, so he's got to go.

Last Hurrah?

In my travels over the years, there obviously been a moral regression within the body of community and society.

RP has correctly noted the remnant. While these men and women represent the righteous goodness of the country, the daunting task of competing with conventional wisdom seems desperate.

Yet, with the increases in pains has come increased knowledge. The viewing of those tremndous bailouts involving incomprehensible sums has taught millions that it is not what you know but who you know on an unprecedented level along with the unimagineable transfer of wealth. Was the RP dynamic/factor the last hurrah? Only time will tell but the scope and understanding of the new realities has gained irreversible traction.

I think

Ya'll are lunatics. I love the movement but we lost. What makes you idiots think we have a future? It's over... Obama will crush America. Your kids don't have a future

Yes, I think you should leave

4 month troll.

That really hurt my feelings. Since I am not signed up to your pathetic forum, I'm a troll. Why don't you get lost? What did you do? Stay home and watch you tube videos? You can't say the same for me. I was a delegate and I was out in Tampa. I was being disrespected by the Republicans. I even helped Ron Paul personally, so don't come to me telling me I am troll. I just think your lost. And we need a reality check. Obama wins & he destroys America. Where we do we come in? Seriously.... The voting system is rigged & you actually think we can change the future. People are brainwashed and lots of them. We should have thought of this yen years ago. It is too late. Face it.. I'll always fight for my liberty and freedom. I'll never stop. I'll die before I give up. I get it.... But we lost and Evil is going up not down. What makes you think we change anything? The whole country is indoctrinated in thinking we are nothing but a bunch of lunatics that were wrong at the end. Just really think about it. I cried when we lost in Tampa. It'll get much worse from here

you might be right

this might be the end of the road for the U.S. but this is not the end of humanity. The idea of liberty transcends the United States of America. Our constitution was doomed from the start, our founders simply did not have the understanding required to maintain a truly free society and the proof is in the federalist debates. I believe that Madison truly wanted to limit the powers of the general government, but he was naive to believe that the government would continue to limit its own power through checks and balances. It was obvious to Patrick Henry and the other anti federalists that the federal government would centralize until the state governments were nothing but tradition. We have 230 years of knowledge that our founders did not have in combination with access to every single significant document of scholarship written since our nation's founding and it's right at our finger tips.

That is where we come in, our understanding of liberty is the single most crucial asset in the prospect of human prosperity. Tyranny always fails, so too will the despotism which we now endure, and then people will reach toward liberty. We will win. People will find their way back to peace and freedom.

chains no more brother

yt = classicalliberalism

Patriotic Senex

Actually I voted you up LibertyOr Death...

Lots of people don't like the reality of our situation.

But it's most likely the truth you spoke.

I would disagree with you about the idiots comments. In fact, about the only ones who AREN'T idiots are DailyPaulers and other Ron Paul supporters.

I think we all cried a little after Tampa.

It's just a shame when supposed like-minded thinkers stab your back.

I've said all along, Ron Paul's biggest hurdle on his road to the presidency is HIS OWN PARTY ITSELF.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

Damn! - I almost teared up reading this.

Which means it was really well-written.

Lots of truthful analogies in your post.

After discovering this great man of truth I'll never be the same. Dr. Paul simply made me a better person.

But I'm feeling a little alienated right now, having learned so much the last five years.

I realize how few people I have anything left in common with anymore - at least politically.

And armed with all my new-found knowledge, now it's so much easier to be affected by events about which before I was too ignorant to have known any better.

So knowledge and awakening is somewhat of a double-edge sword. Hence the old phrase; "Ignorance is bliss."

And though I'd never want to undo anything I've learned, it's just harder to ignore things and get on with life since I now know the consequences of what they are getting away with - and how they directly affect each of our very lives.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

well said

thank you!

Excellent work!

Excellent work! Thank you.

I believe Ron Paul is one of

I believe Ron Paul is one of the few congressmen of whom our founders would approve.

I didn't cry

Goes to show who's still in and who's out.

Being out, you got a lot to cry about.

Being in, you got a lot of work to do.

Ode to the raft

I love the friends I've gathered on this thin raft. We've constructed pyramids in honor of our escaping.

Well done Dex....

I haven't cried in years.

Great read to cap the nite, Dex. Thank You for Sharing...

This might have brought a little tear to my eye

I think of this journey we're on as similar to Plato's "Allegory of the Cave," but your story is a great alternative!

The Lord of the Rings--Lighting of the Beacons
(sorry, I use this one a lot)

Yup, it was May 15, 2007 for many of us that the journey began. On Tuesday August 28, in Tampa, some were privileged to cast a vote for RP as national delegates. I was among them. From here we press on. RP has called up the remnant and we owe him our fullest effort in the days to come.

Dr. Mike Vasovski
South Carolina Campaign Chairman, Ron Paul 2012
The SINGLE vote in the SC delegation for RP, GOP Convention, Tampa, FL
2010 Candidate, US Congress SC-03
Past Chairman, Aiken, SC County Tea Party

I love your sub-bio

The SINGLE vote.. what an honor to say!

They that give up liberty for security deserve neither.

May God Bless Him

And may the spirit of liberty which he was endowed with never be quenched.
