The Ron Paul picture is gone...

I know that the Daily Paul is moving past focusing on Ron Paul's 2012 campaign, but did the Ron Paul picture on the right of the DP really have to get taken down? After all, our movement and this website IS still inspired by the good doctor even if it's no longer mainly about getting him elected. And that's all the picture said: "The Daily Paul is inspired by Ron Paul". Now there is nothing about him, not even a smaller picture. Does anyone else feel the same way?

Thank you Josh

I believe you summed it up well.

"But they are less responsible for the current division on here, than the recently registered Libertarian Party types that feel they have to preach the gospel of Gary Johnson and convert every last soul that says "No, thank you"."

This bit especially! The OBVIOUS trolling taking place, trying to swing support over too, What I beleive to be another puppet candidate, coupled with the what seems to be attacks on people who want to continue to see Ron Paul as the LEADER and INSPIRIATION, of all of this, is very disheartening and quite sad if you ask me, This IS and always has been a "Ron Paul" site.

Some people have been banned promoting Ron Paul, and speaking their minds on issues, while others are seemed to be let run rampant.

I am continuesly attacked at the moment for "deifying Ron Paul" when that is so far from the truth it hurts. I dont deify ANYONE, but I do see Ron Paul as one of the most Intellegent, the MOST Honest and Integral people I have ever come across. I will always look to Ron Paul for guidence and for understanding of Liberty.

Some People see that as deifying, and attack me, I see it as looking up to a great man who is inspirational, I explain that, they still attack.

The photo was simply the latest smack in the face, the problem being, we felt like it was done to us in our own home.

I love tha Daily Paul and dont know how I would have gone without it, I just really do not like what I am seeing at Ron Pauls number 1 site.

No Problem

Glad, I was able to voice others concerns, while voicing my own.

Thank you for the reply

I'm not trying to make waves here either, but the "Ron Paul for Governor 2014" thread that I was talking about is here, and it has 50 upvotes:

http://www.dailypaul.com/253625/the-real-play-is-governor-pa...

On the removal of the Ron Paul picture, you are right that people should not idolize other human beings, but I think there is nothing wrong with being inspired by great men and aspiring to follow in their footsteps.

On this I agree completely.

The picture never came across as idolatry, the "inspired by" caption laid out clearly what it was intended for.

During the presidential campaign, I agree, it did not come across as idolatry. It was the primary link to his presidential campaign website. It was not an ad per se, and I didn't get paid to have it there.

But they are less responsible for the current division on here, than the recently registered Libertarian Party types that feel they have to preach the gospel of Gary Johnson and convert every last soul that say's "No, thank you".

Please keep in mind that his is all part of the journey, and in some ways this could be thought of as our karma. Ron Paul supporters did the exact same thingacross the internet that they perceive the Johnson supporters are doing now. This is what earned us nicknames like 'Paulbots' and 'Paultards.'

To non-RP supporters, it was annoying, yet the RP spammers who were doing it couldn't see anything wrong with it! LOL. I guess one never understands anything completely until one sees both sides of the issue. (Not accusing you of being a Paulbot, btw.)

But the Johnson supporters do pose an interesting challenge to Liberty. We kept them off quite effectively during Dr. Paul's presidential campaign. But now? Ron Paul isn't running any more. What should we do - shut them out completely? Again, in a free society, you can talk about what you want, and that is what I would like to promote here.

It is not that I don't see your point, but it is a real dilemma.

Thank you for your understanding, and your compliment on the site. I hope that it continues to be a valued resource by the community where people continue to come to learn and grow.

I went to the Ron Paul for Governor 2014 thread but it doesn't

bother me. I just see people throwing around ideas and some of them are interesting, though I don't personally think Ron would run for governor. But I just think these things will work themselves out. Let people just get all this stuff out of their system. I'm sure soon enough, all this energy will be channelled into new liberty activities.

Debbie

Can you please rethink this

I don't think that's a correct assessment. This blog has been, since 2007, a 'Ron Paul' site, dedicated to Ron Paul's presidential run, albeit now it is becoming something totally different. Most of the other sites that disparaged us with demeaning monikers were not devoted to any one person's presidential run, but to either RINO/neocon causes and/or whoever the GOP scripted as the 'chosen one'. Your comparison is of apples and oranges and your explanation is not fair for those of us still devoted to Ron Paul and his call to take over the GOP because it doesn't address this fact at all. I've always been a Republican and now, steeped in the resolve to take back my party in whatever way I can, I'm not about to abandon Republicanism. I have a very narrow definition of a troll and it's one who intentionally disrupts a theme with something totally opposite. I know 'troll' has morphed into whatever someone doesn't want to hear, but that just someone reading something they don't want to hear and doesn't justify a 'troll' name. People coming to this site, when it was a Ron Paul site, and stumping for another candidate, would be considered a troll. Going to the generic so-called conservative sites to talk about Ron Paul when a thread was about the candidates that were vying for the WH, is not trolling, IMO. I think very few people went to Romney's site to cause trouble - and whoever did I would call a troll. Places like Redstate that made it clear that Paul supporters weren't allowed, to go there would be trolling. But to post about Ron Paul on say Freedom Outpost, that's not trolling. I hope you can see the difference and point I'm trying to make.

Exactly

I agree with you.

The Dilemma

I agree that we certainly should not censor anyone, or ban anyone.

But, I think a post from yourself or one of your moderators, reminding both sides to keep it civil, and to be respectful of others choices to vote for or not vote for Gary Johnson, would be helpful.

I don't see a problem with the promotion of Gary Johnson, I see the problems arising from a lack of respect for others choices to vote or not vote for him.

Thanks for responding to my concerns.

It was a nice picture

With so many ugly, mean, scowling, angry, sad pictures of Ron Paul projected by MSM, it was simply nice to see him smiling.

Thank you for that.

Ron Paul is NO God; However, he is a hero to those who he inspired to actually do something about our rapid loss of liberty.

Love, The Granger

Why are they treating us like the RNC?

There is a loud uproar over this and yet they steamroll right over.

Never thought I'd see these tactics here.

I guess this site has a bright future for legalizeliberty and 10 of his friends.

Fight the Ron Paul blackout on the Daily Paul (now 'P AU L'), put his removed poster back as your avatar:
http://www.mediafire.com/?9ir62bp8nshv83m

People were drawn here because it was called "The Daily Paul"

I know I was. When you add together: the peace, gold and love re-symbolising of the site name with the yank down of Ron Pauls Picture while doggedly refusing to give a reason why, and the surge of special treatment toward the Johnson supporters, you could come to the conclusion that Micheal might now be slapping his forehead thinking ......
"why oh why did I paint myself into a corner? Why couldn't I have named it Daily Liberty or something? How do I ease out from under this anvil of being forever attached to Ron Paul without anyone noticing? I know I'll just rip his picture down and pretend that the letters PAUL are about peace love and gold. Surely no one will notice!"

Why wouldn't he just make a new site called "Daily Liberty"? The ADS bro the ADS. See people come here because it's the "Daily Paul" but you change to a new url and the traffic will plummet. If the traffic plummets, then no revenue from adds or subscriptions. Dear me what a dilemma!

Leave me to fill in the blanks on my own and look what I come up with!

Is that it? That's their answer?

voteronpaul20124me's account has been disabled.

Is that it? That's their answer? Shut down an outspoken, highly enthusiastic supporter of returning the Ron Paul pic, on technical grounds, without even addressing the original issue that caused his posts? Without even discussing with us about having/not having Ron Paul's picture at the top?

You admins disgust me!

I believe in the freedom to be what we choose to be.

If you would join a website dedicated to the Revolution/Liberty movement that I would make that would actually show Ron Paul the respect he deserves.

That may be more divisive

That may be more divisive than is necessary. I'll frequent any liberty loving community, though.

Why even have the 'daily p.au.l' logo on here?

Why not just have nothing?

Dr. Ron Paul's picture needs

Dr. Ron Paul's picture needs to be on this site.

In fact, I'm a little shocked it was taken down. Why?

Ron Paul is the inspiration for this movement. He is why most of us are here. He is why most of us are involved in politics.

His image has become a symbol of the struggle for liberty. It needs to be here.

Please and thanks, Michael.

Its ok ,they are putting up a picture of Johnson

for you real libertarians. I've been told at least ten times that even Nystrom supports GJ. In fact, I'm waiting for Ron himself to endorse Johnson from what I've heard. You better just get Ron out of your mind and start thinking about Gary.

Real libertarians avoid the LP

and won't vote for their phoney candidates.

Diamond Dog's picture

Its ok

This site will always be a tribute to the good Doc, whether his picture is here or not.

Long live the Daily Paul!

The Diamond Dog is a real cool cat. | Reporting on the world from an altitude of 420.

This sorely needs to come

This sorely needs to come back. While we definitely need to stand for an idea and not a man, it is safe to say that Dr. Paul is the voice who inspired 90% of us here and we should recognize that.

Bump

Because it's still disrespectful to have removed it.

Bump (again!)

Let's Fight the Good Fight

RON PAUL

...the man is a legend. His pic with link should unequivocally be brought back. Jesus, this is getting ridiculous.

Let's Fight the Good Fight

Soo . . . .

. . .

Come to think of it...

I'd like a really nice framed picture of the Good Doctor for the living room of my home. I've been in several homes, especially older ones, that have at least one president hanging on their wall. I want the MAN that SHOULD HAVE BEEN PRESIDENT on the wall of my home.

Maybe I could put it close to the commemorative plate of Stonewall Jackson and General Lee.

Bump!
