2016 Presidential Candidates - List & Discussion
Submitted by OldWest on Thu, 09/06/2012 - 02:31I don't see any point in wasting time.
Candidate selections need to be made for options, and I'm going to personally pursue those individuals I feel fit for the job.
Please list your candidate options below. The vetting needs to begin now.
So far I've concluded to:
**********************************************
*** Oct 8th, 2012 - UPDATED PROSPECTS LIST***
**********************************************
(in no order of priority)
Virgil Goode
Jesse Ventura
Paul Richard LePage
Ben Swann
Ron Paul
Justin Amash
Rand Paul
Peter Schiff
Andrew "Judge" Napolitano
Tom Woods
Tom Davis
Jim Buchal (local running for AG of Oregon) Check him out: http://youtu.be/TOPLggcmv4U
Could there be any more Tom's?
In order to have an effective election cycle, all posts and positions must be vetted properly as well. A lot has been learned from 2012:
1.) A qualified candidate.
2.) A qualified campaign manager.
3.) Qualified researchers and experts on Liberty principles such as foreign policy, monetary policy, etc for assistance in promotional material.
4.) General historical analyst - Tom Woods.
5.) Presidential Historical analyst - Doug Wead.
6.) A crazy lawyer that is ultra experienced in political campaigns, but terribly disaffected to the GOP.
7.) Social networking, web and media experts that support the cause of Liberty.
BUT, and a big but, the "qualified candidate" should be sufficient in knowledge to hold their ground w/out any analysts or advisers for fact checking etc.

Why strikeout Rand?
Peter is too hyper so I understand his strikeout, he'd run circles around everyone and people wouldn't know what's going on lol. I'de still like to see Peter in the Senate though :-)
Real eyes realize real lies
2012, we want our country back
2012 is the year for Ron Paul!
Murray Rothbard's Ghost
So he can blister his ghostly thumb pushing the "Abolish The State" button and haunt Ben Bernanke and Paul Krugman in his spare time.
Check out the Laissez-Faire Journal at LFJournal.com
"The State is a gang of thieves writ large." - Murray Rothbard
Possibly Justin Amash and definetely
Ron Paul.
Then possibly Judge Napolitano and John Stossel.
1. Ron Paul or whoever he
1. Ron Paul or whoever he recommends.
2. Judge Andrew Napolitano
3. Maybe....Rand Paul
I'd support Rand, but only as a last option.
If he is the only liberty minded guy in 2016, I'd probably give him my vote and help with his campaign. He has, with one exception, voted very well.
I really don't like the way he is trying to "get along" with the GOP. His rhetoric is no different from any neocon. I really wish he would make some REAL speeches about the wars and civil liberties.
If he doesn't, he won't have much appeal to independents and dems in the general.
I really wish Tom Woods would run for Congress, but I think he is more into educating people (please prove me wrong Tom!).
We should see what kind of people are elected to Congress and as Govs during 2012 and 2014, and go from there. I would love to campaign for Tom Davis. He can fire up a crowd, and he isn't afraid to step on toes.
Top 3 for me
Governor of Maine - Paul Richard LePage
Judge Andrew Napolitano
Tom Davis - North Carolina
If Rand had been the nominee I would have voted for him
this time around (he's the only one I would have voted for except Ron Paul) Palin, Mittens..etc They are all Neo Cons.
We JUST need to make SURE Mitt Romney doesn't win the Presidency or forget it - we're done! Neo-Cons will JUST be emboldened by him winning and they WILL NEVER have to have a conservative/Constitutionalist on any ticket EVER again.
"Many of us agree that you and I have no right to use coercion against people who don't owe us anything. The same prohibition applies to groups of people who constitute the government. The reason is simple: unjust acts do not become just when legalized. "
Good luck on trying to
Good luck on trying to compete with a dictatorship, I'm out of here guys.
So you're going to side with the British?

I say we take a break for 2012/13
Then work very hard in 2012 getting liberty candidates elected to state legislatures and congress. It will be easier for us to outdo the local corrupt party apparatus with enough involvment.

Doug Wead says Ron Paul may run in 2016...

Name one vote Rand made,
Name one vote Rand made, other than endorsing the republican nominee, that you don't agree with?
I'm for Rand in 2016
Iran sanctions...
That's my beef with Rand. Well, that and that he is scared to take up for his father for fear of political repercussions.
However, Rand Paul is preferable to 99% of the politicians in Washington. Although if I lived in Kentucky and Rand came up against someone with better views on foreign policy, I would vote for the other guy (given that the challenger embraced other libertarian views as well).
You do realize that the
You do realize that the candidate you are promoting (Johnson) has left the door wide open for continuing sanctions against Iran. He has REFUSED to take them off the table.
Your objective here is the bash the Paul's and promote Johnson, we all know that, but you should at least know where your own candidate stands before you start talking about your "beef" with others.
It's actually comical.

Ron Paul 2012 - It's Almost Here!
While dwalters uses agressive tactics
in promoting GJ, he does not, by any means "bash the Pauls." While he is critical of Rand Paul (justifiably so), I have never once seen him say anything substantially critical of Ron Paul. Ron and Rand are two very different people. Can you get that through your head?
I'd like to hear his position
I'd like to hear his position on the sanctions. I do not agree with them; however, that may be the one vote I disagree with him on.
I love his work in the Senate. He has been amazing.
Here Is One Of His Explanations
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LzzBOVsIFk&feature=youtu.be
In another, to Luke Rudlowski (I can't seem to find it on youtube), he says he views sanctions a little differently from his father (that is, he does not view hem as an act of war).

My List
-Rand Paul
-Judge Andrew Napolitano
-I would even consider Sarah Palin (She's not dogmatic, so our agreements are more than our disagreements.)
Rand Paul 2016
Justin Amash 2024
“It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till." -J.R.R. Tolkien
So stupid
1. Can anyone name a more libertarian member of the Senate than Rand Paul? No they can't.
2. Mainstream republicans actually like Rand. He engages in 'politics', that's the way the world works. Get used to it! But judge him by HOW HE VOTES.
3. If you agree with someone ninty percent of the time......then that person is your friend, not your enemy. This is one reason why 3rd parties stay so small. Thinking back to the LP in years past, if you don't agree with them 100% then they call you a socialist.
3.Congressmen generally don't get elected to president. It's almost always men that have served as a governor or in the senate.
It's fine to give him a "Libertarian" title
but, he does not have the balls to stand up to the machine and did not call out the RNC at the convention and did not endorse his father.
I might just have more reason not to support him because of all the energy, money, time etc that I expended since 2008 pushing for his father.
He openly embraced Romney. I think that says enough.
Rand Paul. From a baseball playing family, Rand should be the first to know 3 strikes and you're out!
the facts...
We probably agree on most things political, but remember....there was no other elected republican at the convention that critcized america's militarism. In a crowd of mostly non-thinking republicans like that - it takes balls to stand up to the military industrial complex and Rand Paul was the only one who did it. And as far as the endoresment....of course he endorsed his father and campaigned heavily for him. Rand only endorsed Mittens AFTER Ron Paul acknowledged that he would not win the nomination. I don't think that Romney will be elected....but if he does, trust me, Rand Paul will absolutely be a thorn in his side and his harshest critic.

How bout NONE?! Save America billions per year and have no chief executive to treat like a Lord of Ten Thousand Years Who Sits on the Dragon Throne with an army of overpaid eunuchs in dark sun glasses granting his every earthly wish?
Let's pension off Obama with a title "President for Life" to some gated senior community outside Vegas where he can play golf for the rest of his days. Michelle can take along a couple of ladies in waiting.
And then fire the 40,000+ leeches in the Executive office and the Offie of Administration, and sell off the six or seven Airforce Ones.
Finally, who needs to waste billions of dollars on Presidential elections?

/I'll show myself out.
My shoes
Are locked, loaded, and ready to fire.
Name Recognition
My choices are Gary Johnson, Napolitano, and Rand.
Ben Swann has no political experience, but he has the right personality and looks of a politician.

This may come as a shock
But what do you call the male first lady? Gentleman, Sir? Call me crazy but I believe Michele Obama will be on the ballot in 2016. She would suck up the black and female vote. And her husband would still call the shots ala Chaney. If this were to happen we better think about a female opponent.
We need Tom Davis to
We need Tom Davis to challenge and DEFEAT Lindsey Graham in 14 in the U.S. Senate race in SC. Graham is a huge Neo-con, remember that clip on here a while back regarding the hellish NDAA Graham"If they ask to see a lawyer, tell them too bad!" Bye Bye 6th Amendment. We need a better Congress just as bad as the Presidency..
