Bill Clinton Summed It All Up..We're Lost!

Former President Bill Clinton:

"My fellow Americans, you have to decide what kind of country you want to live in. If you want a you’re on your own, winner take all society you should support the Republican ticket. If you want a country of shared opportunities and shared responsibilities – a “we’re all in it together” society, you should vote for Barack Obama and Joe Biden."

My Answer: I want to live in a country where I AM on my own; where opportunity is equal for every individual; where it is my responsibility to seize that opportunity; and where becoming a "winner" is dependent only on my free will. What party holds these values? I think I'm lost because neither the Dems or Repubs want this kind of country for their people. :/

I'm with you.

Just because you're on your own does not mean you can not be generous or find friends that are generous with their time, resources and concern.

Last thing I want is 7 billion big brothers.

Bill Clinton's True Talent was Sophistry

If you don't know that word, you should. Bill Clinton was the best sophist ever. (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sophism). His statement above is a classic fallacy known as the "false dichotomy." He lays out two mutually exclusive alternatives and says you must choose one or the other.
Well, I reject that. There is a third alternative: I opt for a "live on my own" but not "winner take all" system where we all share responsibilities and charity work because we really are "all in this together" and we should do what we can to help others. We can't really help anyone else until we take care of ourselves, can we? That's the vision of freedom that I hold, that Ron Paul advocates, and that past generations of Americans actually got to live.

Right Bill!

And you and your wife are doing your best to make sure we all stay lost. Yours and hers whoring for "Gobal Big Everything", and the UN is shameful.

I'm on a gold standard. RP is my President.

US Federal Debt in kilotonnes of Gold

Reagan,Bush and Clinton borrowed 600 kilotonnes of gold, half borrowed in Clinton's 8 years.

Total US Household Net Worth in Gold.

Dand gummit!!! It was Leprechaun Gold.

Thanks for nothing, bubba.

Free includes debt-free!

Republicans USED to be about this

unfortunately now we rally around Demagogues instead.

His name is Edward Snowden

What is Capitalism?

Clinton's right in a way.

We're all in this together: we need to work together to restore and maintain our liberties. Partisan politics have fractured us all and made it easier for the corrupt to distract us all with "he said/she said" bullshit while they're busy running our Constitution through the shredder.

I don't play, I commission the league.

Working together, Yes! And I

Working together, Yes! And I think - in the end - we all have the same goals. We just don't do a good enough job communicating the best way to achieve them. We should come together for the sake of liberty but neither party talks as if liberty is an issue. Social benefits, foreign wars, economy, are all front and center and both parties fail to incorporate the concept of liberty when addressing these concerns.

"I want to live in a country

"I want to live in a country where I AM on my own"

Impossible. Unless you create your own nation with a population of one, and somehow control it so that it affects nothing around it and absorbs nothing outside of it

"where opportunity is equal for evindividual"

Commuist fantasy. The deck is stacked against some people by virtue of their environment. That is just how it is; that is life.

"and where becoming a "winner" is dependent only on my free will"

A theoretical fantasy that will never happen. So much of success or failure is based on "luck"...and so much is done based on the work of others. Every American, for example, owes something to Jefferson, Madison, Washington, etc. who freed this country and brought about the means for a peaceful and prosperous society.

And just what would have been different in the US today had the British won the revolutionary war - the faces on our fiat money?

Leges sine moribus vanae

I guess I got to explain my self more thoroughly since everyone

is so damn critical.

"I want to live in a country where I AM on my own"
- No tax on my labor. A country where my individual rights are not infringed upon.

"where opportunity is equal for every individual"
- We all live in the same environment. Those who regulate it, who determine the standards which stack the deck against some people are the problem here. Instead of laws applicable for every "individual" we have laws applicable to certain races, classes, etc. And as long as these laws exist, opportunity will not be equal. I do not mean forced labor or any other communist fantasy. Just an economic system where a person is only seen as an individual. That's true equality.

"where becoming a "winner" is dependent only on my free will"
- Not a fantasy! If something be my will, then I will achieve it. Yes we owe a ton to our founders but I owe more to our future to preserve a free society during the present. I meant for "winning" to be defined by the individual. Theirs nothing theoretical about defining a goal and achieving it. Is that not America?

Democrat or Republican? What's the difference?

They are two sides of the same FRN. Face side, they win. Reverse side, we lose.

I miss the Bill Clinton years

I haven't watched any part of either of the two Conventions so far, and I will certaintly not watch Obama's useless speech either.

But last night, I did happen to flip on the TV to watch a re-run of "The Family Guy" (for comic relief), and my TV was on the wrong channel, and up upon the screen pops the giant, oversized head of Bill Clinton. As I listened to him speak, I just couldn't turn away.

Bill Clinton proved last night why he was the best President, and best U.S. Politican that this Country has had since John Kennedy.

During the Clinton years, the whole fraudulent "Reaganomics" Trickle-Down Tax Code charade was exposed and Reversed, the U.S. Debt then went back down, we were mostly in a state of relative Peace for 8 years, we had Three Balanced Budgets in a row, we had both cuts in spending and also helpful investments in job training, education, etc. The Country's Ecomony boomed, and the only scandal was whether the President had sex or not.

Of course it wasn't all perfect either. There was NAFTA, there was the repeal of Glass-Stegall, there was support for the Federal Reserve status-quo (with no auditing), and no Campaign Finance Reform, and there was some unnecessary Militarism. But unlike his shrill wife or Obama, Bill Clinton was not an over-the-top, scorched-earth Neocon. There was far more good that happened...than bad...in those years.

So when Bill Clinton talked about shared sacrifice last night, it reminded me that neither Obama, nor the Blue-Dog Democrates, nor the Reich-Wing Neocon Repiglican 1%-ers have any clue at all about how to govern a Nation.

Setting pure Ideology aside for a moment, there is such a thing called pragmatism, where you work within the boundaries of a broken and a corrupt system .. and you make it work a little bit better and a little fairer, and actually produce better overall results for 100% of the population -- with the rich-Oligarchs greed held somewhat in check.

Bill Clinton did that, and that is to his credit.

Obama has not done that, never will, and just doesn't have a clue.

Bill Clinton had two things waxing his way to 'success'

and ultimately our way to hell - The Internet Bubble feeding tax revenues and the sale of The Family Jewels (our industrial base) via NAFTA and GATT. Pat Buchanan and Ross Perot had it (the economics) right, but Boobus AmericANUS can't see that far ahead.

Leges sine moribus vanae

You forget that pragmatism

You forget that pragmatism must be punished at all costs. It is 100% our way or the highway.

Your chart lies. I'm on a gold standard. RP is my President.

It was a borrowed prosperity. Reagan, Bush and Clinton and their Congresses has us living beyond our means/

Now we are living below our means.

Because Congress has redirected profits to Wall Street via the Fed.
Oddly we don't mind government taking a fixed percentage of every dollar.

Free includes debt-free!

Jimmy Carter

Jimmy Carter looks pretty good in your chart. low wages true, but low debt too!

I missed where you mentioned

I missed where you mentioned when the ATF under his watch murdered 82 US citizens, including 19 children, for the sake of legally owning guns. And Reno was not reprimanded for it either. The Clintons are globalists and communist supporters and nothing less.

Southern Agrarian

That was when you were asleep and dreaming.

Now I trust you are awake and realise that was all a dream. Perhaps not, if you are still mesmerised by Bill Clinton's dulcet tones speaking platitudes that have no connection with reality.

"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)

Balanced Budgets, and even Budget Surpluses

The chart doesn't tell the whole story. Bill Clinton inherited $4.5 Trillion dollars of that debt. So the balanced budgets and surpluses during the Clinton years, represented a reversal of all that historical waste and debt trend (over the course of many decades), and the travesty of the corrupt Bush-Obama years since then.

There was no balanced budget, much less a surplus, when the

national debt has been higher at the end of every fiscal year since 1957.

The national debt increases when you run an annual deficit, which Treasury figures show has been the case for every fiscal year since 1957.

That is because when you have

That is because when you have a budget surplus, the surplus isn't paid into the treasury (paying off of T-bills) until February/March (or when the President instructs them to). Since the Treasury figures only go from September to September, you will miss this paying down the two years Clinton actually had a surplus. Look at the April to April figures for example.

Please cite where the President chooses when money is paid

into the Treasury, and state where this alleged surplus money is stored until the President funnels it into the Treasury.

I suppose if we wanted to use Clintonian budget defintions instead of fiscal year data from the Treasury, you might claim that on any day when federal receipts exceeded federal outlays there was a budget surplus.

If you want to use other time spans that what the government chooses to use, please tell us which 24 (since you claim 2 years) 12 month spans (out of the 96 months of Clinton's 2 terms), he had a balanced budget.

Reagan (the Republicans Wet Dream Candidate) tripled the national debt during his tenure.

??? :/

Key words.....

Winner take all vs. We’re all in it together

That's juxtapose to:

Greed vs. Sharing

See how they're pitting the two again?

Huh, Clinton's forked toung doesn't seem to have a center. Only a left and right side. Hummmm.

If we're all in this together, why am I so alone?

If we're all in this together, why am I so alone?

I mean, I can't get my fellow brothers and sisters in the New Haven Public School Transportation office to change the bus drop-off point literally fifty feet, so they let my kids off in front of my house instead of on the street corner, just out of view.

My brothers and sisters in government won't answer the phone. They won't answer my emails. And my sister in government who drives the bus past my house said she cannot drop them off fifty feet sooner, unless our brothers and sisters in government fill out the appropriate forms and make the necessary decisions that my children are disabled in such a way that they need to be dropped off in front of my house.

Apparently my bus-driving sister in government is afraid of stopping fifty feet sooner, and that our brothers and sisters in government might find out, and punish my bus-driving sister in government for not complying with their forms and votes and analyses.

Or something like that.

"Cowards & idiots can come along for the ride but they gotta sit in the back seat!"

your kid can walk fifty feet

if you dont like it dont have the government take your kid home.

Humourless as usual. How about enjoying life for once?
