Doug Wead says Ron Paul could STILL run in 2016

Seriously, he's not being facetious :

Is Ron Paul too old? Not for me. Konrad Andenauer , Germanys greatest leader of the last two centuries was in power at age 87. Michelangelo began painting the Sistine Chapel at age 71, he was still at it when he died at age 89. The Biblical account of Moses has him beginning his long journey, leading the Israelis from slavery, at age 80. Let Ron Paul lead us out of slavery at age 80.

Here’s a toast to Ron Paul, 2016.

But what do we do now? And more urgent, how should we vote in the 2012 presidential election?

The good news is that as befits the Liberty Movement, I don’t have to make that decision. Each one of us will do that as we want. But here are some of the arguments I am hearing.

Yes, Ron Paul in 2016!

I hope that Ron will run in 2016. Ron is healthier than most people half his age. Besides, he's a doctor and is qualified to make that assessment for himself. I hope nobody is silly enough to say he shouldn't do it if he wants to.

Fed-Up

I agree

Ron Paul keeps very healthy

((((( Head Doug Wead )))))

"If Romney wins? Ron Paul can challenge him and if the GOP cheats again, and makes it clear they will not allow a free process, he could take on the mantle of the Libertarian Party one more time. And this time, boosted by bigger numbers and a wider knowledge of the issues, have an impact.

Consider this, if Ron Paul were the Libertarian candidate right now, some polls have him winning 17% of the vote, which would land him in the national debates and change the course of the country."

This means PREPARE NOW. As in, do not wait until 2015.

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

Did everyone read the full article?

Wead lays out the logic that Gary Johnson is the most reasonable choice for the Liberty Movement in 2012, without coming right out and telling anyone what to do. It was well put.

Until I read that article, I

Until I read that article, I was pretty sure I was just going to write in Ron Paul. I might very well vote Johnson now, and it might very well be more of a vote for Ron Paul than writing in his name. :)

Indicative maybe, but...

"Bottom line? I haven’t decided yet"

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

After the way they treated

After the way they treated him, I'm not sure the Republican Party is worthy of a leader like Paul. They deserve the Mitt.

This is brilliant!

I am not sure why there are so many negative comments on this thread. We have learned so much from Ron Paul. Why do we not listen to him more? He wants to keep fighting. His goal is not and never has been to be POTUS. I would not wish that job upon him. We are in a r3VOLution of ideas. His campaigns are the best way to get the message out. Change is not going to happen top down. Change will occur when enough people understand the principles of liberty and that the State is immoral and cannot save us. Change is not going to happen all at once, it takes time, and we are winning. The further libertarians are away from power right now the better. The economy will get worse before it improves no matter what.

We are the players of the second Enlightenment. Political power is not the ends, it is the means. The ends are an awakening of the people. And we are winning this.

I'll be the first to say it...

Why do I get the feeling that the slogan of the future will be something like: Americans Clear Vision: Vote the eye Doctor Rand Paul :2020

As far as Ron Paul goes, I wouldn't want him to run in his 80's, it was already a major hurtle to convince people he wasn't too old at 76, or even 73 in 2008, plus, he deserves to pass the stress to us, not be 80+ and deal with all all the problems he spent most of his life trying to prevent...Yet, if he wanted to, we'd back him 1000%.. I'm just saying let us not have short comings again and demand him to...

Jesse Benton, is a deal breaker for me, I wouldn't let him take my order at McDonalds, let alone let him manage the Revolution...

Speaking of let downs, and pieces of crap that some of us think hurt us, can I bring up a taboo subject here on the daily paul I must know?? This subject tends to be heroic on other forums, and a deth sentance on the DP, but I want an honest answer....

I will respond with new thread...

And if Jesse Benton (or

And if Jesse Benton (or "Bentusover") is working for him in the next run, I am going to say no thanks.

There is probably a longer list of names that we must make clear: if they are involved next time, no deal, no donations.

I won't get fooled again.

Well, I just added a bookmark for Ron Paul 2016!

Yours is the first post in there, Doug!

If Romney wins this election

If Romney wins this election I think Ron Paul should run in the democratic primary next go around. He will really be able to show how the two parties are no different. He would easily pull the peace vote.

Not leveraging.

In switching to the Democrips, he'd leave behind a massive, already-in-place structure in the Rebloodican Party.

I'd say keep building what's he's help build, and stay where he is.

...people who mocked him will be begging for him to be prez!

I'm going to try this again...

Wow, I got down voted like crazy for my first post on this and called a troll for the first time on the DP. So I'm going to try this again...
I am far from a Romney supporter. If I was getting paid by Romney he'd fire me since I've talked people out of voting for him and into voting for Ron Paul.
All I'm saying is I don't think Gary Johnson will have enough votes to win. not because he shouldn't win, not because I don't want him to win, but because I don't think he can win. All of you people that down voted me, are you saying that you think he can win? If so how do you come to this conclusion after you have seen what happened to Ron Paul and we all know here that Ron Paul is a lot more well known and has a hell of a lot more support than GJ...so I'm afraid to vote for him because I think it will pull votes away from Romney (who I don't want to win either)but this would in turn help Obama (who frankly scares the crap out of me too). This is why I called it "risky". We are not in a good place. We have very bad options for president and we will loose whether it is Romney or Obama for president. Frankly, as I've said in another post, I don't know if I should just suck it up and deal with Obama for just 4 more years or deal with Romney's lying cheating smug smiling face for 8 years. To me the easy way out is to vote for Gary Johnson (who I would love to have win over these 2 jokers) but I don't believe he will have enough coverage or support to win, which brings me back to my original statement, that in voting for Gary it might help Obama.

So... You only vote for winners?

Do you get something for picking the winner? Is this a horserace?

A vote is not a bet. A vote is a statement of what you believe in; so to be heard, you should vote for Johnson to send a message to the other parties. Republicans will figure out they *need* the liberty vote to win the Whitehouse. IMO they have already lost it this time around by nominating a gun-banning, pro-abortion liberal RINO and pissing off an important faction of their party at the same time. Personally, I do not want a Republican 'in charge' when all our problems blow up sometime in the next 4 years.

Relax. Vote your conscious or

Relax. Vote your conscious or don't even bother voting at all. Obombya is going to win this kabuki theatre performance. Mitt will not be able to pull enough moderate and independent votes...and he sure alienated our movement. Obomba now has a lot more power and money than Mitt and he is even more shrewd and experienced in Chicago style dirty politics.

No use batting this back and forth

Willard can't win without us or diebold. I hope that makes his day since it's all a set up anyway.

NOT voting for Willard or GJ or anyone else for that matter. I do not forget what Willard and Priebus the weirdo did to the Rules...

So with all the vote flipping, how many votes will Willard really get? The bare minimum.

We are sunk no matter what. Neither candidate is worth the time to check the ballot off. But I'll check off (R) all the way down the ballot cuz lazybama will stay in office as planned by him and Willard.

RP could have won the whole she-bang but he clammed up in the middle of the primary.
Pick a clue.
He doesn't want it.
Someone threatened him
He wants to retire.

BITE ME!

Keepin' it real.

If Mitt loses he'll be back in 2016.

With the new rules, national delegates will auctioned to the highest qualified bidder.

Free includes debt-free!

He'll be back in 2016 and

He'll be back in 2016 and even moe floppy-floppy than before.

This is brilliant! If Romney

This is brilliant! If Romney wins and Ron runs in 2016 the MSM will be forced to cover it! Think about it, we will get a huge percentage in IA(especially if the Tea Party is pissed at Romney) and will be polling high enough to be taken serious at about 30%+, we might be able to force a debate, but at the end of the day we RUN the IA GOP. What happens if there is cheating? We go to AJ Spiker! Who knows, maybe Rand Paul is playing nice so HE can challenge Romney in 2016 if he doesn't live up to his promises. Either way it sounds like Ron Paul is going to keep building this movement!

Will not support another run in the GOP or if Benton is involved

I don't know about you guys and gals! What is it about hitting your head against a brick wall that you find so productive?

I've had it with this fantasy. The GOP is not going away after they lose this election. They will only entrench harder.

Sorry folks but I'm not going down this road any more! Two election cycles is enough for me...

If he's going to run

The time is NOW

HELL YEAH!!!

RP is in great shape from the looks of all the videos. I would totally be on board for a 2016 run. I don't care what people think. He's the only one that is qualified to be the leader of the free world.

This needs more bumps. Maybe its an apple dangling on a line, but for liberty hell yeah.

The Economic Collapse Will Prevent Grassroots Donations Small

The establishment, especially an incumbent Romney presidency will make it nearly impossible for Ron Paul to compete financially. If a Romney Presidency fails there will be an outcry fro Hillary Clinton to run and she will have the support of the DNC and the bankers..

Either way, Ron Paul probably won't be able to compete because only the grassroots will donate to him. If the economy tanks how is Ron Paul going to get enough money to travel across America to campaign and get his message out? How is he going to get money for advertizing, plane fair, hotels, food and security detail?

No, we had our chance in 2012 and we could compete fairly because of all the fraud and dirty tricks, not to mention what happened at the RNC..

He will however, have the name recognition, but the media will just ignore him and marginialize him once again like they did in 2007 and 2012..

Ron Paul is the right man but we will have the same issues to overcome once again..

What is going to change?

If anyone can prove to me that we will be able to compete financially and get treated more fairer than we have in the past, then I'm in..

But, there is alot that can and will happen to prevent this event from happening..

Ron Paul needs to expand his base considerably to be competitve. Only then will anyone take him as a serious candidate.

We did all we could do to expand it and we failed. I don't see how in another four years is going to make one bit of difference.

The Paul supporters need to wait at least 2 years before any of this talk makes any sense, not to mention Dr. Paul's age. He will be 80 years old. No one is going to vote for someone that old. The people want young fresh faces. They will use this as a big reason not to support someone who as old as Moses..

If the economy crashes, Gold

If the economy crashes, Gold will skyrocket. So I see no problem for Ron Paul supporters to donate.

However I see one for the big banks, because they can no more just print the money to fund a campaign.

What is important now, is to educate about the economy as much as possible. There should be something really big like a TV show for the sheep that helps to educate the people so they learn what the problems are and get to the right soulution. But I don't know how to establish such a thing in the biased media. Maybe the Judge could do something like this...

Get the word of Austrian Economics and Ron Paul out to as many people as possible and they will cry for him when the crash occurs. I think most of the Republicans except a few neocons have already reached that point. If the crash had occured before the primary, Ron Paul would have won in a landslide. The only problem are some brainwashed liberals who just haven't even the slightest clue about economics and are ignorant, in addition. They will probably reach out to Communism after the crash. So our job is to educate those who are open minded and willing to listen. About the other ones I've given up all hope, already years ago. It's just impossible to teach them anything which is based by logic. They just don't understand it...

Actually, there's no

Actually, there's no guarantee gold would skyrocket. The best advice is to stay diversified because the world is becoming less and less stable.

Excellent post Freedom2012!

Thank you. Remember, we are not going to get everybody, but we do need the majority to at least want a change.
