Johnson Says Troops Over There Are "Keeping us safe."

"Our thoughts and our gratitude are also with the amazing men and women of our military who are putting themselves on the line every day to keep us safe." - Gary Johnson, Sept. 11, 2011

Kowtowing to the cruel lie that is keeping us in chains. No, Gary, blowing Iraqi babies to bits and bombing Afghan wedding parties is not keeping us "safe." This is a fundamental part of the Ron Paul Revolution.

What's next? We need to fight them there so we don't have to fight them here? Civilian casualties are unfortunate but unavoidable?

Political courage is for every day of the week, not for when no one is watching and waiting to jump down your throat. When millions were watching is exactly when truth-tellers like Ron Paul tell us that they don't hate us for our freedoms...they hate us "because we're OVER THERE!"

See: "blowback."

You cannot defend the war machine and be a Libertarian. War is the enemy of liberty.

""Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes. And armies, and debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few." James Madison

this is misleading BS. Seriously? This is what the author of this post has to pin on Gary? How about the NDAA..how about increased troups and bases throughout the world...how about Romney basically promising a war with iran and increasing military presence around the world. You're spot on man...this post is BS. Not to mention many of the troops do believe they are putting their lives on the line to keep us safe.

LOL if you are 'putting yourself on the line every day'

it is probably not in front of the PX of the Walmart in town. Unless Johnson now is a foe of Posse Comitatus. In the military you are "on the line" when you are deployed. And everyone knows where the shooting wars are.

Sure I know he said other stuff, but it's easy to say one thing to one crowd and another thing to another. It's called pandering and means a man will go which way the wind blows. You guys have a nerve coming in and thinking Johnson can even shine Ron's shoes.

I just told my Coast Guard buddy what you said, and he's not laughing. Even in complete peacetime military training is dangerous.

The title of your post is "Johnson Says Troops Over There Are "Keeping us safe", but that's NOT what Johnson said. The fact that you have to lie to tarnish the man that Dr. Paul called "wonderful", not only shows how weak your position is, but says something about your integrity.

Yea I just told my dad who is a five star general what you

said. He said everyone knows when you use the trigger words "putting yourself on the line every day" and "keeping us safe" you are talking about Iraq and Afghanistan. There are no Taliban in the Walmart parking lot.

Now add to the uglyness of Johnsonites the uglyness of condescension, acting like Paulers are stupid like everyone else and don't know exactly how words are used.

Johnson made a statement in support of the troops

he did NOT say over there.

At the moment your entire op-ed is a piece of pure propaganda with ZERO evidence.
So give me some verifiable evidence.

Some statement Johnson actually has made.
A substantial donation by a neocon organization / think tank.
Anything verifiable that would make me think Johnson is a neocon.

I am near the end of this thread now and absolutely no one has presented any evidence whatsover to support your case - including you.

"In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all -- security, comfort, and freedom. When ... the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."

Exactly Sue

Brent your making yourself look stupid grasping at straws.

Gary Johnson in MY OPINION is a Shill for the Establishment, to take away Ron Pauls support and divide and conquer it.

He has shown nothing to the contrary.

Ron Paul is not running for office!

How can Johnson take away support from someone he's not running against? Remember, Ron Paul said at the GOP convention that Gary Johnson is "wonderful" and "doing a good job". If what you say is true, why would Ron Paul say that?

Wow, What the. . .

You really are ignorant.

Why do these Gary Johnson trolls simply not get it, This is a FIGHT that will be going on WAY PAST THIS ELECTION! And NO we will not be destroying Ron Paul's support, Like the Tea Party was destroyed, BY COMPROMISING ON PRICNIPLE!

Seriously, How can you be so ignorant to not even understand that?

Ignorant people like you really do get on my nerves.

Ron Paul is a nice guy, what else is he going to say, At least there is a Protest vote there. Im talking about support FOR A CAUSE, Not a bloody election.

Man your still stuck in your little bubble world, Look at the big picture.

I was just about

to say the same thing. He said nothing about the troops "over there". I interpret this quote as a general support for all of our soldiers.

Baloney. He could have said "I wish to express our support and

appreciation for our men and women in uniform." "Keep us safe" is Bush talk for the morons.

Johnson knew exactly what he was doing. He was pandering to the Neocon nutcases, the Sarah Palin crowd.

I am beginning to think

SUE4thebillofrights is a ROMNEY TROLL

At the moment that is a more credible assertion

than what is in the op-ed.

"In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all -- security, comfort, and freedom. When ... the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."

I think your

having problems understanding that Gary Johnson is no liberty candidate.

No you are either a Romney troll seeking to disrupt the

Ron Paul write-in discussion, which you have, and shunt potentially embarrasing Paul write-ins into the Johnson vote, or you are a dumb Johnson troll.

Dumb because a smart Johnson troll would be doing everything to get Ron Paul at the head of the LP ticket so you can be something besides a perpetually irrelevant party.

Release the Sandy Hook video.

Even if he had said what you suggested...

...you have proven that you have no problems adding words to change the context of a quote. Despicable.

The op-ed is pure propaganda

it offers no evidence to backup what is written.

The heading is a bare faced lie.

"In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all -- security, comfort, and freedom. When ... the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."

I believe the context of the quote is two major land wars

in which thousands of young Americans at the real start of their lives have died for no good reason whatsoever. And CERTAINLY not keeping "us safe," like your Gary Johnson said. Or haven't you heard? Guess not, and THAT'S despicable.

You elitist Libertarian Party Trotskyites treat politics as a parlor game, and now you disrupt the discussions for a candidate who has a real chance of winning. The troops are for Ron Paul for a reason: He tells them the truth ALL the time, not just some of the time.

I've traveled all over the country to support Ron Paul, and I've made thousands of
Ron Paul buttons that I've passed out my own expense. I voted for Ron Paul in two primaries, and helped get delegates elected for my state convention. I am a Ron Paul voter, and I'm voting for Gary Johnson for president.

Why are you still voting for the lesser of evils?

I'm not!

I voting for someone that Ron Paul calls "wonderful", and who Ron Paul says is "doing a good job".

Is that all you have, I could not care less what Ron Paul called Johnson, He didnt endorse him did he.

Ron Pauls a nice guy, what else is he going to say. Ron Paul also told him pretty much to piss off when Gary Johnson came seeking an endorsement.

No I will not be falling for your, Oh so unintellectual arguement.

Gary Johnson is still the Third Lesser Evil anyway you look at it.

He supports the KONY 2012 movement and war in Uganda, If you support that your an IGNORANT MORON, or a WARMONGERER.

Here's more of Johnson's "neocon" foreign policy:

In 2001, I supported going into Afghanistan to uproot al Qaeda. We succeeded in a matter of months. The Taliban was humbled and al Qaeda scattered to the winds -- all within a year.

But rather than leave immediately, the United States stayed -- for another 11 long years. We’ve lost too many lives and spent too many hundreds of billions of dollars, trying to build a nation that doesn't want to be built.

Barack Obama and Mitt Romney want to keep troops in Afghanistan until at least 2014. I’m Gary Johnson, Libertarian candidate for President, and I won’t wait.

As president of the United States, I’ll immediately order our troops home from Afghanistan. We will no longer put American lives in harm’s way or rack up more government debt that we simply cannot afford.

We must bring troops home from around the world NOW.

We must cut military spending dramatically NOW to avoid becoming another Greece - a country that’s awash in debt, unrest, and massive unemployment.

Nearly a quarter-century after the fall of the Berlin Wall, we still maintain nearly 54,000 American troops in Germany, 11,000 in Italy and over 9,000 in Britain. More than 39,000 are still stationed in Japan.

This is all being funded with money we just don’t have.

Barack Obama and Mitt Romney want to keep these costly and unnecessary military bases open. Obama wants to spend more money on the military, and Romney wants to buy the Navy more ships.

During my presidency, I will bring many of these troops home and close hundreds of unneeded bases overseas, saving over $1 Trillion within five years.

I will reduce military spending by 43 percent -- yet there will be no shortage of American troops, military hardware or military force to defend our country if there’s ever a need.

The United States will still be the preeminent military power in the world -- and defense will actually mean defense.

This will reduce hostility towards America and make us safer.

More countries will be willing to import American goods and services - which will create more jobs here at home.

American will be, not just a military power, but also an economic power -- with a solvent and strong economy.

Let’s make America the land of Peace and Prosperity.

Join me at Lp.org and get involved!

That does not sound very neocon to me

"In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all -- security, comfort, and freedom. When ... the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."

Well uh uh uh but but He's just showing support for the troops.

us safe from WHAT?

A bunch of goat herders with AK's and RPG's protecting their own country?

This is a huge red flag to me. I've been trying to keep an open mind, but that is changing rapidly.

Anyone who thinks that our troops are over there keeping us safe, or protecting our freedoms is either lying, or has their head deeply embedded in their ass.

Please re-read the quote

and have some respect for our military. They signed their lives away under the pretense of protecting Americans, but sadly, they are being mislead like the majority of us civilians. As the wife of a soldier, I can tell you that a lot of these guys enlisted for two reasons: to support their families and to make this world a better place for you and me to live in. You don't have to support the wars to support our troops.

No One is Saying That

No one is slamming the troops. We are slamming the policy that puts them there. We know why they enlisted; I enlisted for the same reasons. I want my brothers in arms to come home as much or more than you do. I support them, that is why I want them to stop getting blown up and damaged for the rest of their lives.

These are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others."
