A call for unity between Paul supporters and Johnson supporters.

I have seen the war between Ron Paul supporters and Gary Johnson supporters and I think it is rather silly that people in this movement have such a hard time following Ron Paul's advice. It is pretty simple to me.

We can not force our goodwill on anyone, we can only set good examples and hope people wish to emulate us. --Ron Paul

My suggestion would be that if you support Gary Johnson, fine support him. That is what freedom is. If you support Ron Paul, fine. Most of us here do support Ron Paul and have for several years. If you support both fine, but lets stop eating our own.

The goal should be to grow the liberty movement not divide it. Great movements are always destroyed from within, not the other way around.

I have seen the arguments from both sides and many statements are misguided. The whole notion that some claim they are turned off on Gary Johnson because Johnson supporters are trying to cram Johnson down your throats is the same excuse where many called people that didn't support Ron Paul sheep because, those people claimed they wouldn't support Ron Paul because Ron Paul supporters tried to force Paul on them. Do you see how silly that argument is?

How can anyone force anyone else to support someone?

My suggestion would be if you are not going to support Johnson fine, don't result to name calling of Johnson supporters, this makes you no better than the people that did the same thing to Ron Paul that pisses us off. Talking to people in a civil manner goes a long way, insulting them is counter productive and will accomplish nothing more than to isolate people that may share many of the same things you support.

You may not like the people you are working with, they may not like you, but we are all supposed to be working towards the same goal. So why don't we start with the things we agree on first and worry about the rest later?

Michael Badnarik said this best: We agree with each other about 98% of the time on most issues but, we spend 98% of the time b!tching, complaining and arguing about the 2% we disagree on, this is why nothing gets done, and he is correct!

You don't like a post? Don't read it, it is easy to ignore posts and comments. You don't have to agree with people but you do need to find a way to work together to grow the movement and attempt to effect real change this country needs or we will accomplish nothing. Take the high road and let freedom work for a change.

For the record I have not given my support to Gary Johnson although I did spend some private time with him at Paulfest in Tampa because I was paulfest staff and had access to Gary. My vote is just that MY VOTE! I will not tell others what to do with their vote -- please don't tell others what to do with theirs. Set good examples and educate them in a civil manner, you will win more people over that way in the long and short term.

If we continue down this US vs THEM attitude we only divide our numbers even more. I prefer to follow Ron Paul's example of integrity and I hope you will as well.

I support them both. RP first

I support them both. RP first and foremost, GJ after the fact. Unite in liberty!! We cannot let this movement fade!!

I Can't believe this is happening

I just joined this site today because I was looking for a place where all of Ron Paul supporters were in communication with each other. I was hoping to find out what the plan was to get ALL our voices heard.
I am sickened by what has happened to all of Ron Paul’s supporters.
The ONLY way that we are going to get our voice heard by the repubs and the demons it to stay UNITED!!! We need numbers to be heard.
I personally would love it if we all could write in Ron Paul and it would be counted and heard. But unfortunately that is not the case.
There is only ONE way for all of us to stay united and have all of our voices heard, and that is to vote Libertarian. Even if you do not agree with Gary Johnson or even if you hate him. Voting for the Libertarian party is the only way that ALL of our votes will count and our statement made to the rest of the country. We must stand TOGETHER and keep the REVOLUTION going or we all lose. PLEASE I AM BEGGING ALL OF YOU TO STOP THE FIGHTING. PLEASE DO NOT DISTROY ALL THE HARD WORK THAT WE ALL HAVE DONE. Let’s take this country by storm and yell at the top of our lungs that we WILL BE HEARD!!!!

How many GOP meetings have you been?

I don't mean sign waving at a convention. I mean how many GOP meetings have you attended and participated in?

Those who ARE united AGAINST the GOP have lost their way by REACTING to MSM, subjective listening, and watching YouTubes for a "virtual" reality about the GOP; but YOU have no personal experience. Your opinion is based on pictures and other's stories that you wanted to hear to confirm what you FEEL about a GOP you really don't KNOW.

The GOP has lost it's way. That's a fact. We see from them breaking their own rules, but they are not alone, it happens in the Democratic Party and the third parties, which does not make it ok, it makes it impossible from fighting from the outside, because the outside is a spillover from the inside to protect the inside. The inside needs to be restored to the oaths we take.

Not taking oaths does not free you, but subject you to those who take oaths. It's the way it is and it can't be changed from the outside. The rEVOLution is not a joke or a flash in the pan. It is an idea for liberty that works to restore a party that stands for the republic.. the Republican party, and we stand, until we can face the Democrats, who promise to fight even dirtier than the GOP.. but the old shell is coming off and by standing for truth and freedom with love, not running away because you hate and fear.

the hard work is in the GOP

the rest is for fun and you can scream as loud as legally allowed and they will not hear you because they don't want to, which is why many of us former Libertarianas, like Ron Paul, remain in the GOP, which the LP picks a Republican nominee.

Presidential candidate - Merlin Miller

If the valid RP write-ins happen in NYS, then that is a go. If not I was looking at Gary Johnson. Now there is also Merlin Miller of the American Third Party.

People are stating to get the scoop on him.

I have an idea, Since it really does not matter now that Dr. Paul is no longer running. Go and vote. take a pen with you, cross out the other names and write in RON PAUL. what could it hurt. and if millions do such a thing, what do you think will happen. I'll tell you, The peoples voice will be heard around the world.

Why write in Ron Paul when

Why write in Ron Paul when you can vote for Gary Johnson who is actually on the ballots and is aligned with most or our principles? Seems like a wasted vote otherwise.

As long as we keep the

As long as we keep the argument alive, we can strengthen our own philosophies. Being able to draw contrasts between Ron Paul and the "similar alternative" allows us to strengthen and narrow our message. I supported Ron Paul because I agreed most with his political and economic philosophy, being so willing to accept a perceived "alternative", no questions asked, is being willing to dilute our message.

Gary Johnson is our best bet

at this point. We will hold hands and DESTROY THE GOP!!!!!!!!!

Sorry but I will not vote for a candidate that has never served in the armed forces.I will write in Ronald Ernest Paul.

Gary Johnson is our BEST chance at this point

Lets support him and advance our movement.

you hit the nail on the head

Advance the movement and make Gary Johnson ours! We can be the core of a viable 3rd Party!

what will you do if you dont have your freedom

There's no need to change parties to vote Libertarian

I think fixing the Republican party is still important. We should continue replacing dishonest people with principled conservatives and move the party back to it's roots. Continue putting liberty candidates in office. But having some competition could only help. With another party to turn to, each party would have to truly consider what American citizens want - not just the lobbyists and special interest groups. We have the whole future ahead of us to determine what works, what should be changed and which party serves us best.

I would not be so certain that Gary Johnson can't win. Ron Paul has said that only about 16% of the population votes for a candidate they actually like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1LMoWqXrE4 . Considering the precarious state of things, and the growing discontent (tea party, occupy), this may be the year enough people rebel against the status quo to make a difference. I suspect that with a Johnson presidency, congress would be so resentful, they'd go back to fulfilling their role of keeping the presidential powers in check. And a win by Johnson could mean some significant position for Ron Paul - somewhere that he could do a great deal of good!

At the very least, competition would be increased and that always leads to a better product.

Get out of GOP

Let help the liberty movement by supporting Gary Johnson.
GOP has SPAT on RON PAUL!!!!

I can't believe the short sightedness I hear here

Gary Johnson is for the CFR. Gary Johnson is pro-abortion. Blah blah blah. Some Ron Paul supporters need to take a few reality pills.

1. Of the candidates ON THE BALLOT, Gary Johnson is far and away the closest to Ron Paul in terms of policy positions. Dr. Paul himself said that we need to look at GJ.
2. Gary Johnson is NOT going to win. So complaining about his position on this or that or the other thing is completely IRRELEVANT, since he will not become the President in November.
3. The best we can hope for is to make a undeniable public statement to the media and GOP where the Paul people went. This will make the GOP (when they lose) see clearly that they either embrace us or the Democrats win. The only way we do this is by staying UNITED.

He Can Win!

Of course if most people believe he won't win then there is a good chance he won't. But he can win the majority of Americans are sick of the big two and Gary could win if he gets enough exposure.

We need to break the brain washing of "he can't win" that is republocrat BS propaganda to keep the big two in power and was even used on Ron Paul.

How many times have you talked to people about Ron Paul who said I like him "but he can't win"

Its BS Gary can and will win if we quit this defeatist attitude and get him the exposure he needs! Hes the only guy actually on all the ballots worth voting for!

End The Fat
70 pounds lost and counting! Get in shape for the revolution!

I especially agree with your second point. I'm moving over to the Libertarian Party because the Republican Party has proven itself dirty as hell. And I'm voting for Gary Johnson even though he's pro-choice. The nation is in full-blown debt, unemployment is high, the Federal Reserve keeps on inflating, the warmongering won't stop any time soon. I am definitely going to make my vote count in order to put the Libertarian Party on the map for 2016. And even if I did really hate that Gary Johnson was pro-choice, who cares you're right he's not going into office anyways. Let's use this election cycle to get the LP on the map and as a viable third party.

I don't think the GOP is going to change from within. We went into the whale's belly to try to change it. We thought we could change it, but the whale sh*t us out into the ocean, so I'm moving onto the whale that already accepts me.

I suppose as long as it's to "make a statement"...

but what the statement sounds like to me is "I still believe that my vote matters, that they are being counted and not being flipped to whoever I DON'T want". What happens to your statement when you vote and the computer simply counts it for Rombama? Yeah, you showed THEM.
Better to demonstrate a "vote" of "no confidence" and stay home, explain to everyone you know and educate people as to the reality of "voting". What WILL "show them" is when people stop falling for the fake ritual, the pretense that they are anything but slaves getting to choose between the pre-selected foremen on the plantation. When people stop dutifully voting for their masters and teaching their kids to worship dead presidents THEN they'll know the jig is up. When you participate in their rigged game you are in the Matrix.

I have no problem working with Johnson supporters

if they will help us elect Republican Liberty candidates to the House of Representatives and Senate, just like I have no problems working with Goode supporters if they will help us elect Liberty Republican candidates to the House of Representatives and Senate. In politics, the friend of my friend.....is my friend.

ELECTED... STick with Liberty movement...

"Stick with the Liberty movement"

You just automatically assume that the Liberty Movement is universally voting for Johnson. Why didn't Johnson "stick with the Liberty movement" when he had the chance this time last year? He could have dropped out when Ron Paul became a candidate and thrown his endorsement and full-fledged support behind Ron Paul. Johnson is nothing more than a Republican reject who left the GOP in debt over his head because the Libertarian Party couldn't find a better loser. Seriously, why waste my time promoting Johnson when we have good, viable Congressional candidates out there who can and will win if we help them?

Liberty Movement

I found Ron Paul in 1988 in the Libertarian Party. I found Gary Johnson in 2012 in the Libertarian Party. I watched as Dr Paul changed from Libertarian to Republican, I watched as Gary Johnson changed from Republican to Libertarian.

No wars without congressional approval, ending the drug war, audit the Fed, abolish the IRS, smaller government, ending the Indef Det in the NDAA, getting rid of the Patriot Act, I could keep going on all of the areas they agree on (the crucial issues).

Why does it have to be Paul vs Johnson, even though Paul exclaimed that Johnson "is wonderful"? Have you heard him say that about any other pres. candidate?

I had no problem seamlessly moving from Paul to Johnson. Does that make me a traitor? I have worked my butt off and donated heavily for Dr Paul every time he has ran, including 1988.

I support Johnson on the issues he and Paul agree on,and you know what? That's plenty good for me. I now see people trolling around with videos and text, out of context and not germane, tearing down Johnson. These are the same people who got so angry when others were doing the same thing to Paul. Neither Paul nor Johnson stood/stand much of a chance of winning. It's about the issues I listed above. It's about the message.

We stand together or fall apart. Each of us makes that choice.

No way Johnson is going to win...

But we could at least boost his numbers to give more credibility to future LP candidates.

Now, how exactly would it help us

if future LP candidates gain more credibility? The goal of registering Republican wasn't just to vote for Ron Paul. It was so we could build a party within a party in which to run future Congressional AND presidential candidates should Ron Paul not make it this year. If we build up the LP and the LP becomes a force to be reckoned with by 2020 or 2024 when we finally have the numbers to capture the GOP nomination for president, we're going to be competing with two major parties in the general election - which means the Democratic nominee will win with less than a majority because libertarians will end up splitting their votes.

It would help us Libertarians

It would help us Libertarians with our own party. Duh.
