A call for unity between Paul supporters and Johnson supporters.

I have seen the war between Ron Paul supporters and Gary Johnson supporters and I think it is rather silly that people in this movement have such a hard time following Ron Paul's advice. It is pretty simple to me.

We can not force our goodwill on anyone, we can only set good examples and hope people wish to emulate us. --Ron Paul

My suggestion would be that if you support Gary Johnson, fine support him. That is what freedom is. If you support Ron Paul, fine. Most of us here do support Ron Paul and have for several years. If you support both fine, but lets stop eating our own.

The goal should be to grow the liberty movement not divide it. Great movements are always destroyed from within, not the other way around.

I have seen the arguments from both sides and many statements are misguided. The whole notion that some claim they are turned off on Gary Johnson because Johnson supporters are trying to cram Johnson down your throats is the same excuse where many called people that didn't support Ron Paul sheep because, those people claimed they wouldn't support Ron Paul because Ron Paul supporters tried to force Paul on them. Do you see how silly that argument is?

How can anyone force anyone else to support someone?

My suggestion would be if you are not going to support Johnson fine, don't result to name calling of Johnson supporters, this makes you no better than the people that did the same thing to Ron Paul that pisses us off. Talking to people in a civil manner goes a long way, insulting them is counter productive and will accomplish nothing more than to isolate people that may share many of the same things you support.

You may not like the people you are working with, they may not like you, but we are all supposed to be working towards the same goal. So why don't we start with the things we agree on first and worry about the rest later?

Michael Badnarik said this best: We agree with each other about 98% of the time on most issues but, we spend 98% of the time b!tching, complaining and arguing about the 2% we disagree on, this is why nothing gets done, and he is correct!

You don't like a post? Don't read it, it is easy to ignore posts and comments. You don't have to agree with people but you do need to find a way to work together to grow the movement and attempt to effect real change this country needs or we will accomplish nothing. Take the high road and let freedom work for a change.

For the record I have not given my support to Gary Johnson although I did spend some private time with him at Paulfest in Tampa because I was paulfest staff and had access to Gary. My vote is just that MY VOTE! I will not tell others what to do with their vote -- please don't tell others what to do with theirs. Set good examples and educate them in a civil manner, you will win more people over that way in the long and short term.

If we continue down this US vs THEM attitude we only divide our numbers even more. I prefer to follow Ron Paul's example of integrity and I hope you will as well.

yes I believe he has

That voting record is another problem with him though. Again I wish it was Chuck Baldwin running again. As of now I plan on voting CP again, if nothing else to grow support for it. I did vote LP in 2004 just because is was more well know at the time and I hadn't fully researched the CP. Then there was Barr and his hissy fit and shunning of Ron Paul in 2008, Ron Paul then supported Chuck Baldwin which led me to research the CP, I wish more on here would do the same. Most of the reasons I'm not a big fan of GJ have allready been stated here so I won't even get into that.

A politician is a liar and they repudiate anything for a Vote.

Either they are a liar of a slave-maker, or both.

Lose the voting fetish. It makes people turn candidates into something they are not.

Well said.

I hope people will take up your advice. We have to keep a clear focus as to who is the true enemy of liberty.

If I wanted another CFR

stooge I could vote for Obama or Rombama. Besides, even if Johnson were legit, if they could do what they did to Ron Paul, Johnson and his fake controlled opp LP are toast.

Funny how GJ lovers accuse us of being for Romney

Like GJ could fill a toenail of Ron Paul's shoes?

He can't even fill a toenail of the Daily Paul.

Every post for/about GJ is about blindingly cheerleading or accepting him and hating others for not drinking the DMT koolaid.

The only difference between GJ and Romney is an L and an R.

Romney says he's for all the same crap as GJ, including auditing/ending the fed now.

Fight the Ron Paul blackout on the Daily Paul (now 'P AU L'), put his removed poster back as your avatar:

Enough already.

A lot of us are tired of this. Not because we are gun-ho about these candidates, its because you are getting other liberty minded supporters upset for no reason other than YOUR OWN pettyness. No need to insult their candidate choices it serves nothing. Read the OP's post.

Let's be professional. We have real enemies, GJ supporters are not one of them.

You calling for unity after you've tried to squash Dr.Paul's

chances by stealing his supporters info and siphoning off cash for your own criminal and self satisfying agendas is pathetic.

The fact that people are even responding to you as they are is proof they are gullible.

#1 reason I can't vote for Johnson

And you can call me names and vote me down all you want. He is pro-choice. I am not a "one issue" voter but when that one issue deals with innocent Life that is unable to protect or defend itself I don't mess around. Ron Paul is very concerned and disturbed about a nation that doesn't protect Life (in all forms, death penalty, war, abortion, etc)and Johnson should be too.

"Once you become knowledgeable, you have an obligation to do something about it."- Ron Paul

and no I am not a "Romney plant"

I don't believe one bit that he cares about innocent life either.

"Once you become knowledgeable, you have an obligation to do something about it."- Ron Paul

Vote flipping makes this entire discussion MOOT!

Don't most of us agree that the "winner" is already pre-ordained? IF Johnson were to be seen as winning, the switch will be turned on. Until voter fraud is addressed, this is much ado about nothing.

Why I don't like Gary

I am torn between doing 2 things;FINDING A 3RD Party candidate I really like or writing in Paul. Some say a write in is a waste but if Romney loses by 2% and they see 2% wrote in Paul, won't that send a powerful message not to mess with us again? Now why not Gary? My minds still open
so if any Johnson supporters can change my mind go ahead but hear are my reasons. 1)NOT A MAN OF HIS WORD- early in the campaign before Paul would commit himself Gary got in. He said since Paul wasn't running someone had to but he would "get out if Paul got in" He didn't but stayed until it was evident he had no support. 2) I heard him state on TV that he would stop all foreign aid except for Israel. This is like saying I'll chase all the animals out of the house except the elephant in the living room.3)His site says he will end medicare.Even Ron Paul has said medicare and Social Sec would remain for any one that put 1 dime in the system, only for new workers. It doesn't impress me that he has no problem cutting medical care for Americans but doesn't have the guts to cut the 3 billion US dollars that helps fund free medical care for every Israeli citizen.

In regards to write-ins

In Arizona, write-ins are allowed if the candidate has registered as a write-in candidate. In 2008, Chuck Baldwin was registered and several in my family, including myself wrote him in. It was months before the write-in numbers were even posted on the Secretary of State's website, and it was never publicized anywhere else that Baldwin got any votes in Arizona.

Writing in Ron Paul is certainly a valid option, but be aware that it is highly unlikely that votes for Ron Paul will ever see the light of day. While it may indeed be the right choice for you, I don't think that any message sent will be very powerful.

Denise B's picture

Those are very good points

that are hard to ignore. The bottom line is, I do not trust him and I can not vote for someone I do not trust. I agree with many of the points the OP made, but at the same time I think that a discussion of the facts is necessary to vet any person running for office. It is not a personal attack if you are speaking the truth about someone, it's just stating the truth.

Also, I know that the abortion issue is very devisive; however, at the same time, for those of us of faith, it is one that we can not budge on. I am well aware that many just do not get why it is an issue, but for those of us that believe in God, we simply can not support someone who sanctions abortion because to do so in our minds is the same as supporting someone who claims that it is ok to murder. There is no room for semantics on this issue and Gary Johnson is pro-abortion, so for some of us, that is simply the end of the discussion.

There are many libertarians who do not feel the same way, and I completely respect their right to do so; however, many times I have seen people of faith belittled or begrudged simply because they have the pro-life position. There needs to be respect for each other's beliefs on both sides if we are going to find common ground to work on, and it must be be common ground that doesn't require either side to compromise their strongly held personal convictions.

"and they see 2% write in Paul"

Please Please Please make sure you understand the write-in process in your state. So far, nobody has been able to answer my question whether Ron Paul has registered as a write-in candidate (and the deadline has passed in most states)

Ron Paul is done :(

as much as it hurts to type that please realize there is still a legitimate third option. Check GJ out please. He shares a lot of the same views of the issues. His plan does differ from that of Dr. Paul's but over all GJ is still promoting peace and prosperity for America!! Thank you for reading this and continue to vote for true Liberty!

Abortion is the biggest

Abortion is the biggest problem we face in this country? Wow.

One of many

IMO The opinion towards the most helpless in society is a Foundational Pivot Point upon which other decisions are made to resolve those many problems.

Abortion is a stepping stone. http://www.dailypaul.com/comment/2725115

A Few Questions

How does abortion affect my liberty? Is it preferable to push abortions to the black market? How well has that worked with drugs? Has pushing drugs underground decreased drug use? Is it easier for a minor to buy a joint or a beer?

How does abortion affect liberty?

"Liberty Defined: 50 Essential Issues That Affect Our Freedom" by Ron Paul. Chapter 1 (if you just mean "your liberty" I'd say the fact that you were not aborted probably affected you) You can actually read chapter 1 on abortion for free in the amazon preview.

IMO, It is kept at the

IMO, It is kept at the Federal Level to control voting blocks within each Party. If abortion was removed from the Federal Level and sent back to the states each state could decide for itself and people can vote within the state.

Abortion funding at the Federal Level affects your liberty because money is taken out of your wallet.

We have no proof the the government's numbers are accurate.

The government may be inflating the numbers and the demand in order to get more funding.

Romney Operatives in Our Midst

I truly believe so. I understand not everyone likes Johnson and I'm not nearly as excited about him running as I was RP. However, there seems to be a lot of Johnson bashing and divisive posts at DP lately. Romney and the GOP are actively trying to remove Johnson from several ballots. It would not be beyond them to place a few goons on the DP to smear Johnson and divide the Liberty movement. Is Johnson going to win the election? No. Can the Libertarian party have an impact on the election? Yes. The Republicans have shunned the Liberty movement, but we can still remain somewhat relevant if the LP affects the outcome of the race.

the GOP is moving to deny ballot access

to Johnson in several states. that should tell you who it is they are afraid of now.

Truth, Justice and the American way.

I'm Writing In Ron Paul

No one but Paul...2016 here we come...

The system is rigged

I completely agree that Ron Paul is the best man for the job. However, we need to make sure we are informed of the election laws in your specific state. Many states do not count write-in votes and in almost every other state, a person has to "register as a write-in candidate". DOES ANYONE AROUND HERE KNOW IF RON PAUL HAS DONE THAT????

Before casting a write-in vote for Ron Paul, make sure it will be counted in your state. We cannot afford any of us to not be counted!!!!

I'm already working on 2016.

I'm already working on 2016. Ron Paul or Not At All.

And still resolving some

And still resolving some issues for 2012
