I Wonder

...what percentage of gun sales involve new, first-time buyers, and what percentage are the result of "hoarders" who just "have to have one more" to be really ready for the apocalypse?
That would be a great reality show, only they'd have trouble finding 'volunteers' willing to listen to some psychologist tell them they have a problem and they need to get rid of some of their guns. (Actually they'd likely have just as much trouble finding psychologists willing to participate as well).

If you buy a gun...

a NICS check is run first. The FBI databases all NICS runs. They will know you have a gun and will notify you to turn it in when the SHTF. If you don't turn it in...they will turn your residence upside-down looking for it. If you buy...try from the classifieds. Make sure to buy from a gun owner...not a dealer. Then...nobody will know that you have anything. This is VERY important. There will come a day when they will criminalize possession of firearms.

this is the kind of

this is the kind of information others and I need to know.. Obviously want to follow the law, but that would be nice to not have a knock on the door if SHTF...

I've seen in a documentary where a man walks up to one booth at a gun show (near Mexico border), got background checked and the whole 9 yards, walks to the table right beside it, cash is exchanged for a gun and nothing else.

Im a Pennsylvania resident, near Pittsburgh, do I need to apply for a license of any sorts before buying from classified, or a dealer, or whatnot?

Here you go RLGjr

It should be noted however that all transfers of handguns in Pennsylvania are required to go through the Pennsylvania Instant Check System (PICS) and as such the Pennsylvania State Police keep a "Sales Database" of all handguns purchased within the Commonwealth.

Claybridge, You are correct. There are absolutely contingency plans in place, & this is one of them. I have no doubt some day this will be happening.

One step I have taken is to start putting these under every windshield-wiper of every police car I see parked & handing them out to every beat cop I find. Your advice is good & should be heeded.

Click on the home page, I just wanted to show you that the Gun Owners of America are huge Dr. Paul supporters. : )

Find a local online gun forum. They'll be able to answer most of your questions about it.

what you need. are 3 weapons.

a large caliber handgun for the bedroom. a shotgun near the front door. and a rifle with a scope. this is for basic home defence.
and that is really all you need. I am going to add a 22 LR. it is a good varmit gun and ammo is cheap.
you will learn plenty along the way of just acquiring the basics.....

I'd want to see that chart in units, not dollars.

That, or it should be corrected for real inflation.

I bought

a saiga 7.62 and a Springfield XD40 and they have both gone up in value and will protect my home well should something go wrong.
