Update: Jim Uprichard Update and Chip-In (Motorcycle accident)

to someone in Daytona Beach who can hopefully go into the hospital and show them and your posts to Jim. We are hoping the pictures will spark some memories. He is having an amazing and remarkable recovery thanks to ALL of you. I have also sent them a video, the recent one showing Jim filming the handing of the nomination forms to the secretary at the RNC.

If you know of anyone available with an Ipad or Laptop in the area please email me. I think I have someone who will go in, but times are tough and she is about 25 minutes from him. We continue to see progress this morning. Jim is remembering more. Dick showed him a few family pictures I hastily gathered and and he was able to identify everyone in them.

I was able speak with Jim and ask him several questions. He is sounding much more today like the Jimmy we all know and love. I picked up on a little chuckle and sense of humor. I asked him about Dick being there and he said it was like being with a good old friend. He knows he went to the RNC but is not remembering too many of the details. I don't think he totally understands he was in a motorcycle accident or why is is in the hospital.

Jim's arm is tied to the bed to keep it immobile and he is definitely not happy about that. I picked up he is equating his circumstances right now to being in jail -- and he wants out!

I indicated we had been in contact with many of his wonderful friends and he was very happy to hear that. We will start to share some of your posts with him today.

"The hospital staff is very happy my brother Dick is there. There was some definite progress today. Dick took a break for an hour or two to go to the beach but he deserves that as he has a tough job. Dick's words: "I need to get Jimmy's brain working again."

Jim and Dick did lots of talking today. Jim can recall some things but not others. When Dick asked who he lived with he indicated an individual we know he lived with 40 years ago. He knows he lives in Reno and remembers living in Washington and Idaho but is unable to recall he also lived in Montana. They talked about lots of different people and again he knows some but not others. They actually exchanged a few words in German. It is news to me either one of them knew German!

All tubes have been removed except for the iv for pain medications. Jim is eating some very soft foods and with help is able to get to the bathroom. He kept asking Dick to help him sit up. However, when sitting the pain in his should/arm is intolerable.

Way to go Dick. We are rooting for both Jim and you!!

Anybody who thinks this is a scam, please feel free to call the Halifax Medical Center at 386-254-4000, and ask if there is a Jim Uprichard in one of the rooms.

He donated so much of his time and energy to Ron Paul's campaign. Jim has been like a pitbull in his determination to get Ron Paul elected doing it all the while big smile on his face, he just makes you want to smile too.

Jim had his first know visitor today. When they first arrived he was talking "like a pirate" just saying argh!

In the morning when asked his name he would say "yes sir" or asked any questions for that matter he would say "yes sir."

BUT, the good news is that when his visitors came back in the room. One asked him about liberty and Ron Paul and he responded with "yeah liberty and Ron Paul." When they went to leave he said, "okay Dick, thanks for coming." (BIG improvement because he new who his cousin was). He also said, "see you later brother." (that is the other NV Ron Paul delegate that was thankfully still in the area and that is what Jim called him)

Keep saying prayers because they are all working, he is moving in the right direction.

1. Jim is awake and breathing on his own.
2. He is not answering questions, he keeps giving the same answer to any questions, not following commands
3. His arm is looking good
4. Jim's heart rate and blood pressure are good
5. He cannot be on a feeding tube because of fractures in his face, but he is getting intravenous nutrition.

Found out that he has bone fractures in his face and that he has a neurologist that is very good with helping. He has swelling on his brain. His left humerus was broken and he had surgery on his left shoulder.

Pray for a miraculous healing!

I will probably have more information after 11a.m. tomorrow and will update some more.
