The Presidential Race is simply a huge distraction for the Liberty Movement

The presidential race is nothing more than a huge distraction at this point in the cycle. Obama or Romney will be the next president in a few short months. All the wasted talk about who to vote for is fairly pointless. The Liberty movement needs to stay grounded and working on what counts. State and local Liberty candidates that will be on the ballot in November should be front and center.

The Daily Paul could do a great service by having front page access of some sort for the Liberty Candidates (maybe searchable by state). I have only seen a few money bombs for these candidates and it seems like we could be doing so much more. I know I am willing to help liberty candidates from any state.

Conclusion: Is there a way for us to focus on these candidates through the Daily Paul? Maybe a candidates Tab? If not can does anyone have the ability and desire to start a Liberty Candidate site? Our grass roots are being wasted with only 2 short months before the elections.

You said it. Not much we can

You said it. Not much we can do here. Vote 3rd party. Write in Ron Paul. Do whatever you're gonna do. Try to have an impact, but it's better to focus on things we can actually have an effect on.

OH! and TTD4Ron,

State House in ND

Fully Agreed

Deciding to vote for Obama because we're upset at Romney is a *complete* waste of time. It's the same waste of time as voting for Romney to vote "anyone but Obama". If we actually want real change in this country, it is crucial that we think outside that box. Neither candidate will make this country a better place to live for the average citizen.

Art Robinson

Along this line, I hope anyone able will support Art Robinson, candidate for Congress from Oregon's Fourth Congressional District. He came very close to unseating a wildly progressive, career- politician scumbag in 2010, and has an excellent shot this year. Ron Paul endorsed him in both 2010 and this year, and the Good Doctor's endorsement is proudly featured in the number one spot one his website, http://www.artforcongress.com/. He's an amazing man and I hope you all will see fit to check him out and do whatever you can for his campaign.

My name is Mike Peterson, and I'm a liberty candidate for State House in North Dakota. I tried to maintain quite a presence on DailyPaul and sometimes I cannot help but feel discouraged that so many are focused on a sole race that's more or less dominated by people pulling strings behind the scenes and not enough on areas where we have far more influence and efficiency: local and state races.

I have a very real chance to win, but am in a scramble because I was called up late due to one of the candidates resigning as a result of medical issues.

I ran in the Republican primary, and most of my funding came from begging you guys on threads, which actually allowed me to out-raise my opponents.

But her I am, back again, asking for BIG help.

Here's my story and you can see the innumerable times I've "bumped" the thread just to constantly get attention.

I believe in limiting government, reducing state spending dramatically (it actually rivals the rate of spending with the federal government despite having such a monstrous surplus), and protecting life.

Please help if you can, I definitely need it to WIN.

Words Are Easy

I don't know your history but I do know that it's easy to tell people what they want to hear. I'm not saying that you aren't a legitimate liberty candidate but I just want to raise a red flag to people that they shouldn't just take people at their word. (though I'm sure they already know that).

and you're right. That's why

and you're right. That's why I expect people to do research before they commit. I've been endorsed by Liberty ND PAC, LibertyCandidates.org, and have the best survey answers out of any candidate in ND by the Campaign for Liberty, who are also helping this campaign.

Finally somebody has figured it out on here... Good for you...

we could also use a Liberty standard

like a scorecard or an index rating. There must be a standard of some kind that we can use to quickly measure up a candidate, because let's face it, we don't have the time to personally vet each candidate on our own.

BTW, I don't think this is something that can be done within 2 months, I'm looking past November with this suggestion.

Or just join C4L which has one

Agreed. We know that if Ron Paul were on the ticket we would wor

k very hard to get him elected. since there is nothing set in stone on this, we need to focus on liberty candidates. Great post.

Working on Oklahoma

We have a candidate RJ Harris going after the "establishment" Tom Cole for our 4th District Congressional seat as an independent. Then in the 2nd district the establishment was defeated in the primary by Markwayne Mullin, and from what I hear it's a shoe-in for the Republican.

Our state GOP chairman needs to be replaced, badly. He's a large part of the reason why our liberty delegates didn't get seated (remember the parking lot?!). I don't think it's as much ill intent as it is go along to get along.

I'm working on a conference with bloggers, independent journalists, and enthusiasts in the state prior to the election. Anyone interested feel free to send an email to conference@standardexcellence.net for details.

I agree, but take if further

I view the current situation as an advantage for liberty. However, we must be bright enough to seize the opportunity. Ron Paul was only one man. They can't take us all on and block each and every individual. Not every person is going to be a politico either. There are a great many niches out there that have yet to be tapped.

...make your plans and follow through with them, because opportunity is afoot.

Great idea!

I think this is a very valid and timely concern...

Our way from here should be to fight on all fronts. We should support those that have made it inside the system that have some track record of liberty. We should support those liberty candidates on the outside trying to get into the two party monopoly. We should also support alternatives like third, fourth, and fifth parties. Maybe we can produce a very viable third party...a libertarian/progressive type party....(I know many here hate the term progressive) but many progressives have similar values on abuse of war and civil liberties; we may be able to bring about a coalition (as Dr. Paul did) on these issues and the rest of the debate can be hashed out as we go along....but a united front against corruption would be a great start and we need numbers.

We have to go at these evil bastards from all angles.

If you vote a third party,

If you vote a third party, you can help them get automatic ballot access next time.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

candidates tab is

a great idea.
Here are 2 from South Carolina.
1. SC Sen. Tom Davis, seeking re-election to the state senate.
2. Deedee Vaughters, candidate SC Senate.

Dr. Mike Vasovski
South Carolina Campaign Chairman, Ron Paul 2012
The SINGLE vote in the SC delegation for RP, GOP Convention, Tampa, FL
2010 Candidate, US Congress SC-03
Past Chairman, Aiken, SC County Tea Party

The true power is in the message.

Spread it.

I try to change people every day. Do You?

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

Definitely a distraction and a dividing factor. Local Candidates is the way to go, and is there anything else we can do to gain further steps in the GOP?

The next time to worry about general elections is when the parties start selecting their candidates, I just want to know whether Ron Paul wants to run again, as he hinted in Jay Leno.

"Truth is Treason in an Empire that lies" - Ron Paul

Educate the masses, and win in the end.

Yes, you can do more in the GOP.

Delegates are good. Party OFFICES +Delegates are better.

People who still don't get that are whining there's nothing we can do because Maine (for example) "took over and we still got screwed".

Maine took DELEGATES. Delegates don't RUN the party. Party officers do.

So become one.

Do a lot of people

Do a lot of people think that they will be selecting the delegates in 2016? I thought that was only in the scenario of Mitt Obamney winning the Election(LOL!RNC lost when they failed to elect Ron Paul).

Not trying to be mean, but your response was kinda incoherent.

If you end up running the show because you end up running the party, then you end up submitting the delegate names.

If you're not, then you don't.

Simple as that.

I don't think it's a distraction, but I agree we need to

do more for our liberty candidates. I don't even know who they are except John Dennis who is in the trenches battling Pelosi, issuing debate challenges to which she doesn't respond. This could be made into a major embarrassment for her if people knew about it, but they don't. Not even here.
