Hackers Blackmail Romney, Demand $1 Million ‘Bitcoin’ in Ransom

September 7, 2012 (TSR) – Bitcoins are having their economic moment in the sun following an attempted shakedown of Mitt Romney.

On Wednesday night, an anonymous group of hackers announced they had obtained Mitt Romney’s tax returns from the office of PriceWaterhouseCooper. The group released a statement on the filing sharing website Pastebin.com saying they would return the tax forms if Romney would pay a ransom of $1 million in Bitcoins by September 28.

Doesn't this kind of remind

Doesn't this kind of remind us of the fact that bitcoin is no different than frns? (fiat). The creator probably made 5 extra keystrokes to create that 1,000,000 in exchange for the publicity.

Bitcoins

are directly backed by the continued actions of the computing power within the Bitcoin network. Unlike fiat currency, Bitcoin has no centralized issuing authority. The network is programmed to increase the money supply as a geometric series until the total number of bitcoins reaches 21 million BTC. 1 BTC exchanges at around $10. Taking into account the total number of Bitcoins mined, the monetary base of the Bitcoin network stands at over $97 million. so if you like the Internet and competing currencies Bitcoins ROCK!

Yea I would have to agree

Yea I would have to agree here, how do we know that the creator didnt leave a backdoor in that could create more money? The one thing against this though is that such manipulation would probably be really easy to spot this early on and would probably be more useful once the supply expands.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

you do realize

You do realize that question applies to the dollar and euro, accept the the dollar and euro is monopolized and controlled by Insane blood hungry Crazy people, bitcoins are not. We DO know whos behind bitcoins...Nobody. Its an open-source code for everyone =)

Well, it's a lose-lose for Mitt on this one:

He loses credibility if he pays the million or he loses credibility by not paying it and being exposed.

Of course there's the slim slim chance there's nothing wrong with them and they still get released but that's like saying that there's still a slim chance that Obama will end the wars, bring our troops home, reform Wall Street (for the better) and, on top of that, pay my gas and mortgage like the Obamazombies thought he would do...

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom — go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, an

Bah, take the million

And release them anyways...lol

But then again, if Romney's tax returns were released on the internet, the corporate owned news media would discredit them.

I saw in the democratic convention, Giffords spoke. Bah, I think that is all an act. I really think that whole incident with her was another staged event. Too many questions on that one...and of course...where is the surveilance footage?

Unreal the level of deceit, right in line with Hitler's big lies theory. Lies so big, people naturally have a hard time believing it not to be a lie; because nobody would lie that big.

Just as big of lies were those scripted speeches too.

So Gifford is an act...I

So Gifford is an act...I haven't gone down that road yet. Up is Down and Down is Up and I don't know what to believe anymore.

LOL I love this stuff

There must be really damaging info in them returns. Don't pay it Mitt we all want to see the real scum bag!

Gold standard: because man can not be trusted to control his greed

Let the bidding begin.

I will not release copies of Mitt Romney's tax returns for a mere $800,000 in bitcoins.

It was probably the pandas.
