Rachel Maddow Video: Presidential Election May Hinge on Virginia Candidate

If you live in Virginia and don't want Romney to win, Virgil Goode is your man. The GOP and Romney tried to prevent him from getting on the ballot, but he got on. They are now trying to remove him from it. Even if you don't like him, he is the key to Romney not winning in this battleground state.

I am not voting for a bigot...sorry.

I agree. That is one of the

I agree. That is one of the reasons I won't vote for Johnson. It would be like jumping out of the frying pan into the fire.

I've been told that you can't believe in liberty if you are a Christian, that being religious is a theocracy, that we have to lie about our history because it is too religious.

No - I won't vote for that bigot Johnson. Or that other one that has been doing alot of drugs and was banned from the Ron Paul rally - what's his name?

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

Good thing marxist athiests won't around way back then

It's a good thing alot of these atheists won't back during the time of our Pilgrim and Puritan forefathers, because our country wouldn't have existed then. And they would have started the mass murders, genocides, and purges against religion that didn't start until modern times with Russia, China, Vietnam socialist republics, North Korea, Cuba, etc etc.

Atheism has murdered more people in the last hundred years than anytime during history. Pat yourselves on the back comrades, and purge religion. But you can't.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

"mass murders, genocides, and purges against religion"?

that didn't start till modern times?

Goode upsets VA, Johnson upsets CO

Gov. Johnson is seeing between 7-9% in Colorado and trending upward. That hurts Willard. Maybe the State GOP should have treated the Paul delegates better. You have a problem Mr. Call.

Glad to see Mr. Goode is upsetting the apple cart in Virginia. I hope he has good lawyers.

"One resists the invasion of armies; one does not resist the invasion of ideas" Victor Hugo

You might want to take a look at the Colorado polling -

IIRC - at least one poll that I looked at showed Johnson taking more votes
from Obama than from Romney in CO.

That is not in keeping with the conventional wisdom (one of my favorite oxymorons)
that Libertarians will always take votes disproportionately from Republicans more
than from Democrats. One of the few other polls I found that included Johnson -
for Florida - had Johnson taking more from Romney..

GJ must of been getting some Democratic votes in New Mexico given that they
have something like a 2-1 advantage in registered voters. Otherwise, he'd never
have been elected there once, much less twice.

I'm planning to vote for Johnson, but as far as I'm concerned a vote for Green, Constitution
or Libertarian is way superior to a vote for Obamney (or sitting it out, or
writing in Dr. P, as far as that goes).

Two percent solution

I'm in Virginia too. If a combination of Johnson and Goode can get two percent in this highly contested swing state that might be enough to relegate Romney to the dustbin of history.

I support Johnson and generally think the Constitution Party is full of hyper religious nutjobs. However, Goode's former congressional district is in SW VA, not exactly Romney territory and Obama won't get much either except for Virginia Tech. Fertile ground for both Goode and Johnson. I doubt Romney will even campaign there.

Johnson has a more general appeal in the state to Ron Paul supporters and disaffected liberals. The VA LP is also well organized and statewide candidates usually get some votes. In VA, that could add up to a couple of points. Judge Gray is campaigning in SW VA in about 10 days and Gary will be there in October. Should be fun.

Thetis

My ancestors were living in SW Virginia

before there was a United States. Being and voting outside Virginia
I'm going with Gary Johnson, but I'd have to consider Goode if I
was in VA - partly just because it would be great to have a minor
party candidate manage a show of support that even the MSM couldn't
ignore (they'd try, though).

Somehow, seeing Goode win a few SW Virginia counties
would be really satisfying - kind of like when Dr. Paul won that
one Virginia CD in the primary.

If the total minor party support hit 5-10% *anywhere* it would rock, so you
can't go too wrong going Green, Constitution or LP as far as I can tell.

i'd rather vote for gary

i'd rather vote for gary johnson than an islamophobe with a 13th century mentality

Sorry for the duplicate post

I don't know why it posted twice.

Maddow wants the Obama win

That's why she will promote anybody that takes votes away from Romney - the ONLY person now with a chance to unseat 'Barry'.

I TRIED to get the LP to do 'the right thing' but their individual positions in Offices of that 'Party' were more important than a Ron Paul Presidency - now they want everyone to back Mr. 23% 'Fair Tax'...

pa-LEEZE...

When Judge Jim Grey announces his membership in FIJA and Mr. Johnson declares openly that his 'fair tax' was a political mistake, THEN I'll seriously consider a change in positions.

Until then, I'll continue down the road Dr. Paul set us on. I have begun to become Government, and have gone further in less that a year than others who have been Republicans all their lives! I don't make committments lightly, and the move to the GOP took a lot of thought and struggle. I am here until I have reason enough NOT to be here - and I see a lot of good that can be accomplished.

Starting with a change in the resident at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

With a 'President Romney', we will continue the 'battle' with words.

With another term of the not-so-closet COMMUNIST, the battle will be with a government that long ago got to the point where it is at the 'opposite ends for which it was created', and WILL be fought with the force of arms on American soil.

I, unlike Mr. Rockwell, do not wish such Civil Strife on The American People. We have not reached the 'tipping point' in the GOP after only four years of RP Supporters flooding into and taking positions in that Party. If the past influx can be maintained and even accelerated, Liberty Lovers of the Republic WILL be the 'dominant force' in American Politics, and the entire landscape can be 'terraformed' and 'provide new Guards for their future Security.'

One CANNOT speak 'Truth to Power' WITHOUT BEING IN THE ROOM.

Romney is the greatest

Romney is the greatest evil...

We do not know who would perform more evil

in office, Romney or Obama, only that both would perform very evil acts. Which is why we should adopt a "non-interventionist" policy and let God decide who lives and who dies (politically). Keep our hands clean and don't vote for either of them. That way, we can keep from doing evil ourselves.

Well, the "greater evil"...

..anyway.

Virginia Ballot

It was great news when they decided Virgil Goode would stay on the VA ballot. The christians who cannot bring themselves to vote for Libertarian Party now have an alternate choice in Goode. The non-christians who are sick of all the BS can vote for GJ. I am going to work my a$$ off here in Virginia to break up the R/D duopoly

I am a Christian

and I could never vote for a theocrat like Goode. How can one worship God freely without absolute religious liberty? Theocracy is not something Christians rightfully support. Theocracy is not "rule by God," it is rule by fallible human beings who are the most vocal in claiming to do God's work. Any ties between government and Christianity give Christianity a bad name.

Dual purpose

A vote for Gary Johnson or Virgil Goode is dual purpose. One, it puts Romney one vote closer to losing. Two, it shows everyone else that a growing number of people don't buy into the false dichotomy of red vs blue.

I'm in Virginia

and I do not plan on voting for Goode; however, it is a good thing that he was able to get ballot access. We were discussing this in my Political Science class lol. Anyway most likely my vote will be for Johnson, but he has to stop here and do some speeches. I want to ask him some of my own questions; which I hope would happen seeing how I volunteered for the LP.

Gary Johnson will probably

Gary Johnson will probably get more votes than Goode in Virginia. I am in Virginia too and i had never heard of Virgil Goode until I looked up who the Constitution party nominated. Goode might get some votes from his former district but that is about it.

If you're voting to take away

If you're voting to take away votes from others... you're voting for the same exact reason those that choose the lesser of two evils do... to keep the other one out.

You're stooping to becoming part of the problem.

Add in the fact that Goode and the constitution party are the EXACT OPPOSITE of libertarian. Their entire platform is about forcing their religious morals on you through law!

I'm not an atheist, but I can see how wrong this is EASILY!

A vote for Goode is the EXACT OPPOSITE of a vote for Paul and what he stands for.

As long as you vote third party in Virginia, I guess it doesn't

matter. It only matters to the vote flippers, because now they have TWO candidates they have to jack with. Just think how it will mess with them if there are 5 or 6 third party candidates on the ballot. I bet they will let candidates on the ballot if they are polling under 1%. Mitt does not want any other conservative on the ticket. Johnson doesn't piss him off as much as Goode does, even though it will most likely be Johnson taking away most of his votes.

Johnson pissed them off more.

Johnson pissed them off more. They tried getting Johnson off the ballot before anyone else and failed days ago.

It would be better if there was one candidate to break up the duopoly, not a 4th and 5th to split up the vote that would help a 3rd alone get into the debates and have a historic showing on the final vote.

It has nothing to do with Johnson

They are doing this in every state. The Libertarian party is larger so they go after them only because they perceive them as taking away more votes from the Mittwit. They got Goode off the ballot in PA with no fight at all only because the Constitution party did not have the means to fight back. I encouraged everyone in our meetup groups to help out in PA regardless of what they thought of Johnson or anyone else because this issue is bigger than any one third party candidate. PA ballot access is horrible. So far Johnson is still on and I do expect him to stay on.

Johnson isn't running as a conservative

He's Libertarian and Mitt can say, "well, the people would rather have a Libertarian". It's more about a particular party.
If another "conservative" takes away lots of his votes, it means that he is pitiful and weak and the people don't like him. It's personal.

naw you got it all wrong

The idea is to convince others to vote for goode, not to convince paul supporters to, but those crazies religious folk right?
