No appreciation for the tech??

Sure, our tax dollars shouldn't be behind this, but c'mon! This is pretty neat stuff!

It is described as "squad support" but demonstrates no actual support functions - it is clearly a technology demonstrator, not a useful machine to be deployed. So never mind about what it can't do yet, or its obvious military vulnerabilities. (And the OP description "track people" is certainly overstating its "follow somebody" capability)

Multi-legged walkers have been tricky development challenges for some time. This is a pretty impressive little walker. I like the way its feet are planted pretty close to in-line with each other, rather than spread out for stability. And it looks like it is making some quick balance adjustments when it stumbles or slips a bit. Very animal-imitating. But it has back legs on both ends, so it can go either direction pretty well.

Private, commercial (in other words, supportable by liberty proponents) application:
A while ago I saw an interesting application for big walkers in the forestry industry, trying to selectively harvest trees in swampy/marshy/soft terrain. A walker could penetrate deep in the woods and leave much less destruction as it went. Faster and cheaper to get in position, and better for the property owner too. The problem was that walking machines aren't very good walkers. Maybe hardwoods are going to eventually be cheaper, thanks to DARPA?

I'm voting for Peace.

You Are

As Usual

Robot beast

LOL Anyone else recall the ewoks bringing down the lumbering robot beasts with a well-placed wire across their path?

That's Really Funny

Laughed my head off at your comment. It may actually come to that though.

skippy

Can it pull a plow and a milk cart?

Yee-haw!! Giddy up!!

Don't worry

One day this engineering will be put to some constructive purpose.

Don't forget, war brought us computers too.

What a bunch of garbage..These people are so laughable..

What a Piece of...

Junk!

DARPA: She'll make point-five days past a tricycle kid. She may not look like a horse, but she's got it where it counts. We've made a lot of special modifications to make it look extra assey.

Life imitates art

Politicians use Orwell's '1984' as a playbook for how to run government and now the govt is using the Terminator movie as a guide on how to conduct war.

what a piece

of crap, that has got to be the biggest waste of money I have seen in a while.

I'll bet it could be

I'll bet it could be programmed to move fast on smooth ground. Looks like a terminator program in it's infancy to me.

THAT is EXACTLY What it is.

Read it on infowars. This piece of junk is just one of the many robots they are developing to track us down. Some are weaponized and one can run over 28 mph.

skippy

now there is no hope

(sarcasm alert)

DARPA and the Techno-Dictatorship are now all-powerful! We all must kneel before this robotic beast before it is too late and our impudence is not forgiven by the all-powerful (and glorious) state. The future is lost unless we surrender to live as serf-lap-dogs.

(end sarcasm)

#### ### and the robot/drone you road in on!

This is government funded? If yes, oh no!!
If no, what a remarkable feat in science.

Coming up next...

If you're really slow, you

If you're really slow, you won't be able to get away... and if you're deaf, you might not hear it coming.

Do you mean 5.56?

And if I saw that thing running towards me I would be too busy crapping my pants to get a shot off...

Can we find some OTHER way of spending money!!

I saw the 4 legged creature & the other link of the airborne machine.

....like people wouldn't hear these things coming & blow them apart?

This is really disgusting, because all the EVIL EMPIRE is doing is spending taxpayer's monies, or printing more & more from the FED, to continue these STUPID, SENSELESS OCCUPATIONS.

We know some G.I. Joe's, and they KNOW THE TRUTH about these senseless, idiotic missions of destruction all to benefit the elites and their minion contractors!

7.62x51mm

This is why I prefer 7.62x51 Nato round semi auto rifles to 5.56 variants.

5.56 bimetal will

Wolf 5.56 FMJ military classic, a "cheap" ammunition will blow a whole right through 1/4 steel bigger and cleaner than the SS109 or M855 LAP green tips at 100yrds. I think they would stop this dog in its tracks. To bad every supplier is OUT OF STOCK. Glad I stocked up.

I plan on trying the Federal American Eagle tracers on the 1/4 plate also since I found that they will go right through a 20" diameter pine tree. If it penetrates like the bimetals then not only will I stop this dog but I will set it on fire as well. They are bimetal also with the tracer core but they are 64 grain as opposed to the 55 grain FMJs.

Man

That thing is creepy.

"Once you become knowledgeable, you have an obligation to do something about it."- Ron Paul

.

LOL

thing looks stupid.

That thing is loud,

and has 8 visible hydraulic lines. 1 pair of $5 side cutters and that thing is going down. There's $millions down the drain.

How do you

milk it? Seriously, unless that thing is running on a plutonium battery it isn't going to last long... although if it has a plutonium battery it could run around like that for 70 years non-stop until it breaks. Need to build one that can repair itself, then you've got something.
