Gas?

Sounds gas powered to me unless that is just the hydralic motor that we gear.

Nice toy

Let's see it go through water or a barbed wire fence or mud. How does it hold up to AP ammunition? How long does it run before it exhausts its fuel? It may be able to track someone but as loud as it is it damn sure won't sneak up on them.

I give it a C for the cool factor but an F for practicality.

Teach it to buck and run

and we could start a new mechanical rodeo.

Even with all the potential for misuse, this stuff is still cool.

My son has said he wants to be a robotics engineer when he grows up. He'd love designing robots like this!

Makes sense. They claim drone attacks aren't considered acts of war, so it makes sense that a robot war wouldn't be considered an act of war either. As long as attacks are done by remote control or a honing device then its ok right?

it certainly worth

urinating on, from where I sit. Lookin forward to it !

there's one that jumps like 50 feet..

..I think its called the flea. I could use one these watchdogs. Save money on kibble and noise complaint fines.

I'm pretty sure if the GOP put it on the ballot . . .

it would probably sweep through the 2016 primaries.

this is incredibly impressive.

And it freakin scares me.

When running from it, find a

When running from it, find a small cliff/steep drop, hang from cliff/drop, watch robot walk off edge to death.

serious as this might be...

doesn't it look like a decent kick would just topple it over and it would lay there waving the legs? I wonder if it can right itself? very creepy.

A video of a similar model.

A video of a similar model. See 0:35 for how it reacts to a kick and 1:25 for how it reacts to stepping on ice.... It's impressive. And scary.

Look at it roll

@ 1:07 you see that it uses the shape of its sides to turn over. the center of mass is low and the curve allows it to roll back onto its "belly" i suppose you could say. as with anything i bet you could get it stuck on its back in a mud hole or something like that. I was under the impression the machine was supposed to be able to run like a cheetah. Its pretty cool stuff. like drones we would have the ability to fight wars with less losses. but as with drones guns and other machinery the fear is it wont be used for good but evil.

yep..

you should have seen my eyes when it folded its legs up and rolled over then stood up... that's when I said uh oh... but still notice how much it has to be attached to supports and wires etc... gulp.. I have to say I question the morality of people who work on stuff like this.. they can't believe it's for humanitarian purposes.

Fahrenheit 451 anyone?

Anyone recall the "Hound" in this book?

Exactly

That was the first though that came to my mind when I saw it.

Yes! I've been re-reading a lot of the

classic dystopian and antiwar novels. It was all warned by visionaries, and mostly ignored by the so-called "intellectuals" who apparently read them merely as light entertainment similar to horror fiction.

They read them as

training manuals

That is really creepy.

Can you imagine hiking one day and one of those things comes out of the brush? My first instinct would be to star throwing rocks at it.

aint shit...

even with a machine gun, a grenade launcher, and numb chucks ill take it that down with one of those rocks at :20

NO cost-justification

but then, that shouldn't surprise me, when it comes to government bureaucratic waste!

With all the whining and crying and moaning about the "economy", you would think that this item would be the LAST thing they would spend our money on.

No one asks us either! It's disgusting...all of it.

My family had a dog that could do everything that robot could do

We probably paid $3000 dollars for her over 10 years.

Ah Yes!

One of the many reasons the country is $16,021,052,000 in debt and running a $1,179,200 deficit.

Preparation through education is less costly than learning through tragedy

For the record

That's $16,021,053,000,000 and $1,179,200,000,000

bwhahahahahaha

that made me laugh for a few min. nice.
