Federal Judge Rules Against NDAA

Today, Judge Forrest permanently enjoined (prevented) enforcement of a portion of the National Defense Authorization Act, stating that the law “impermissibly impinges on guaranteed First Amendment rights and lacks sufficient definitional structure and protections to meet the requirements of due process.”

The NDAA is a federal law signed into law by President Obama on December 31, 2011 that authorizes the government to detain persons–without charge or trial–including U.S. citizens, who “substantially support” Al-Qaeda, the Taliban or their “associated forces.”

Across the country, Ron Paul supporters deserve the credit for keeping this issue alive within the public sphere. Have you ever heard CNN report on this issue?

BUMP for good news

Now let's see if the government follows the ruling. Things are just too strange out there.

Judge's ruling against the NDAA.

It rang a bell and, sure enough, a story was reported in May that Judge Forrest ruled against a portion of the NDAA - but that was a "temporary injunction." It appears that now it's "permanent." Doing a google search for last 24 hours, I haven't noticed any in the msm reporting this. It looks to me like mostly left-wing sites.

It's crazy how the MSM won't cover this.

It's up to us to post this story all over the place.

The NY Times did report it. I missed that.

But as far as I can tell, not the Washington Post or L.A.Times, nor the three networks, nor the cable news programs. Guess they're waiting to get their instructions on what to say about it.

"The ruling came as the House voted to extend for five years a different statute, the FISA Amendments Act, that expanded the government’s power to conduct surveillance without warrants. Together, the developments made clear that the debate over the balance between national security and civil liberties is still unfolding 11 years after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11."

It won't be long before he joins Judge Roll

The government now kills its judges when they don't play ball..Sorry to say that, but Judge roll was mudered by a nut job set up first to kill him..gabby was just collateral damage, in my opinion..

However, i do applaud this judge for following the laww...Kudos Judge!

Wow! A Judge that follows the law.

Very rare these days.

I'm really impressed with the Constitutional lawyer Blake Filippi in the second clip. Not only was he articulate, but he had great charisma, somewhat like Peter Schiff. I can see this guy going far in media, like Glenn Greenwald, or as a pundit, or even running for office.

Fantastic news!

Finally a judge enforcing the law of the land.

My prediction for how the

My prediction for how the supreme court rules on this:

1. Interpret(rewrite) the statute to not apply to US Citizens
2. Dismiss for lack of standing and adopt Government's position that these issues must be addressed under habeas review.

Wow!

A judge did the right think. Is that a first?

So, all of us crackpots here at the daily paul know what we are talking about after all.

About time :D

Given how things usually work I suspect they will try to overturn this soon. Can someone break down what this ruling means in layman's terms. What actually happened? What changed? Is the whole NDDA scrapped or just that section? Can this ruling actually be overturned or is it really permanent? If so WOOOO!!!! If not how do we keep the pressure on?

It means our Congress hates us for our rights.

And they are unconcerned about their treason.
