Tom Woods clears the air on Jesse Benton

Tom Woods: Ron Paul campaign chairman Jesse Benton is going to head up the campaign of Mitch McConnell. Gee, now why did those incorrigible naysayers have so many unkind words for him?

People who said Benton was positioning himself all along for bigger things in the GOP were scoffed at. Why, Jesse has a secret plan to get Ron Paul the nomination at the last minute!

Well, now we know the real secret plan.

Ask yourself this: how much money would you have to be paid to work for an enemy of the things you’re supposed to stand for? Maybe now people will understand why Jesse would fly into a tirade after some of Ron’s most heroic moments, when the rest of us were cheering.

I could go through a lengthy catalogue of problems with Benton. The grassroots folks already know a lot of them, so there’s probably no need. What’s done is done.

Not that the world revolves around me, but just a word about how I was treated.

Dr. Woods put out a video a

Dr. Woods put out a video a few months ago that he later took down in the same day calling out John Tate and a few other folks in C4L for moving away from Dr. Paul's foreign policy positions. I'd say given that Tate is whom Dr. Woods is referring to now.

As for Doug Wead, he isn't perfect, but when you look into his eyes, you can see a flaming bush of liberty burning inside. He is a legit convert who is still finding his way at times. I am very happy he is on our team. He is an incredibly smart individual with amazing writ.

I'm also concerned that sometimes we want a 100 percent Ron Paul purity test. If you don't agree with Dr. Paul on every single issue, then you are the enemy or an idiot. If we take this approach, we will no doubt lose. Folks like Doug are going to find themselves coming our way and won't be perfect, but they add to our movement, add to our numbers and make us a bigger force. I myself don't agree with Dr. Paul on every single issue. I agree on 90 percent.

We need to trust our message - it's the supreme message from the Creator - and go about our missionary work. This, after all, has been Dr. Paul's top priority, to spread the message.

God bless liberty and each and every one of us who fight for her.

Going after Tom Woods...

Was the last straw for me. I quit after that garbage. Tom Woods has been the conscience of the RP grassroots movement, and they were threatened by him, and everybody else in the grassroots, hence the purges, and selling access to Paul through Benton. Thank God all that is over now, and people can regroup and fight for liberty for ALL instead of privileges for those who can compromise to fit the corrupt party dynamic, on the backs of everybody else. There may not be any "bodies" left behind, but they did leave behind a lot of now dead, that they killed off or drove off from this movement...

Benton could be a dick, but I

Benton could be a dick, but I guarantee Ron Paul approved this personally. Or at least gave his opinion. I bet McConnell is trying to purge his soul of his sins similar to.. DOUG WEAD.

So Jesse was as big a crapbag

So Jesse was as big a crapbag as everyone said he was, huh? There was no "big lie" smearing Benton, because it was all true!

Well, that overpaid SOB was Ron's problem to deal with and he failed to do so. That right there proves to me that Ron did not want, or care about the presidency. He got swept up in a movement and tried to use the momentum to spread ideas (the positive part of all this), meanwhile Benton was laying land mines everywhere Ron went.

Benton should never work again for what he did. Unfortunately, he reportedly got a half million salary while running Ron's campaign into the ground.

I don't agree that this proves that Ron did not want, or care

about the presidency. Go back and look at his announcement for Pres. in New Hampshire, and look at his speech after he came in a very close 2nd in the New Hampshire Primary. Those are not the speeches of one who doesn't care about it.

I so wish Wead and Woods

I so wish Wead and Woods would join up with Gary Johnson to improve on his campaign. I think now more than ever we need to show that the liberty movement is not tied to one particular party or even a particular candidate and just plain out endorse who you want to endorse. I read the recent article about C4L and it is depressing that the pillars that were put up in order to carry our movement forward are faltering in this way. It seems that most of it has to do with the same type of corruption that has taken over the Republican party and also State and Federal politics. The only cure I can think of is really eternal vigilance and that for me means refusing the status-quo at every turn. Not everybody feels Gary Johnson is the one to carry the torch but then I say who is? I agree with recent sentiment that we should all respect each of our rights to make their our own decisions about who to endorse and just try to stay true to ourselves when assessing whether a candidate truly has our individual liberties first in mind when in office.

Tom Woods is a multi-

New York Times best selling author and a Columbia PhD. Who the F ck is Jesse Benton?

LOL... don't care for the F

LOL... don't care for the F word but, sometimes is just fits...

So Benton is the greatest

So Benton is the greatest grassroots organizer of all time? I say we prove them right... Hold money bombs, campaign, for anyone running against whomever Benton works for... We could see to it this is his last campaign job. Benton... You better stay away from me and my family...

The Money Bomb that bombed

Yes, I would love to see Jesse "organize" Mitch's first money bomb. I look forward to having a good laugh when they spam my inbox with it.

The I think we should sue

The I think we should sue Benton and Why thread:

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

No paid relatives Paul - it's called NEPOTISM

Ron should not have had paid relative Benton on his payroll. He could have had as many volunteer relatives as he wanted but NOT PAID.

Paul's actions seem not much better than a corrupt politican. The difference is that his supporters got screwed voluntarily - no force involved.

To Benton: Give the money back - NOW!

Fuck Benton

What a job he did on that Paul family and tarnished Ron's legacy. Ron Paul either knew all along or was blindly co oped within by that Wiesel. I don't think Ron will ever come out clear about this, it's been so long already. I know he knows, that we know, how disturbing the whole process was and how the campaign played it near the end was shady. If he doesn't come out already, Ron is really not the man i thought he was all along. On the other hand, Tom Woods always kept it humble, clear and no funny talk when addressing anyone in the liberty movement. {!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!}

"you're a funny dude, but who gives a fuck about that? I don't care about someone's wit, I care about the courage of their heart and the honesty of their mind."

Ron Paul

I do not see the list

of actual complaints against JB as Tom Woods conveniently decided not to mention any concrete facts (oh, it is well known.) Nope, it is not well known. It is just empty rant of sour losers as far as I see.

Re: I do not see the list

Huh? Did you read everything by clicking on the link at the bottom that goes to his blog? He lays it all out.

And my Ron Paul vs. Lincoln video:

take note of the Bentonites

take note of the Bentonites

Funny you used the term "Bentonite"...

Bentonite is a clay that absorbs many times it weight... in fact, from Wiki:

"Similar uses include making slurry walls, ... , and forming other impermeable barriers, e.g., ... It is also used to form a barrier around newly planted trees to constrain root growth so as to prevent damage to nearby..."

So Bentonite is the impermeable barrier between the grassroots and what the grassroots folks are striving toward, i.e. Ron Paul...

'Cause there's a monster on the loose

Bentonitis is a debilitating infection of grassroots.

No way, you're still

No way, you're still defending Benton? So many people were signaling what was going on, earlier this year. Even I sensed something was up but I went along for the sake of spreading liberty, and having hope Ron would handle it or it not being as bad as everyone say's it is. It was fucking outrageous.. Joining McConnel, dissing the liberty movement, taking our cash, kissing the gop's ass...i mean, what else do you need?

"you're a funny dude, but who gives a fuck about that? I don't care about someone's wit, I care about the courage of their heart and the honesty of their mind."

Tom, I always had it in the

Tom, I always had it in the back of my head that the conspiracies about Jesse were true. I didn't want to believe it but come on people. Would you really think the GOP would idly and let Ron Paul get away with trying to take over the GOP?

Look at all the cheating they did, it's pretty clear Benton was a snake in the beginning only working for himself and whatever "deals" he could make with the GOP. Why did the campaign even let the RNC put a video that focused on only topics they liked and nothing else? Why did the campaign agree to take half of duly elected delegates making chances harder to nominate Paul on the floor?

My friends, we've all been had. It's time to stop thinking just about the GOP, and ONLY supporting those who follow strict liberty ideals, regardless of party, religion, and moral politics.

you speak like a child

(like most young people here, graduates of progressive schools.)

Why did the campaign do this or did not do that is similar to the question - why Benton did not go on FOX and MSNBC to educate the public about wisdom of RP. Well, simple, without an invitation, you cannot just come to the media. Without accepting a compromise, RNC would not even invite RP campaign for a meeting or a telephone call. Confrontation was futile since RNC was able to change rules on the spot.

I said nothing about Jessie

I said nothing about Jessie benton speaking to the media.. And it's pretty clear he did since he's the campaign manager?

Also, confrontation at the RNC was futile? Wasn't that the plan all along? Go against the establishment, get Ron Paul as many delegates as he could, and fight for a nomination and platform at the RNC. Clear mission, however we made deals to cut some of the plurality short in some states.

Who made those deals? Who said "Paul not looking to seak nomination from floor? It's pretty clear this guy is bad news, and made some pretty stupid decisions for Ron Paul.

Benton is a loser, working now for Mitch "Neocon" Mcconnel, he votes for everything we pretty much despise in the liberty movement.

I don't really know what there's left to defend here friend, Jesse is an utter failure.

We have no idea how these guys vote.

They are paid political hacks. History shows that principles are only needed if you get caught.

Free includes debt-free!

How can so many of the people below

give Benton the benefit of the doubt when he is going to work for McConnell? Benton was always trying to be sooo GOPish. He is a big douche bag, period. It doesn't really matter what Ron's stance was in all of this. That wouldn't change the fact that Benton is a complete snake.

They're idiot

groupthinkers and sycophants.

We had EXPECTATIONS...we were let down, but

It is a real tragedy, and I feel very sad for Carol & Ron. Just think what the reality of all this is feeling right now to them! I can't even imagine! And, what about their granddaughter who married him. She must be feeling really bad, too. I hope things will get better for you all eventually. I think they will. But~~

Leaving the Tampa Convention behind when you did, well, and now hearing the truth of this, what person can't extend their thoughts towards you both! We all still love & support you, no matter what. I choose to believe the best, when it comes to you Dr. Paul. You are good people. Sometimes life isn't perfect, and Satan certainly can be swallowing up the best of people around you. But, it is a tragedy, because I think we all as a group could have made more inroads than what actually occurred.

Still, we probably wouldn't have beaten the RINOS. Why? Because their power is too pervasive, too all consuming, too powerful to fight in the end. But, we woke a LOT of Americans up. WE all here were Americans FIRST, and Ron Paul "supporters" second.

I have no regrets. What goes around comes around, and Mr. Benton will suffer those consequences quite naturally on his own some day!
