Tom Woods clears the air on Jesse Benton

Tom Woods: Ron Paul campaign chairman Jesse Benton is going to head up the campaign of Mitch McConnell. Gee, now why did those incorrigible naysayers have so many unkind words for him?

People who said Benton was positioning himself all along for bigger things in the GOP were scoffed at. Why, Jesse has a secret plan to get Ron Paul the nomination at the last minute!

Well, now we know the real secret plan.

Ask yourself this: how much money would you have to be paid to work for an enemy of the things you’re supposed to stand for? Maybe now people will understand why Jesse would fly into a tirade after some of Ron’s most heroic moments, when the rest of us were cheering.

I could go through a lengthy catalogue of problems with Benton. The grassroots folks already know a lot of them, so there’s probably no need. What’s done is done.

Not that the world revolves around me, but just a word about how I was treated.

I like Tom Woods

But he was clearly paying back to ease his personal resentment.

Tom Woods expected a prominent role in the RP campaign, but was not allowed to join.

There were only two mistakes by J. Benton in 2012.

1) Many folks who donated and voted for RP in 2008 have decided not to participate in GOP any longer.

2) We simply did not have votes. Voting stations were virtually empty in April-June.

Damn, Jessy, why did you scare voters off!

What really made many RP supporters MAD

is the fact that they were buying as facts everything youtube had to offer - from "true_delegates_number" website to cheerful chirping of TMOT, Ben Swann, Matt Lasren and others.

The reality on the ground had struck them as a dumb bell. Many are still in denial, a scapegoat is needed.

Sung to the tune of "To Sir With Love"..

...But in my mind, the time for biting tongues must end.......

Wha? .....hey....who stole my country?

Much respect to you Tom!

Your an honorable man Mr. Woods. Not seeking to gain for yourself but doing the right thing because it is right!! Not only does that give you peace of mind, but in the end it will come back to you...and people are searching like crazy for leaders like that..men of character and integrity! That is what we want..leaders to do the right thing, follow the Constitution and not worry about themselves.

Fear knocked on my door and Faith answered!

Sorry to say that, but

Sorry to say that, but I have a feeling, that our beloved Ron Paul knew about what is going on and it was his long term plan all along.
I guess Gerald Celente was right that Ron Paul has not enough "fire in the belly" to go for the biggest prize. He was just satisfied with opening eyes to as many as possible.

Ron threw Jesse under the bus

to save his own hide. He's letting Jesse take all the heat. But who was the director in chief of the campaign? Jesse? Or Ron?

I dont attempt to blame Ron

I dont attempt to blame Ron Paul. He has his big chunk of fights behind him. He is done more than any of us, even younger and aware now, will ever do. That is just my final thoughts of this campaign.
I believe Tom more than Jesse. If Tom was treated the way he describes in the piece, Jesse gets very low score for keeping the movement together. I wonder , if he a liberty lover at all, or just caqreer driven.

To bad he didn't really

throw him under an actual bus.

.ouch

ouch

Liberty Defined

The gauntlet has been thrown down...

Do we want pure constitutional liberty, untarnished by corruption, pure Ron Paul-JudgeNap-Woodsianism?

OR

Bentonrandism? Pretend Sarah palinarmeymcconnellism disguised as liberty?

THE CHOICE IS CLEAR.

I would assume that other "top person"

that Tom mentions is John Tate. Who else could it be?

Unless it was Ron Paul himself! Maybe Tom is still protecting Dr. Paul?

After further thought

Maybe it really was Ron Paul. He's throwing Jesse under the bus - letting him take all the heat for his own strategic shortcomings.

I know some people here will refuse to even consider it. Others, with a more flexible mind, who realize that Ron Paul is a mere human - as fallible as the rest of us - may see what I'm thinking. I don't know whether it is true or not - simply an idea at this stage.

I still feel that the full story has yet to be told.

Re: After further thought

In the video at this link, Gary Franchi, who founded the RevolutionPAC along with Tom Woods, states that Benton and Tate worked to undermine the efforts of the RevolutionPAC.

Yeah Tom!

Fuck that guy.

I have never made but one prayer to God, a very short one: "O Lord make my enemies ridiculous." And God granted it.

Wow.

Tom Woods, you have my highest respect. Thank you.

Oh, the "what ifs".

But...onward, patriots! We have work to do!

...at one point I was hoping for a DEBATE;

...between Tom Woods and David Barton of Wallbuilders; but now, seeing that everyone is "wearing their (patriotic) hearts on their sleeves", I call for an ALLIANCE of these two men in continuing the education of our great founding wisdom, determination, and courage to as many as would come from our camp, and the neo-con Tea Party camp(not happy with Romney)...

This movement lives; and it is about CHARACTER in public office; and, as Ron Paul said; "adding virtue and excellence" wherever we can.

All the dirty politics and games played is OVER; like Tom said, what's done is done...education is still our primary laudable/lauded attribute as a movement...Glenn Beck was going down this road, and when they realized he was sending people into the Ron Paul camp as they were embracing our history of Statesmanship, they took him off TV(just like the judge).

Back when I saw David Barton on Huckabee and Beck, I thought he was in it for the GOP above all else; but I haven't seen/heard much of him lately on any right-wing media - so - perhaps he understands Ron Paul, the Statesman, the embodiment of the General Principles of Christianity and virtue our founders exhibited while in pulic office, got SHAFTED for NO GOOD REASON!

What we've lost this election was the opportunity to have the HOT LIGHTS that shape so much public opinion shining on TRUE Statemanship in the Oval Office. I hope the people will RISE UP and demand our values of old be restored!

barton is snake oil sales man

He wont debate anyone.

Now I understand

I read the piece Tom refer to at the time and though it to be valid and with many good points and constructive opinions and advise. I have followed him and Ron Paul for years and found it peculiar that Tom was not more directly involved in Ron's campaign. And here we have the answer, Benton the Gate Keeper. Sad to see ambition corrupting ideas. But guess that it is alll about.
Now - was Ron asleep? He must have noticed what was going on. Why he did not do anything about this?
A legitimate question I'd like to see an answer to.

Yes, Benton was the Gatekeeper. He whispers in Ron's

ear that every thing is alright while screwing us over under cover. The reason he didn't go back to Campaign for Liberty was of the blowback and they aren't receiving the donations. I wonder if Tate is going back as well.

To be honest the only thing

To be honest the only thing that surprises me is that Tom W remained silent. Well this explains why Jesse was wearing a vest at the RNC. I hope Ron knocks his ass out at a family picnic some day....just saying :)

sale outs.

Sale outs" do not vote for one republican now or in 2016 no Rand no Amash none of these sale outs.

Well

I'll let your word choice describe how great of an idea that is.

I love Tom Woods.

I love Tom Woods. He is awesome in everyway.

I know several people, including myself, who were treated like Tom. While I am sympathetic to Jesse's long-term strategy, there were egreious mistakes made on all levels plus unneccesary animosity and conflict caused.

Long-term change is impossible without short-term success and a lot of that success was squandered by people like Jesse and Lew Moore (in 2008).

I had a lot of problems with the campaign, from being removed from a delegate slate without telling me because they thought I might move, to having national staffers seize control of a Ron Paul office that I co-ran in a major city right prior to the caucus.

Later after I met Jesse and heard him speak, I was impressed. I trust Ron Paul so I still trust Jesse.

My problem is how he treated people. I also met Kokesh when I met Jesse and I thought he was great. I like the radicals, so in the future I hope for more Adam Kokesh-types but we still need a few Jesse Bentons and Rand Pauls working from within the system.

The outspoken ones are important as they draw the true contrast and remind us that ultimately the answer is ending the establishment's corrupt systems and institutions, not reforming them.

I do think it is inappropriate to call Jesse a traitor considering Mitch McConnell is effectively Rand Paul's mentor in the Senate and that at some point Jesse Benton et al (I'm assuming Ron Paul too) decided Ron could not win and we should take the Liberty Movement to the Establishment.

I agree with this strategy and I hope one day in the future Jesse Benton does something crazy dramatic/bold in the fight for liberty.

Wherever he goes, however far they reach, may they burn the place to the ground when they get there. :))

We tried to get rid of Benton Early on

in the campaign but our words went in one ear and out the other. I think Tate who was not as vocal shares in the problem and I am not sure whether I trust Doug Wead either. He kept saying we can not win for the last few months. I hope that is not the case Doug seems like a nice guy but I have reservations. He would not listen to us.

I was thinking.

When did they find out that they had been had?

We can't win would be one reply.

Free includes debt-free!

Money Bomb Refund

"Benton's total income from the Ron Paul Presidential Campaign and PACs, in the 2012 election cycle, is at least $586,616, EPJ has learned."

http://www.economicpolicyjournal.com/2012/05/jesse-bentons-5...

I'm unemployed..... I wonder if I can get a refund on some of those money bomb contributions I made.

Been tried - the response from Ron's

campaign is 'F.O.'. It seems the grassroots supporters don't deserve a dime back, but Benton and Tate deserve hundreds of thousands for what they did for the campaign. Go figure.

I love Ron

but I have to say I hold him accountable for some of this BS. People got bilked pretty hard in this charade.

I have to admit I was surprised reading this account.

A dull-witted, puerile nimrod like Benton isn't fit to wipe Tom Woods' shoes.

I thought Benton was merely laughing all the way to the bank at our expense. Apparently he took his status as one of being The. Boss., and he was willing to chastise, excommunicate, and ban a noted author--and pillar of the movement--for (rightfully) suggesting the campaign pitch an "A" game in 2012, and possibly have a few "personnel changes."

Of course, Benton may have read "personnel changes" as a threat to his personal management style, and presumed Divinity.
