Tom Woods clears the air on Jesse Benton

Tom Woods: Ron Paul campaign chairman Jesse Benton is going to head up the campaign of Mitch McConnell. Gee, now why did those incorrigible naysayers have so many unkind words for him?

People who said Benton was positioning himself all along for bigger things in the GOP were scoffed at. Why, Jesse has a secret plan to get Ron Paul the nomination at the last minute!

Well, now we know the real secret plan.

Ask yourself this: how much money would you have to be paid to work for an enemy of the things you’re supposed to stand for? Maybe now people will understand why Jesse would fly into a tirade after some of Ron’s most heroic moments, when the rest of us were cheering.

I could go through a lengthy catalogue of problems with Benton. The grassroots folks already know a lot of them, so there’s probably no need. What’s done is done.

Not that the world revolves around me, but just a word about how I was treated.

Benton is a prime example of the phrase

"Don't mix family and business."

It causes you to be biased more towards emotions/feelings rather than rational/logic because there's strings attached.

Excellent

take it to 'um Mr. Woods! We got your back!

Jesse Benton

Always did despise the grassroots. Now we know the rest of the story. (Or maybe just the tip of the iceberg!)

When the American spirit was in its youth, the language of America was different: Liberty, sir, was the primary object. - Patrick Henry

30 Pieces of Silver

The price of betrayal.

THANK YOU

TW is the best! No one is perfect, and we can't expect everyone around Ron Paul to be the amazing Statesman / founding father that he is, but the Benton fiasco was very annoying. Thanks Tom for speaking out... look at actions, not words... KEEP LIBERTY ALIVE !!!!

We need to be the decisive factor on either side of the aisle if a liberty-minded candidate appears... and EDUCATE EDUCATE EDUCATE as the great Dr. said.

We should let Rand know we won't donate any money to him if he

hires Benton....for Senate or President.

haha

check out the wikipedia entry for mitch mcconnel:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitch_McConnell

Addison Mitchell "Mitch" McConnell, Jr.is a scumbag and should be treated as such. He is dirt and a disgrace to the human race. (born February 20, 1942) is the senior United States Senator from Kentucky. A member of the Republican Party, he is the Minority Leader of the Senate.[2] He is the longest serving U.S. Senator in Kentucky history.[3]

[EDIT: Looks like someone "fixed" it]

Nice Fix...

Hard to imagine a bigger hand wringer than Bob Dole or Trent Lott, but MITCH IS THE MAN! Jesse's finally working for the right campaign.

Be seeing you.

Did Ron Paul ever figure out Jesse?

That is what I would like to know?

Listen

I've been bashing Benton for about a year now and I understand his betrayal better than most, but this is Ron Paul's son in law we're talking about here.

Even if Benton is a corrupt snake in the grass that doesn't mean that Dr. Paul wants to destroy his family.

Dr. Paul is a wonderful man and I cringe at the thought of being in his position...

personally, I sorta took Dr. Paul's addendum to Benton's C4L

resignation letter as his version of a 'kind FU,' to BeneDICKt Benton.

Dr. Paul's a class act. he's just not the type to dish dirt. he's a gentleman whose manners were forged during the Great Depression.

I can't fault him for his own personal failure to fire him early on.

He literally took all the sh*t for all of us, and for the republic.

To me, the fact that Dr. Paul AND Carol left Tampa a day before Rand was to speak at the RNC tells me everything I need to know.

Of course, while we can never be 100% be certain, unless Dr. Paul himself discloses it, but chances are the rumors that Dr. Paul was notified by Rand of his decision to endorse Mutt WRONGney just 30min before getting on Sean Insanity show, is more than likely true.

What would be his choice? Rand already decided. He screwed his own father. But, would Dr. Paul, is he the type to 'get back' at Rand, publicly, when he were set to retire, and the GOP already stole his candidacy?

Dr. Ronald Ernest Paul is noble man, to a fault.

He awakened MILLIONS. It's always been up to us, but now, it really is time to run with the torch.

We've always been 'his' legacy. As long as we choose to live free, be free, everyday, the message he's championed for so long, will never die.

Besides, it just so happens that if anyone wants to be a true individual sovereign, one automatically will be practicing what he's been preaching and walking the talk for over 40yrs.

now, how about that.o)

Predictions in due Time...

"Let it not be said that no one cared, that no one objected once it's realized that our liberties and wealth are in jeopardy." - Dr. Ronald Ernest Paul

Like I said below, I don't

Like I said below, I don't think you can equate what Jesse did with Rand's endorsement. Sure you can say that Rand bailed on us to play politics and remain in favor with the GOP (I like Rand, he's the best Senator this country has), however, Jesse's alleged corruption brought us down this road in the first place.

Well, well, well. Now I know why all the disdain for Benton.

And here I found myself defending him from time to time.

It's almost as if the campaign never had any intention of winning.

Maybe they just wanted to be a part of the national dialogue.

I'm just not going to vote for any republicans (or democrats of course.)

I will only support 3rd parties anymore.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

PLEASE...

I'M BEGGING!!!!!!
GET OUT OF THE GOP!!!!!!!
THEY ARE A CANCER!!!!!
The drama, cheating and betrayal of the 2012 Ron Paul campaign WILL HAPPEN OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER!!!!!!!

WE MUST COMPLETELY REJECT THE GOP and embrace the Constitution Party and Libertarian Party. NOW!!!! NOT TOMORROW! NOT LATER TODAY!!!! NOW!!!!!!! RIGHT NOW!!!!!

Brother Winston Smith

The r3VOLution is NOT republiCAN.

"clear the air" is right

A gentleman. Thank you, Tom Woods for risking the chance of personal bad blood in favor of letting the truth be known, and clearing some of the last people of their illusions, so we can really start moving forward and avoid the mistakes of the past. Now if only Ron Paul had a little more Vito Corleone in him, and recognized a "Carlo", when he saw one:

TOM HAGEN: Now your new son-in-law; give him something important?

VITO CORLEONE: Never. Give him a living, but never discuss the Family business with him. What else?

Ron Paul

Really needs to ask for his money back from Jesse Benton.

This is why you should never hire family to work for you. You can't fire them no matter how much they mess-up.

Conscience does not exist if not exercised

"No matter how cynical you get, it's impossible to keep up!
---Lily Tomlin

Except

When you are Dr. Paul, it's hard to trust anyone. I mean, he has been the only voice of reason in the Congress for so many years!

"Truth is Treason in an Empire that lies" - Ron Paul

Educate the masses, and win in the end.

He could have trusted Tom Woods.

Why did Ron allow such an important advocate to be sidelined?

wow.

I would take Tom Woods word over Jesse any day of the week. Tom is the most eloquent and fun speaker in Our movement. He is very animated. Tom can make the most mundane and boring subject fun to listen to.

'Peace is a powerful message.' Ron Paul

New Hampshire

Does anyone still have the video of Benton coming out of Newt's campaign HQ in New Hampshire?

Thanks for posting

Snake

does it surprise you that campaigns talk to eachother?

.

In person?

AKA in secret?

At a campaign event of all places?

Yes... a little surprised honestly

NOTE TO SELF:

I am never writing a blog post that repeats "AND STILL I SAID NOTHING."

I was thinking same. Why and how to say anything.

When I ran a computer shop the first rule was, never run down the competition. For a very practical reason. Don't make the customer feel stupid for having chosen poorly in the past.

Woody did warn Buzz that Sid was danger. But this is not a Toy Story.

Free includes debt-free!

For those of us

that have been saying Benton was our worst enemy in the Liberty movement for a good year or so. Let us all shake our heads in shame at the folks on this website that attacked us for saying so. Then, let us extend a hand and ask them to listen to our points of view with more conviction of what is evident rather than resting on thinly veiled hopes. Actions speak louder than words and Bentonitis has been a howler for a LONG time.

AMEN!

As an organizer for P.A.U.L Festival, and knowing a lot of this all along, it was hard to get attacked constantly for criticizing Benton.

I forgive everyone :)

I'm sorry he F'd you over

It's a shame. I have to say, I could see this coming for so long that I only donated by way of buying a couple silver tokens this time around. C4L seemed too compromised from the get go, so my daughter got private school this year instead getting Jesse his Volvo half paid for.
