I trusted Dr. Paul's decision on this.

I assumed anyone he had as a campaign official would be an honorable person and who was I to question it.

But now it's clear that the campaign never had any real intention of winning the presidency.

First of all, the campaign was scared to death over Romney's threat to expose the newsletters and make Dr. Paul look like a full-fledged racist. While we know this isn't true, with Romney's money and combined with the idiocy of the American electorate he would have succeeded.

Secondly, we know most likely that if Dr. Paul had been elected, they would have killed him first chance possible.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

I'm fairly new here 8-9 months but it seems to me, that in

that time we won 13 states (6 certified) in the primary/caucus season and made it the GOP convention with more than enough states to secure a nomination BUT we were robbed by 1/2 of the largest terrorist organization on the planet.

So why all this anger and bitterness towards one of the key people who helped get us this far? I'm more upset at the Gary Johnson people who started spreading lies and deceit 9 months ago in an effort to steal supporters and resources.

That said, unless Ron Paul gets back in the running I will most likely vote for GJ since write-in votes don't count here in Florida.

Benton's "help" we could have done without.

He undermine the campaign. He did not support our state delegates. He was totally silent for over two months while state conventions were going and when our delegates could have used the support. That's not help. His "help" indeed got us where we are at today; Romney not Ron Paul is the republican nominee.

Good point

.

At this point, ANY more posts, using ANY angle to put BENTON

in the post title is suspect.

We have known for a long time and aired thoroughly our displeasure w/ Benton.

People dancing on this further are dancing on the movement. Give it a rest. Put it to bed. It is done. Dwelling on it serves no good. Dwelling on it only serves BAD.

What are YOUR priorities?

"You are a den of vipers and thieves."

I mean to rout you out!

-Just because you are among us, does not make you with us

-The door is wide open, anything can slither in

Right - time to flush this turd.

Enough of staring into the bowl... push the lever, watch it swirl... good bye.

The stench will clear soon, and we can all move on.

Maybe I am missing something

But, Dr. Paul's official campaign is over, right? He is not running for Congress again, right.

Although there are some folks that argue it should have been this way or that throughout the campaign I think it was pretty solid overall. We really had a mountain to climb.

I would state that it was pretty solid and somewhat successful (arguably).

Now, that being said, if your job has ended and others in the industry you work in were thoroughly impressed and offer you a job that pays pretty darn well, what do you do? Well we see what Jesse did. Who's to say he doesn't encourage Mcconnel and others to work towards more liberty minded things and approaches.

no fiat currency isn't everything but it's a job and it's not too far off the mark of what he does. I would have to assume that he is more aligned with Dr. Paul than not on values and beliefs, plus take into account he is family so I am sure they discussed this carefully...and if not there may be a single paul grand-daughter soon.

what's done is done, I don't hold any ill will as I think he tried his best. We all make mistakes I think on the whole he did a decent job. Now the campaign is over and he has another opportunity at a "rival" company/competitor. If he jumped ship 3 months ago then that would be another story. Or if he had been successful in the nomination process before the RNC upended the rules people would be cheering how he at least got the doc a shot to speak. Who effed us over Boehner and co. otherwise Jesse would have orchestrated a nomination and potential floor speech.

what's the old saying, you can please some of the people some of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time. that's my $0.02

I agree with Alex Jones...

I am not a fan now of Mr. Benton, (I am using the word Mr. Loosely,) now nor will I support Rand Paul in the Future. It is my belief we have all been punked by Jesse. I sent money that I did not have to Ron Paul and yes I would do it again. The message was so much more important than the man but what Benton has done was sealed his fate with the Liberty Movement.

What Dr. Paul has done for the movement is unmeasurable. I am so grateful for all the hard work he has put in to waking up the dumb down public. We must now search for the leader in each of us and do the right thing and run for office. We now have been handed the baton. It is now up to each and every one of us to see to it that we get more involved into the running of our own Country. Wake up your friends and neighbors. It is not time to look back but to look forward and realize there are many more of us liberty minded people out here because Ron Paul woke us up.

Does that mean we should overlook Benton? Nope, we avoid this traitor like the plague. We treat him like he is MRSA. We go forward leaving him behind like the Judas that he is.

I hate everything about this thread

If there is one thing I hate more than a traitor it is a mob, especially a mob led being instigated by a drama queen who has been incessantly spamming the DailyPaul for months with divisive drama and self-promotion and who has multiple simultaneous threads "celebrating" the Benton hate.

I invested heavily in the RP campaign both mentally and financially (relative to my resources) and I am upset and conflicted, but this circlejerk is accomplishing nothing. This thread and the childlike mentality dominating this discussion should be shunned.

It called venting, which can be very therapeutic.

This job disclosure has been in the making for a long time, and so has this vitriolic word lashing.

Mark I love you

Seriously, you are one of the reasons why I still come to the DP.

Now, YAL are traitors!!! I love YAL. I support all that YAL does. I am a traitor because I was YAL. Also, my friend who is the VP of Metro-East Libertarians is now a 'Republican' because he was president of YAL.

UGH.

And! I am getting down voted as we speak talking about the sacrifices for my activism. This is totally shameful.

May the LORD bless you and keep you

While I often disagree with you on some issues, I think you are right on the money with this post.

How many Benton hate threads do we need?

Let's learn from our experience and move on folks.

Resist the temptation to feed the trolls.

Ask me 20 years from now, IanC!

It's really impossible to see what's in the depth of people's hearts and to predict which act brings about great fruition in several years or decades later.

The consistent predictability of Dr. Ron Paul was & is an exception: we remaining mortals will do best to just try to keep our own boats on course, while being forgiving, kind & generous to other liberty boats, precariously tossing about at times, but heading towards the same general destination. . .

I can't really pass judgement

I can't really pass judgement maybe unless there's a divorce. None of us knows what is going on behind the scenes in the Paul family or what they know. For example, when Bill Hicks said they probably take every (possible) president behind closed doors and show them a never before seen video of Kennedy getting assassinated. Or what really happened during Ron Paul's breakfast meeting with Bernanke. The more you think you know, the more you don't. Lesson? Please reconsider pinning your hopes and dreams on other people. Get out there and spread the message of liberty yourself.

Never Understood

Never understood why Paul used such an amateur for his campaign manager. Heck, Tom Woods would've been much better.

Not a fan

I'm no FAN of Jesse Benton, but I think I can be FAIR. I think it's FAIR to say that he did this merely for a paycheck and for his ongoing paychecks in the future.

What's interesting is that

What's interesting is that all the trashing of Benton mentions nothing about Ron Paul. He hired him, so why not trash him too? I don't understand the logic if Benton is such a traitor why would Paul keep him around as a campaign manager?

Is the new hiring of Benton just a reflection of his ability to get grassroots (or at least perceived that way) support?

Rand won. Ron Paul got a ton of support. Mitch sees that as a good thing, because he wants to win. Maybe that is all there is to it.

If Benton ran the campaign into the ground, why didn't Paul say something?

If you disagree with me on anything you are not a real libertarian...

You didn't answer my

You didn't answer my question. Nor did any of the other cowards who voted me down..

To answer your question...

Who knows? Maybe he's good at delivering babies and sticking to his principles, but he sucks at firing people.

What question was that?

What question was that? "coward" what a joke

Did you bother to read the

Did you bother to read the questions? I listed 4 of them.

Read carefully. And the coward was referring to people that vote it down without answering the questions, because maybe they can't. Meaning people that lash out but when called out they run away...

If you disagree with me on anything you are not a real libertarian...

Ron Paul is at fault, and Im

Ron Paul is at fault, and Im severely disappointed with him and the way the campaign was made from us back in 2008 and to end as weak as he did. He made us look like fools and never kept us in the loop we were the LAST to know the "strategy" and battle plan.

Then getting emails looking for money from C4L, when said he was done was the last straw.

Im proud he showed me the path to Austrian economics and the mises crew, but Im done following him, I have seen every speech he has done.

Benton is a snake who married in to the Paul family and Ron will look out for family than any of us, human nature.

Paul I think never wanted to win he just wanted to use the campaign to inform the masses but used US as the means, Im no slave keep me in the loop especially when money is involved.

Trust

I feel Ron Paul put his trust in his son in law. He went and did everything Benton said needed to be done and believed in him and still does. I don't feel Dr. Paul stood outside the glasshouse he was in to see how the campaign was shaping up. Never spoke an ill word of what went on to the delegates. A true politician.
So you never answered the real question do you still support Benton?

It's time! Rand Paul 2016!

"Truth, Justice, and the American Way!"

What do you mean? Benton is a

What do you mean? Benton is a corrupt snake who married into the Paul family scamming the grass roots for funds and then turning his back to us and plunged the campaign to the ground, and ultimately all blame is on Ron Paul, he puts trust in the wrong people, maybe he is naive or just not genuine, im proud he showed me Austrian Economics and the MIses crew in 2008,but Im done following him.

"First, Ron hired Jesse. Is Ron just an old fool for that?"..

no, not a fool...but he also let others write and run his newsletters. We all know what happened there.

Dr. Paul has placed his trust in the wrong place.

“Let it not be said that no one cared, that no one objected once it’s realized that our liberties and wealth are in jeopardy.”
― Ron Paul

It's all a secret plan

He will join campaign to help reelect Mcconell and at the last minute will rip the mask off Mitches head and it will be Thomas Jefferson himself......Jesse is a genius

Lol!

I dont recall there ever

I dont recall there ever being any Benton supporters. Only those who wanted to complain about him and those who said it's not up to us. I was both at times and both were right.
