Fred Thompson only Raised $7M can we beat that?

According to CNN Thompson is expected to announce $7M raised.

I thought the guy was delaying his entry into the race so he wouldn't have to claim the millions he was raising. It'll be hard for him to be considered "top teir" if Rudy & Romney both have 3 times as much cash as he does.

But more importantly, that puts yet another "top tier" candidate in the same ball park as Ron Paul in cash on hand.

"This quarter, we can really shock them ".

Ron Paul said "This quarter, we can really shock them ". Shock them with 4 or 5 M ? Hmmmm, I don't think so. I think he got something between 7 and 11 M.

We already did

Considering Paul had $2M last quarter (assuming he has 3, and used one)

And how many fundraising events he's been in, let's add this up.

Meetup.com competition, at least $400K
Fundraising events , at least 10, each $100K
Online donations this week alone $1 million.
This easily adds up to $2.5 million
So assuming Paul saved $2M from last quarter, he's got $4.5M conservatively EVEN IF nobody donated online in the days in between (impossible).

I personally guestimate we exceed $10M this quarter, definitely ahead of Thompson (and many others).

From what I have heard

350k from LA, SF, SLC, Seattle visits.

over 100k from B-day bash in Texas

over 30k Ft. Lauderdale.

Meetups competition estimate 500k

Online 1,025,000k and counting

Fill the quill competition 3,000 donations estimated $50 per = $150k

Ron Paul B-day donations ?

Chicago rally ?

Michigan event?

MA dinner?

standard online donations $1,000,000

checks and other donations given or sent in?

I estimate he has raised 4-5 million. I guess estimate he spent 750k (more traveling, bigger office, a few radio spots, more personnel).

If he carried over 2.4 million then he probably is in the 5-7 million range.

That is my guess. Hopefully he finishes strong with another $250k.

300K Event?

Didn't the campaign report a 300K fund raising event? I don't remember, but I thought it was during his swing through San Francisco, Seattle, etc.

350K Western Events!

I researched it, and the campaign stated that they had raised 350K in four cities over five days. See this link:

http://ronpaul2008.typepad.com/ron_paul_2008/2007/09/index.html

yes, possibly, i can't

yes, possibly, i can't remember, but stay conservative!!

Fundraising

Although we are all very excited for Ron Paul’s fundraising this quarter; which we should be, lets not blow it out of proportion. Me thinks a 10 million estimate is a little high; i think a conservative figure although high would be 4-5 million, which is still amazing. The important thing is to never let the fundraising stagnate. We should also be skeptical about these Fred Thompson results being leaked out early; there might be a reason big media is doing this, to hype up his donations if they are a lot higher than they initially reported. Lets keep our collective cool and make this thing happen.

Paul will easily raise more money then Thompson

If Thompson's only got $7 Million raised.

Consider helping out the Students 4 Ron Paul Group too. It'll go towards the overall total, and be another figure to prove he met that goal too.

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2229718737

If you've already donated to the $1M Campaign. Consider helping out the Students for Ron Paul Campaign. About $25,000 to go.

I don't want to rain on the

I don't want to rain on the parade, but you guys are assuming a level playing field where none exists. What's one of the main reasons people are turning to Ron Paul? Because the mainstream politicians lie, cheat and steal every chance they get. So why would they act any differently when it comes to campaign finance? Obviously they wouldn't.

I refer you back to a post I made in August where I checked the donations website and found that over and over again, every member of a given family was mysteriously donating to not one but many Presidential campaigns... http://dailypaul.com/node/1257
Needless to say, they funded everybody but Ron Paul.

What I'm saying is that the other guys are gaming the system, just like they always do, so matching their funding is tough when we have the only candidate that plays by the rules.

Why rich people donate

It is not uncommon for very rich people to max out the legal contribution to every "mainstream" candidate. This may be unethical, but it is legal. The reason is they know that politicians are whores, and they just want to make sure that whichever one wins has been properly purchased. This is important when government contracts and other favors from government are sought. It can even save a rich man from a prison sentence, as when Bill Clinton pardoned Marc Rich after his wife contributed boatloads of money to the Democratic party. Keep this in mind when the MSM informs you that this or that "first tier" candidate now has a war chest of $30 or $50 million. That tells you how many rich people that politician has IOUs to.

Ron Paul can not be bought, so rich people trying to purchase favors aren't going to bother with him.

I wish I could. I tapped out

I wish I could. I'm tapped out now.

"The politicians don't just want your money. They want your soul. They want you to be worn down by taxes until you are dependent and helpless. When you subsidize poverty and failure, you get more of both." James Dale Davidson

What the "duck"?

If you click on the hyperlinked "Ron Paul" at the end of the story, you are directed to Bill Richardson's bio...All of the other hyperlinks connect you to the desired candidate.
I truly hate that I keep finding a "conspiracy" behind every corner, but if it walks like duck and quacks like a duck...well, what the "duck" am I suppose to think?

Ron Could Beat Him

Now, if we consider that Ron's best fundraising day was ~$100,000, that means that the most Ron could have raised in the second quarter (assuming that the campaign raises $1,000,000 in this fundraiser) is about $10-11 million. I think we can beat him.

CNN Expectations..

CNN also said they expect Ron Paul to bring in LESS money than he did in the 2nd Quarter. I really, really hope they are completely wrong.

Expect lower numbers for Sen. Sam Brownback of Kansas, Rep. Duncan Hunter of California, Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, Sen. Tom Tancredo of Colorado and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Note that Ron Paul was the

Note that Ron Paul was the only one raised MORE in Q2 than in Q1. And about half of the 2,4 millions Paul raised in Q2 is being raised online now just this last week of Q3! I think it's safe to say that the rate of donations has not decreased.

If I've found the right numbers, this is how the top four compare (in millions):

RAISED Q1 Q2 change change
Giuliani 18,0 17,6 -0,4 -2%
Romney 21,1 14,3*) -6,8 -32%
McCain 14,8 11,6 -3,2 -22%
Paul 0,6 2,4 +1,8 +300%

SPENT Q1 Q2 change change
Giuliani 6,1 11,2 +5,1 +84%
Romney 10,3 20,7 +10,4 +101%
McCain 9,6 13,1 +3,5 +36%
Paul 0,1 0,5 +0,4 +400%

ON HAND Q1 Q2 change change
Giuliani 11,9 18,3 +6,4 +54%
Romney 11,9 5,6*) -6,3 -53%
McCain 5,2 3,2 -2,0 -38%
Paul 0,5 2,4 +1,9 +380%

*) Not including the 6 million which Romney has borrowed from himself.

It all sounds like wasteful spending to me...

...and a good indicator of what they would be like in office!

'08 race a boon for consultants

"If a guy can't run his own campaign, how the hell is he going to run the state or the country?" Napolitan said.

"The Price Of Freedom Is Eternal Vigilance."
Thomas Jefferson

Yes!

You got it Cynthia! The way they run their campaigns is indicative of how they would govern.

Guiliani = bureaucracy
Clinton = overspending/waste
McCain = doesn't know where the money went (because I never see any workers)

Ron Paul = thrify and wise

Does Anyone Know Why?

Does anyone know why Ron Paul does not spend his own money on this campaign, like Romney has been? I heard him begin to explain this one time, but the interviewer cut him off and asked a different question.

Ron Paul also doesn't take

Ron Paul also doesn't take as much as he can from his primary employer of the last few decades. He returns what is unused to the treasury.

Why?

Because Romney has $250 million personal asset.

And wants to waste it using with a non worthy candidate, himself!

Compete with Obama?

It will be nice if we can have close to the $7 million mark to compete with Thompson. I'd also like to see each Ron Paul supporter to kick in during these final hours to also attempt to compete with Obama's estimated 75,000 new contributors.

Each supporter needs to make sure they get as many people to contribute as possible. Anyone who has a card with a name who has not yet contributed needs to donate. Wife/husband, girl/boyfriend, roomate, parent, friend. You can also use prepaid credit cards or gift 'debit' cards to make a contribution in the name of a lazy friend.

Even if the contribution is only $1.00 that is perfectly ok. At this point we need not only the money but we all so need the documented supporters as well.

Be sure to donate on as many uniquely named cards as possible!!

Ron Paul 2008!

Ron Paul 2008!

Documented supporters

Let's remember that one of the main reasons we love Ron is that he is honest and straight-forward. If he / we can't get 750k more real supporters... the chips must fall as they may...

Fred will be 2nd tier

I am thinking (OK, also hoping, but I have lots of anecdotal that makes it more than merely wishful thinking) ...that when the 3rd Qtr numbers are announced, Fred Thompson will NOT be in the same tier as Ron.

If Freddy has only managed to raise 7M, methinks Ron will not only have more cash on hand, but will have raised MORE than the dead-tree-and-airwave media's favorite boy Freddy.

It will be interesting to see how the MSM manage to downplay Ron's Funding (they will be turned into absolute contortionists but they will manage somehow -- but others will take notice).

Of course that won't stop them from comparing Fred's 3rd Qtr funding to say... everyone else's 1st or 2nd Qtr, and still ranking him as first tier on that basis.

But money will talk... and the BS won't walk. RP will be able to bury them in advertising simply because they won't be as wasteful with consultants, etc... AND the RP campaign still has all of us... no other campaign has 1/10 the grassroots supporters.

We're prepping for a BIG influx of local requests for yard signs, literature, DVD's, Bumper Stickers, etc., and suggesting our neighbor MeetUp groups do the same... our new motto is Be Prepared!

Can't wait for the next two weeks to play out!

Here's the thing...

RP doesn't exactly have 'swaying' or 'exciting' ads.

They don't really describe him or the campaign, or the people behind it.
I mean, did you see the Iowa spots on youtube? He sounded like another dull candidate with nothing real to offer. I really hope he can figure something out there...

About Romney

If he does not win New Hampshire then he will be in some trouble. This below does not include the money he spent in Iowa or recent radio ads. After subtracting his debt he carried about 3.2 million positive dollars. Of course he is wealthy and can lend him self quite a bit.
