GOP elector won't vote for Romney and resigns

AMES, Iowa — A Republican appointed to the Electoral College, Melinda Wadsley was expected to cast her vote for Mitt Romney if he won the state of Iowa in the presidential election.

Wadsley decided Thursday she couldn't in good conscience vote for Romney — she had backed Ron Paul during the GOP primary — and resigned to allow the Iowa GOP to choose someone else for that duty.

"I have always been a straight-ticket Republican, and for the first time in my life I am an undecided voter, therefore, I need to resign my position as a Republican presidential elector," Wadsley said in an email exchange with The Associated Press...

Where I come from

that's called a quitter. Pathetic.

OH MY G_D

Think of the media opp had she not quit: "ELECTOR REFUSES TO CAST VOTE."

This quitting thing among liberty lovers is exceedingly disturbing.

MAKE AN ISSUE OUT OF IT. GET MEDIA. MAKE A CIRCUS. GET ON RADIO SHOWS. WHATEVER.

But for G*d's sake DONT QUIT!

I'm sorry. But she's just stupid. And yes, I'm being quite purposefully judgemental. Although, it's objectively true.

The GOP

probably would've found a way to disqualify her or they would've cast her vote for Romney anyway. Look at how they treated the delegates. I'm guessing they'll go after the electors next. I don't believe she should've quit though. She should've tried to see it through to the end.

THEN LET THEM

Make them work for it. DONT QUIT.

NEVER QUIT.

I understand your sentiment

I understand your sentiment about not quitting. But you don't know Melinda and you don't know all the circumstances. Judging her and calling her stupid is out of line.

And she IS getting a lot of media attention for this.
