Ron Paul Stands up for Free Speech in 410 to 3 Vote as Cowardly House Passes Stolen Valor Act
Submitted by DJP333 on Fri, 09/14/2012 - 16:49Ron Paul will no doubt receive criticism for his vote Thursday against the Stolen Valor Act, which makes it a federal crime to lie about having served in the U.S. military in order to "obtain something of value."

Just about the only ones of the 410...
Who really support the troops! and the troops support.
I disagree.
It's criminal to impersonate someone/something for gain. This just codifies where the military is concerned.
Fraud is already illegal.
Fraud is already illegal.
This is different though.
This isn't like impersonating another person. From the way the article on PolicyMic was written, it sounds like a person could be charged with a federal crime if he went into a local restaurant that gave discounts to veterans and the restaurant took the word of a liar for it. When it comes to veterans' benefits and federal insurance, the federal government should be competent enough to know who's a veteran and who's not without having to come up with something this broad.
Good job to Justin Amash...
...for voting with the Dr! I hope he keeps it up in January when he's going to have to have to be the only "no" vote all by himself!

Pandering fools
this is what they waste their time on? Who keeps electing these 410?
I get things in mail and
I get things in mail and e-mail all the time from organizations that think I was in the military, and they send me offers/coupons/deals/etc. that would help me save money on a lot of things. But I've NEVER taken advantage of it.
I think I was put on these mailing lists due to my brief time in the college ROTC program.
Only the acceptance of the truth can defeat systemic evil.

This is a typical example of
government encroachment. There are already laws on the books that deal with everything imaginable under the sun...and if there isn't one regarding this situation....then, when the corporation or employer finds out, he or she is canned, end of story!
