$16 Trillion

It's 16 trillion, not 17. Maybe not too big a deal, but please no misinformation. We can win with the facts.

Give it another hour

It will be 17. lol

Ok...too lazy to look it up

Ok...too lazy to look it up but I remember seeing it pretty close to 17. I think he rounded up.

in the post collapse new republic...

not everyone should be allowed to vote.

having a minimum IQ and basic understanding of civics and economics should be required to have a voters license.

LOL...

...a real history lesson and a liberty test! jk

No, terrible idea...

for this to happen there would have to be a committee who decides what a "basic understanding of civics and economics" means. They would also decide how to determine IQ, not to mention IQ is by no means the only way to measure intellect. Creating more laws will not help in bringing about smaller government.

"I observed...that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer.” B. Franklin

i think it's a terrible idea

to allow people to vote when they have no idea what they are even voting for...i mean, just look around now...listen to that woman in the video, and she is one of tens of millions. How much time and resources are required to unravel all that nonsense in her head? and multiply that by millions.

with so many checks and balances built into the system, why can't we add this?

We should change direct

We should change direct election of congress and president to representative election. That was the way it was before the progressive era and what is stated in the Constitution.

How true you are!!

That IS how it should be done!!

Most important points about IRAN

My dear brothers and sisters,

Please remember the following points when the clueless ask about Iran

1. Iran was never a first aggressor in any war
2. Even in Iran-Iraq war, it was Iraq that initiated the war
3. In almost every country around Iran, there are American bases. How do you think Iran should feel surrounded by American bases ?
4. America has already shown to Iran that we will topple their government if that's what America feels like. In 1950s, America toppled their democratically elected government. Given this DEMONSTRATED HISTORY how do you think Iran should feel like. HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF SOME FOREIGN COUNTRY TOPPLED OUR DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED GOVERNMENT ?

I like how he gave reasons

I like how he gave reasons for his beliefs while she just spouted "ROMNEY GOOD OBAMA BAD" with no real reasoning.

Some people just can't...

get out of this phoney left/right BS. *sigh*

lol

She was so lost. "stand with the banks? Huh?" what's a bank? lol sorry, added that last part. It's like he was talking to a brick wall. Him: "Romney and Obama are the same, both support NDAA, both funded by banks, both for sending tax money to the banks and both for the patriot act." Her: "Obama sucks, I'm voting for Romney". She was like Charlie brown, all she heard was "wah waaah, waaah waaah wah, waaah wah wah."

These people make me want to

These people make me want to scream. They don't care about Romney's record. They just care about Obama. Nevermind that they are voting for 8 more years of Obama's policies.

The only way I win with these people is going the money route

I tell them exactly how 97% of our money is robbed from us via taxes (they agree), regulation expenses (agree), inflation (half heartedly agree), and then wage deflation via placing the corporations above the people legally and socially (they need convincing). Then I ask them how their lives would be different if their take-home pay was 5 times what it is now and if prices were actually lower. They usually argue that that's not possible so I show them how many "fluff" wastes are in every industry and how those came from unfair competition where the little guys can't compete due to regulations.

Then I explain that those regulations come from 'just a few congressmen selling a vote or two' but that they're always the key votes in a 49/49 split vote and that this is how the individual representative can 'save face'. Then I ask why those companies need to manipulate the regs (that's obvious to them). Then I explain how the worker power would be the ultimate force to stand against corporate greed if wages were higher and employment was a worker's market.

Then I explain how the entire welfare (and related issues) would be non-existent with a more equal income distribution. Then I ask them which world they would like to live in and when they say it's not possible, I show them a local example of a small business prospering due to not going public or owing greedy investors. When they say they would like the more equal society, I show exactly how all the non-RP / non-GJ candidates are excalating it the bad way and how easy we can take control back.

Any lingering arguments they make are then EASILY turned back to the money/corruption issue. I especially enjoy showing how all the middle east conflicts of recent decades are all tied to bank / dollar / oil / petro-dollar / sovereignty issues. That always gets a big 'wow' from them and a few 'ah ha's' to follow.

To date, and if given at least 10 minutes, I've yet to lose a one-on-one persuasion with this technique.

Maybe I'm just being hopeful

Maybe I'm just being hopeful here but I think this may have actually hit home with the husband. I bet they had further discusssion about it at least.

Idea!

How about a t-shirt with, say, Thomas Jefferson on it that says "Miss Me Yet?"? I would rather see that than a portrait of Dubya (dis)gracing good quality cotton!

This is why our leaders need

This is why our leaders need to stop pandering and lowering the level of discussion with talking points. These people are representative. The schemers are the neoconservative leaders who love war and the American empire mislead the people. I also do not like the Romney endorsements for this reason. All those who endorsed him tongue and cheek but the people actually believe they endorse him and trust their representatives. This does a lot of damage that is not easily undone and is very confusing to the people trying to understand.

I would bet money that this

I would bet money that this woman listens to rush limbaugh every day. And that she believes every thing he says.

Stand with the banks..!

Awesome. I bet you it was that one single argument that those neo-con supporting conservatives will never forget. The husband or friend of the lady looked like he'd seen a ghost after hearing that argument. Maybe that was the cathartic moment that will put him on the path to waking up.

Concur.

Stand with the banks?

How dare he make me question my own beliefs...We have a huge battle to fight....This is how it happens...Take 20 minutes to talk to anyone that will listen and someone will hear us...Too bad it's not going to be these people...LOL
