Libya, Afghanistan and the Middle East - Why Obama and Romney are Both Wrong

Foreign policy is supposed to make us safer, not get Americans killed and bankrupt us. Yet, even as we mourn the loss of four Americans in Libya and watch the Middle East ignite with anti-American fervor, our leaders don't get it.

In one corner, we have the U.S. apologists warning that -- after the murders in Libya and the attack on our embassy in Cairo -- we must be careful not to say or do anything that might hurt someone's feelings. In the other corner, we have the chest-thumpers demanding that we find somebody to shoot -- and shoot them.

I have a better idea: Stop trying to manipulate and manage history on the other side of the globe and then being shocked when things don't turn out the way we wanted. As far as what we do right now in response to the tragic events of this week, it's actually pretty simple. Get our folks out of places they don't need to be -- and out of harm's way -- and cut off every dime of U.S. tax dollars we are sending to clearly ungrateful regimes.

I like Gary...but he's still

I like Gary...but he's still too naive on foreign policy.....no Afghanistan was never worth fighting....they straight up offered Geronimo if we could present evidence; we didn't, and just bombed them anyway. Gaddafi did more for his people in terms of quality of life than any of his neighbors and his country was beginning to prosper. We destroyed that.....Still have a lot of waking up to do Mr. Johnson.......that being said, I'd rather have him grow up a bit in office than elect or re-elect someone who does the wrong thing and likes doing it.

I want Pepe Escobar to educate Mr. Johnson a bit on our foreign policy, and I think he's a guy who is open enough to learn; then he'll be ready. Right now, he's just not Ron Paul

What is really troubling as well

is the coming clampdown on internet freedom.
This stupid video can't be the real reason the world is on fire.

LL, thanks for posting this article! At this point GJ is

the ONLY one among the candidates talking against rampant illegal wasteful wars of aggression.

I'm glad that he will be up there on the stage for debates and that his name will be on the ballots in most of the 50 states.

Thank you

GJ just got on the ballot in PA yesterday.
Still fight goes on in Oklahoma and Michigan.
GJ expects to win both.
On the ballot in all 50 states will be sweet.

Yes, this is what I have been

Yes, this is what I have been thinking too. Both Obama and Romney are mismanaging this crisis. One side thinks we can appease, the other thinks we can subjugate!

Thanks for a bump

Such a great eye-opening article from Gary Johnson.

Just watch Romney/Ryan trolls down-voting this and still insisting GJ is a neo-con.

:)
